The Exposure Tournament

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Act 1 hell finished, mostly on /p7, in the end /p5. It was quite alright except few hot whiles. With Bone Prison BlackDeath has nice crowd control, at least until he meets this kind of monster. Yes, ghosts turned out to be very tough enemy, especially if there is small fighting arena. In Tower he met one pack and champions, gladly it was posssible to divide them and kill separately. In Jails the situation was much worse, especially one place where BlackDeath met pack of conviction archers together with ghost pack and from behind there he saw ghosts-champions with blessed-aim aura beneath them. That was hot while and not much space around. I planned to park all ghosts around the entrance, return to WP and jump into tp behind corner, but in the end, with lot of dancing, BlackDeath managed the situation and killed them all, bastards :).

Another semi-hot situation occured in Pits 2, for any other character probably impossible (or at least I wouldn't know how to managed 2 archers packs, cursed and with might aura, and iirc skeleton pack or champions and dosen of fallens right near entrance and all that alone without shield). With bone necro it looked like this, so fine.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

sequana, are you using a staff? why? wouldn't a necrohead + wand be a lot better for you? and safer!

I am sure he would have use that, if the tournament rules had allowed it.

Btw, that 'wall-to-wall-bones' screenie from the Pit is just awesome!

Re: The Exposure Tournament

/bonk

I'm being stupid. I guess that must be a unique staff, or a rare with awesome mods. When levling sorc I usually end up using a wand so I guess I should shut up.

And yes the wall to wall wall is great. I should probably get myself some marrowwalks for the tight places like temples in act3.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Thalestris had a mind blowing theft on Saturday. She decided to do the Halls of the Dead, even though she already has the cube, and while down there, she obtained a single Amn rune worthy of stashing, for all that work (and it was work, with rooms full of unravelers and sarcophagi making each room take upwards of 30 minutes). Well during the course of the gaming session, somehow the ATMA stash got corrupted and she lost all of her stashed gear - chipped gems, charms, jewels, all runes (2 Hel, 3 Sol, 2 Amn, 2 Shael, and all others below), those sweet circlets, a nice Ferocious + Amp rare bow, Sanders boots, everything. All that she had left was what she was wearing plus a couple things in her stash, including a MF amulet, a Malice sword and some MF gloves.

I think it was because I tried to make an Edge bow to make for cheaper gambling, but when I socketed the bow it didn't make the RW (I must have not reinstalled RWM when I upgraded to 1.13?). But when I tried to move the bow to the ATMA stash it showed up as Edge. Anyway, the stash died and she has started her stash over. So, A2NM and no S/U yet except for the Nagelring and upgraded Doomslinger which still works just fine. Over the course of the gaming from then to the Claw Viper temple, she did find a Dol, Hel, Sol and Amn, so she does have some crafting recipe stuff again.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

I'm finally done with the first act! Lucille managed to get lvl 20 and some new experiences. This is the first time I have cleared full zones. I didn't do them all in one go though.

Jail had some amusing happenings.

On the way to Andariel Lucille met a few packs that almost got her. A few champion rat men that tried to surround her, running through doors and around to make a surprise attack. She also met way too many dark ones. Right off the screen to the left here is a boss shaman that she didn't know of before she started chasing the normal ones.

One has to be prepared when facing someone as bileful as Andariel. Gheed is your friend then. Trying to get death's hand, Lucille ended up getting death's hand v2.0

Andariel wasn't easy, but there weren't any really dangerous moments either. With 84 poisonres after drinking potion and with a few medium and normal healing potions it was a walk in the park. Probably the 1-2firedmg charm Lucille has did the difference. At least the 81% mf did! Andariel dropped this. And after identify.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Yeah for Furious... He cleared all the annoying undead junk for now. Never thought Far Oasis and Maggot Lair would be a welcoming sight. If he can manage to clear the Arcane Sanctuary, Furious will be easy going untill big D. Which I'll be dropping to players 3. Done dying to that hacker of Demon(statistically more tougher than nm for some odd reason).

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Congratulations to all for the impressive progress!

Although I haven't posted any updates in a while, I have made considerable progress. However, my tournament character will be put on indefinite pause while I prepare for the PvP tournament in late January (and I think the MFO is coming in early January), so it will be a while before I get around to this again. Best of luck to all!

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Just thought I'd mention that I'm making some progress. Elsa, the fire trapper that utilized blade fury, conquered Baal and has progressed onto Nightmare. Nothing really to note. I'll add more in my next update about finds, equipment and progress. Still playing exclusively on players 8.

However I will mention two finds (well one was shopped):

- Amber Greaves of Fortune (+36% Lightning Resist, +17% MF)
- Bonesnap Maul (+227% ED, non-ethereal)

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Alright, I've had a change of heart. May I introduce:

Vanessa, level 6 Barbarian who thinks he's an Amazon, Cold Plains, 10 points

Yep, a Bowbarian. Frankly, I don't like my chances. But we'll see what transpires. :)

It´s not that odd. I can think of several reasons:

* Factoring in the amount of life/resists one typically has at the different times, Normal D does comparatively more damage than NM D.

* If you are a melee character, it´s possible to get so close to NM D that his Lightning Inferno won´t hit you. In Normal, this isn´t possible.

* In late Nightmare, your main skills are typically very strong. When you face him in Normal (at level 35 at most) you still have a fledgling character, at least if your main skills are from the level 24-30 tiers.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Thalestris got some redemption from the Diablo powers that be for losing her entire stash the other day: this. It fell nearly right from the beginning of the session and in the crazy looped section of the arcane sanctuary. In fact, it is a great roll too.

It ended up coming in handy against the dozens of lightning towers she faced in the flat wing of the AS. Yikes that was brutal and took over a half an hour.

My Venomgrip is gone so I have no CB any more and no way of producing any since I have no rubies. Hopefully I can find enough by the end of the act to make some blood gloves before facing Duriel.

In the meantime, Strafe is a wonderful skill when this type of scenario happens. They all went down in 15 seconds and the knockback is key.

Hopefully I won't run into too many unravelers in the tombs. As I'd said before, they are a pain with a Strafezon in rooms with dispersant targets and resurrectable friends.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

I know why Normal Diablo is stronger just seem unbalanced. In all fairness they need to fix Diablo in NM to make him tougher. Or drop Normal Diablo lightning hose damage.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

From looking at diablo's stats it looks to me like if you get an item with mdr and dr, maybe craft one, you should be able to face him. Seeing that his lightningdamage only doubles to NM you are obviously right about him being a lot harder on normal.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

I've got a dilemma...

I was clearing out a False Tomb when I got stuck while poison glitched by Kaa. I exited game with 1 hp left. Was this fair move or should I count that as a deeds? I just don't know how to judge this since I technically would have died out of stupidity.

First off, I wouldn't consider that a glitch. I would call it a good poison attack on a character with little to no poison resistance.

In most tournaments it is prohibited to save and exit to avoid death, although it seems like Morathi forgot to include that rule (it's almost an unsaid rule though). However, if you were in a safe place such as an area without monsters or in town and had 1 hitpoint left, then that would be ok. But to answer your question, if you save and exited to avoid death most of us here would consider that really cheesy and you character may become tainted in some peoples minds, but since the rules don't appear to prohibit it, then your character should still be valid.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Well I don't know about the poison, but losing 300 health in 4 secs not exactly normal for poison damage in normal. Regardless I know about the S&E handbook in Tournies. Just the Toon got too many TC 3 Uniqes I didn't want to waste with a lame death to a skeleton.

If anyone else feel that I should classify it a deeds then so be it. No argument from me.

Re: The Exposure Tournament

Extreme rage ran through the veins of SharpieFrenzy the Barbarian as he looked to instill revenge on the ones who killed his fellow Necromancer SharpieMarker. The Barbarian faced many demons in his path to Andariel. Staying brave and heavy hearted he reached the Catacombs, where he found the one who slayed the Necromancer. A small demon named dark one. The Barbarian laughed at the puny creature and took one mighty swing with his crystal sword to smite him down. The dark one dropped a beautiful unique ring for the Barbarian. SharpieFrenzy right-clicked his handy dandy book of identify to find out he had been rewarded a 23% Nagelring. Finally the level 20 Barbarian reached the last level of the Catacombs, finding the wicked witch in her throne room. Equipping all the potions he could he double swinged his way to victory. The evil monster dropped her worst rares, blues and a unique bardiche called Dimoak's Hew. Revenge was brought forth for the slain Necromancer. The Barbarian sailed east to Lut Gholein where he was set to begin his new journey.

You mean the bug where the character is stuck in a certain spot on the floor, and you can only turn around and not actually move? A Town Portal usually solves this.

What does 'poison glitched' mean?
