Re: The Exposure Tournament
Hey everyone. It's been a long time since I posted, but I have been living without consistent internet access for some time. I began playing this tournament several weeks ago, but haven't had any internet time to post updated until this point.
This will be kind of long, so I will post my stats and tourny information in a second post.
Introducing Destroyer Rufeo, level 48 Charge Paladin
I did not take many notes of specific game play, so I will breeze through that part and spend some time talking about my thoughts/decision making choices so far.
Act 1
Act 1 was a breeze. Being a charger, I simply placed a number of points into might and grabbed a chippy socketed two handed sword. I mostly used normal attack with a dose of level 1 zeal when necessary. I was able to get my merc killed off in the Mauseleum to an extra strong skeleton pack. I began to pump charge as soon as I was level 12, but only used it sparingly as I could only charge about 3 times before I ran out of mana (though, 1 charge was about all it took to kill something at this point). I found several sets/uniques in act 1, but easily the most significant was a pair of Gorefoot boots in the Catacombs. These boots gave me a source of mana leach, and with the charge damage I could put out I could leach back enough mana to charge most of the time. I gambled a magic maul with 5%ll at level 19, which made Andy a joke. I pumped some antidotes and just charged, ran back a bit, and charged again. She went down quickly, and dropped a rare ring with 4%ll.
Act 2
The only notes I have for act 2 are that I gambled a magic maul with 5% ml. Using this weapon, I could charge leachables indefinitely. I replaced a 10%mf ring with the 4%ll ring to keep some ll. I couldn't dispose of corpses against Radament (I accidently sold the cold damage charm I had saved for this specific purpose) so I just ran in big circles around his room as the skellies chased me and would charge Radament once every circle. I would use this drive by tactic several times in this act to take out revivers. I dropped to p5 for Duriel, and dispatched him after several town trips for potions.
Act 3
I had several NDE's in this act, all of them in the temples. If I make it to NM or Hell I will need to have a good plan in place for these places. There is little manuvering room, which is especially bad for a charger. I had to by a wand with charges of confuse to get through them. I got stair trapped by mana burn wailing beasts in one temple, and got lucky that I was able to run through them drinking pots into an empty side room. I tp'ed out and came back through the stairs and was able to get them one by one. Sarina nearly got me as well. I had to use every single potion that I brought with me. I got this
cool drop from a chest in the sewers. The ring was a 29%mf nagel. I decided that I could go without life leach, so I replaced my rare ring with it. The council was amazingly easy. I pulled them out one by one and just charge chained them across the map. I killed
Meph with %150MF. I upgraded my gloves, boots, and helmet through gambling in this act.
Act 4
I gambled 300k at the start of the act on great mauls, plated belts, and chain gloves. I was looking for a weapon upgrade, a belt with fire res, and clegaw's gloves (I really want a source of knockback for when I try to charge but am too close and use normal attack. It will push the enemy back enough to get a charge off.) I was able to upgrade to rare gloves with res and 20%Mf. I started the act at level 32 with 170mf. I had no problems, and just charged and ran away against
Diablo.
Act 5
I loved the open areas, and hated the tunnels. In open area my kill speed is really good but it slows down significantly in enclosed spaces. I upgraded to a great maul, and maxed charge in this act, so my damage was pretty good. I really started to notice the increased rune drops in this act. 2 sols, 2 amns, and 2 shaels dropped. No NDEs.
Baal kept making clones but charge retreat charge while drinking mana pots took him down quickly at p3.
I was worried about the cows, as they come in huge groups and are tightly packed to prevent charge chains. I didn't need to be as I could 1 or 2 hit kill them all. I just charged, ran back, and charged again. Cow King dropped junk.
The next post will have my char info and tourny score.
