DAY 1:
The mood amongst the citizens of Baldur’s Gate was upbeat after the slaying of the Dragon. Could things return to normalcy with that fortunate event? Many seemed to think so and a grand celebration was held in the city. A fine venue was chosen in none other than the grand Silvershield Estate.
Walking through the door of the mansion, one could see magnificent artwork hanging on the wall, some of which was nearly 100 years in age. In the vast corridors of the manor, great pillars of grey marble adorned the sides of the hall. The entrance hall contained a statue dedicated to the founder of Baldur’s Gate.
There was no shortage of Mead and everyone was welcome to join. For some an event such as this was a regular occurrence, some had never experienced anything and were overwhelmed by the occasion but their tongues were loosened by strong De’ Tranion’s Ale, a rare and expensive brand of drink but all on the house for today, and there were no shortage of those willing to take advantage of that fact.
“By Tyr, only good fortune may come to us now given our victory yesterday” one nobleman mused.
“Aye. It was certainly a change from the gloom that we have been subjected to lately” his friend replied.
A waitress approached the two men. “Another drink, M’lord?”
“Why that would be splendid! And one for my companion here as well, please”
Taking a sip, the guest suddenly spat out the Ale. “Ugh. This is not what I usually drink! What is the meaning of this!”
Upon closer examination, the liquid in the mug was rust in colour.
“Waitress, where did you get this Ale?”
The flustered server was apologetic. “I..I am sorry M’lord. There must be some mistake. I have poured the Ale straight from the main keg in the cellar. We just finished the other keg. It is none other than De’tranion’s Ale”
“No, this is not. I know exactly what De’tranion’s Ale looks and taste like. Take me to the cellar!”
Arriving at the cellar, the two men and the waitress were looking at the main ale keg. It was large enough to hold enough pints of entertain the entire Manor.
Upon opening the tap, all were horrified Nobleman opened the tap, crimson liquid gushed out of the tap.
“Blood. By Tyr, it is blood!”
The horrified waitress screamed.
The Nobleman took an axe and smashed the keg until it splintered into pieces, covering himself with the offending liquid.
A body lay on the floor. It was none other than thefranklin, a renowned citizen of Baldur’s Gate. His neck was slashed and wrists tied up. He looked to have been killed and immediately put into the keg.
“Lathander have mercy on us all”
“Where is the Lord of the Manor? He needs to be informed about this and no one has seen him today.” the Nobleman’s stunned companion asked.
The butler rushed into the cellar, greeted by the sight of bloodied ale and the frightened guests.
“Another one! What is going on here?”
“What did you just say?” The three looked at him in disbelief.
The Butler looked gravely sad. “We have just discovered the body of Drixx, the lord of the Manor in his room. He was decapitated.
He continued. “Silvershield Estate has been placed on lockdown. This horror will stop.”
There was a noticeable lack of conviction in his voice.
Drixx has been killed.
thefranklin has been killed.
