Scavazon has just done a full clear of Act 2:shocked: Man was that ever boring. Especially with no set or unique items found. The only possible souvenir was a rare belt with really poor mods on it. But at least she will have some place to put all the potions she needs. She has a real bad Mana habit and without any weapon or armor to start Act 3, she will need a lot of health potions too.

Duriel died rather easily. He was intent on killing Scavazon and completely ignored the merc. Finally, after going back for potions a couple times, she simply squared off and shot exploding arrows into him as she drank health and mana potions like they were water. No merc deaths because Duriel simply ignored him.

Scavazon will begin developing her Valkyrie now. First the decoy will be developed in Act 3, then Evade will be developed in Act 4. That gets the prerequisites out of the way so that she can concentrate on pure Valkyrie in Act 5.

I am considering switching to the Iron wolf merc now, but I may wait until NM Act 3 to do that. It depends on how things are going when we get to Kurast.

Well, Scavazon has just finished a full clear of Act 3 and has only leveled three times. That means that her decoy only has a single point. She does not last long against Mephisto, but recasts are cheap and she was enough of a distraction to make Mephisto rather quick and easy. The merc died once, but he is still rather easy to revive also.

The act 3 souvenir will be the Chance Guard unique chain gloves that she found at the entrance to the Flayer Dungeon. As I recall, I found the same thing when I was playing my assassin in the same place!!! But then, I found a better item to keep. This time, I was glad to have anything worth keeping. My second choice would have been a rare Breast plate with a single socket and a few resistance mods. I could have used it for the merc and then upgraded it later, but the gloves will be very useful with the magic find and gold drop modifier. {by the way, I am currently holding maximum gold in my stash and belt. It is going to seem funny to be dropping all that gold that I find until I can level a couple more times}

Scavazon will be trying to develop Evade in Act 4. She is almost ready to level as she starts Act 4. She hopefully will get two more levels prior to reaching Diablo. Then, she will use her four quest skill points to get her Valkyrie started. Then in Act 5 she will dedicate all skill points to the Valkyrie. That should provide a real tough Valkyrie for NM.

Scavazon changed mercs as she departed act 3. She now has Phaet, an Iron Wolf with cold spells. This could make getting to diablo rather challenging, but when the Valkyrie is born, there will no longer be a need for a tank merc.

Well this is it... Andy's deed will be remembered. hmmm actually, I dont think so. The road to Andy was one of the hardest I ever saw :shocked: The Jail lvl 2 had a trapped near the stair with 3 archers bosspack :

Now that was a real challenge and pain. I couldnt event isolate or park one, I had to go through so Holy shield, Holy Freeze, Zeal, drink, give drink to merc, Zeal, drink, give drink to merc, Zeal, drink, retreat, repeat ... for half an hour. But hey! I managed to survive :soapbox:

Nothing much worth noting, really, but Wereskunk has started act 3 NM finally. He found the first WP, and cleared the Arachnid Lair. So far, only one usable magic item has dropped (an ethereal serpentskin armor, on the merc now)... everything else has been white or crude, or an item for a slot I already have filled. But I've barely started... certainly something will come along soon.

Luckily, though, with a Malice weapon on the merc and a decent Grizzly, killing isn't too slow so far, even on players 8. And the experience is decent, too... I'm putting points into Lycanthropy in this act, so I plan to do a full clear and then run through act 4 as quickly as possible (assuming I get there).
 
Scavazon has defeated Diablo. Diablo dropped two green items(Death's Touch War Sword and Tancred's Crowbill). Both were useless. Scavazon's souvenir decision was between three items. Coif of Glory unique helm. A plate mail with the rune word "Stealth". A reflex bow with the rune word "Zephyr". She decided that the armor was not even good enough for the merc. That left the helm or the bow. She has always known that she would have two bows. One decided on fairly early, and the other much later in the game when really fine bows are available. The question was, "How long would a Zephyr bow be useful?" Of course, the answer is unknown. But she decide to find out. The Zephyr reflex bow will be a nice weapon to start act 5 with.

Full clear of Act 4 resulted in three levels. That allowed scavazon to get the prerequisites out of the way for Valkyrie. Then she used two of her four saved quest skills to start out the Valkyrie. That really helped in the battle with Diablo. In Act 5, she hopes to get another 14 levels so that the Valkyrie can go up to level 16. Then in NM, she will use her quest skills to keep building the Valkyrie until it is maxed out.

Hi. Im done with act 4 now. Progress wasn't fast, seeing how I found my first boots in chaos sanctuary or so. Im beginning to really like this character. It feels very... technical. Assassin + cold mage combo is really great. I especially liked how I dealt with infector of souls. Mind blast a minion running around, mage hits him, i finish him off and retreat. Diablo couldn't do much to me as well. I had to go to town to get some more mana potions, thats all.

However, with my deeds in the No Vit tournament, it's Niki's turn to dust off the weapons and head on out.

Niki's second skill will be Charged Bolt Sentry.

On low players settings, Niki has just been flying through the early game. A 4 hour session saw her through Acts 2 and 3.

Her Act 2 skill was Charged Bolt Sentry, but she ran past as many monsters as she safely could and gained just 3 levels in the act,ending it at level 19. Her souvenir was a 2-socket superior ethereal chain mail that has been donated to her moron forever more.

Her Act 3 skill was Fade. She killed most things she went past in Act 3, but still by no means was doing full clears, she wants to space things out a little bit for now. She gained 6 levels in the act, ending at 25, with a Fade slvl of 4. Her souvenir for the act was a magic ring with 10%FCR and 30%LR. It was nice to find that early in the act as it took the pressure off. I had something nice if nothing better came along!

Orin finished Act I last night. There were no serious difficulties; Teeth is a great skill for clearing out large groups of enemies, at least at low players settings. I had a preserved head and wand to give me some minions for cleaning up stragglers. Finding a souvenir proved difficult, in the end I chose an amulet of the apprentice that I'd originally been planning to sell. I hope that I live long enough to cube it to a prismatic. In the meantime it will help me spam Teeth faster.

He proceeded to clear the sewers with his new defensive merc. This proved a bit more difficult with no gear, but aside from a couple of resurrections for my new friend there weren't any snags. Now I'm on to the desert and (hopefully) some decent gear. All I'm really looking for (besides a decent item to keep for later) is a wand/head combo with Decrepify and Clay Golem to help me take down Duriel.

This is a reminder to all who are approaching Act 5. The ancients may be played on P1, no matter which difficulty you are in.
 
Scavazon has killed Diablo and finished off the cows. Her exploding arrow kills reasonably well but it costs a lot of mana. The Valkyrie is doing real well. She seldom takes any damage and does reasonably well at damaging the enemy. Of course that is physical for the most part.

Scavazon's luck is still running bad. You might recall that her act 4 souvenir was a Reflex bow with two sockets that turned into Zephyr when ORT ETH were added. Of course, that meant that she would find both Hellcast and Wizendraw in Act 5. Both are very comparable with Zephyr, but not good enough to souvenir and eliminate any future bows that might come along. The decision was between three helms and a +30 fire resist ring. The helms were: Berserker's Headgear, a Circlet with+33 lightning resist and a magic War Hat with78 defense. Well, any of the three could be socketed by Larzuk. The decision was to go with the circlet because resistance is in such dire need. Now a RAL will give the circlet another +30 fire resist. Oh, well... Maybe nightmare will result in better choices.

Niki has destroyed Diablo and moved on to Harrogath.

It had been a bit of a calculated gamble moving into /players 4, Act 4 with still only Fire Blast at her disposal. It had performed admirably in Act 3, but really slowed down a fair bit in Act 4, not to a crawl, but appreciably.

That said, it was mostly a safe passage through the act until the very end. The battle with Diablo took the best part of an hour, and while there were no NDEs, I had to make sure I was switched on and on the move all the time. I can't even tell you how many trips back to town there were for potions, but it was a lot!

I had hoped to get her one or two more levels than she did, but she ended up gaining 3 levels and finished with slvl 2 CoS. Her souvenir for the act was a white plated belt that she will use with Charsi in NM assuming she gets that far.

Her fifth skill will be Lightning Sentry...at last. ;)

Scavazon has defeated Andariel at P6 (Whew!) and moved on to the Docks at Kurast. Andariel dropped the unique Defender Viscerataunt. That could have been a souvenir for the merc, but I would rather get those scoring points later, and any shield will do for him.

The souvenir was between Sigon's Shelter Gothic armor, the ring that Akara gave Scavazon for rescuing Cain, The demonhide boots that she had Charsi embue, and a three socketed ethereal gothic armor that the merc could have tried to find runes for. The ring had 56 mana and +20 lightning resist as its best features. The demonhide boots look like this:

Steptoe has completed Act 1. Ice bolt was way more powerful than was needed on P1 it could kill any normal monster with 1 hit and bosses in 2 or 3. Andy didn't last long just run and cast, run and cast till dead. She chose the Biggins Bonnet as the choice was pretty bad and 10 resist all is not to bad.

The next skill was going to be glacial spike but will change to fireball since 18 is still 2 levels away.

Dont count me out... Im still on and running. Act2 is a real pain for a melee char who has low lightning resist with all those Beetle thing. Wait I got Resist lightning skill availlable : Slow but safe killing :thumbsup:

I just cleared the claw viper temple yesterday and I hope to kill the summoner today and then the tombs tomorrow. I will do full report at the end of (hopefully) the act.

A2 was pretty fun, my character had a lot more power than I'm used to this early on - fire blast rips through everything.

I found something neat along the way, but my stubborn perfectionism won't let me keep something with such a high multiplier this early on.
