Scavazon has killed Diablo and moved on to Harrogath. She follows her sister in that achievement, but I hope she does not suffer the same fate in Act 5NM as Scavasin had.

Her Souvenir was easy. I just wish she could use this herself (except it is ethereal!), but the merc will be very happy with it. Along with his armor, this guarantees full resists for the merc in Hell (if we get there).

Well, now it is back to immolation arrow in NM Act 5. The plan is to get a lot of leveling done here so that immolation arrow is high for Hell. Scavazon will be spending quest skills in IA just as she spent the two from Izual there.

Scavazon has a plan. She still has not put anything into weapon or shield for her merc. That means she could switch back to an ACT 1 or Act 2 merc. If she does that, she will only have 13 items to souvenir. That would allow her to replace an item in Hell Act 4. Considering her miserable equipment, that seems a good idea. Does anyone have any ideas on which merc would work best with a fire arrow amazon using a really strong Valkyrie?? My current plan is to get a cold arrow rogue rather than duplicate the physical prowess of the Valk by getting an Act 2 merc.

As far as I'm concerned, you can't have too many good front-line tanks. I'd stick with an act 2 merc. A Holy Freeze merc might be a good idea, to slow everyone down.

I am retired and teach math at a local college part time. School is over until 1/22, so I am in Diablo Heaven. Even when school is in, I get about 40 hours a week of spare time.

Any other opinions?? I sort of like this one because it gives Scavazon a chance to keep her Act 3 merc until late in Act 2 Hell. Remember, you cannot change acts to get a new merc, so I either get my merc while in Act 1 or while in Act 2. I hope I don't forget

When you max out a skill, you can put the points anywhere. For instance, if I make it to Hell Act 1, I should assign points to Valkyrie that I started in Act 5 normal. However, Valkyrie has been maxed to 20 by using some of my quest skill points. Therefore, in Hell Act 1 I can put my skill points anywhere. I will probably put them all in Immolation Arrow in an attempt to max it out also.

I agree with you that the act 3 cold merc is probably the best merc to use, but I really would like to see if I can change one of my equipment souvenirs at the end of Act 4 Hell. But, I admit that it will only be used in Act 5 Hell. It is probably not worth it. Hmmm, maybe I better think about this a bit more.

I'm going to jump back into this. I've had some time away now, and I feel ready to tackle this challenge again. Daniela will be a PS sin with very minimal shadow support, a character type that I have limited experience with but feel optimistic about. I've already more or less cruised through act 1, defeating Andariel at level 14. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring along an imbuable item, and accidentally leveled up while searching for one. The act 1 skill focus was on Dragon Talon; act 2 will be spent on Fists of Fire.

The act 1 souvenir was a pair of gambled heavy gloves of fortune, 21% mf. Not particularly good, but certainly not bad either.

As mentioned previously, Niki is now a Destroyer and has slain the Cow King in a futile effort to get another level. The bar needed to move about 1cm, it moved about 1mm (for you imperials out there, needed to move about 2/5 of an inch, moved about 2/50 of an inch. :wink2

Her selection of souvenir was far from uber, but unfortunately pretty simple as the pickings were slim.

The promised update is here. Act 5 was quite interesting. Start was slow, kicks don't do too much damage without boots. And I really disliked chasing imps all over the place. If it didn't get me so much xp, i'd have probably skipped all open areas. In one of hell areas this dropped:

When i got to level 40 or so LS began getting effective. I used it against bigger groups. While it doesn't do nearly as much damage as dragon talon, but 5 of them lined up tend to kill things quite quickly.

Cows were quite fun. I massed them and fried with LS. Dol rune dropped there as well. Too bad cows gave me barely any XP at all, so I was left about .5 mm from leveling up.

Choosing a souvenir was quite easy. While sanders gloves are quite good, I really need ones with resistances seeing how my other gear doesn't give much. I should be able to craft/gamble something decent. Twitchthroe got a socket. I'll be leaving it empty for now. I have 15 IAS jewel, and maybe ral/ort/thul rune could be used to help me with resistances later. We'll see.

"Blood" axe. Took my white Naga, made it a socketed Naga with the cube recipe, then made it a magic socketed Naga with another recipe, and then crafted it. Could've been a lot better, but I suppose it could've been worse, too. At least it's some leech, life, and nearly double the damage I had before... and that's a noticeable difference. If only it'd gotten some IAS, or a truly good ED% roll... oh well.

Not a single worthwhile find so far in act 3, alas. Both jewelry items I've found give nothing better than a life or MF bonus, which won't cut it in the long run. I've got a crummy white pelt with +2 to grizzly (whoopee). But there's a long way to go still, with several good MF targets coming up... not to mention all those juicy chests in Kurast, assuming I can get there alive.

Scavazon has not passed the test of the Ancients. Her deeds will be remembered. Talic killed her with two quick flying kicks. The merc died earlier and Madawc had been disposed of. The Valkyrie had to be replaced a couple times, but she was holding her own. She just didn't do enough damage quickly enough. Scavazon was doing some damage, but she just was not careful enough. Oh well, it was beginning to get less fun anyway with all that equipment already souvenired.

She barely passed her sister Scavasin, but it was enough to take over first place.

RIP, Scavazon.

OK, now I need to whine some :rant:

I am currently at the Upper Kurast WP. Lower Kurast and the Kurast Bazaar have been quite trying. Why? Because unique items have been dropping like crazy.

Why is that bad?

Well, the first was a pair of Silkweaves, from a chest. Hey, nice unique from a chest is always a nice little surprise. Can't use 'em, though, even if I wanted to, since I already have boot souvenirs.

Next, a Visceratuant, also from a chest. Great, but I'm a druid, and I already have a far better shield for this char. Sigh.

Next... from a chest yet again... a Bloodletter. Great, but I had to sell one of these off already in act 5 normal, since the repair cost is so dreadfully high.

Save game, mule off jewels and gems, return. Enter Upper Kurast, meet boss pack, kill boss, see.... another Bloodletter! Whee! Now I've got TWO!

Sigh. I'm using the Bloodletters for now... I can use an Ort to fully repair them, so at least I don't have to waste $40K or whatever it is. If I don't find anything else (and I haven't, yet), then I can always souvenir one... at least I'd have a weapon to start the next act with.

Yes, it's not amazing. It came down to this armor or the Bloodletter. And to be honest, I'm a little terrified starting act 4 NM at P7 with no weapon. But the thing just costs too much to repair. I'm going to need that gold for merc resurrections. With this nice armor, I'll have great FHR, strong fire resist, and I won't have to waste a socket quest reward on it. I'm guessing an Ort will go in there, probably soon. But then again, a PTopaz might be more help.

Niki has slain Andariel and moved on to the desert town of Lut Gholein. It was slow and steady progress through the act, culminating with Andariel, who was rendered impotent by the Jade Tan Do souvenired in the previous act.

There was a reasonably common souvenir that she hoped to find that is able to be found in Act 6, and find it she did. So she now wears a 4-socket Gothic Plate, socketed for the moment with 3 perfect topazes. Hopefully that helps the future souvenirs. 7 levels gained in the act. Onwards and upwards!

AmIDeadYet worked her way through Act 3. No big problems. Midway through she tried the Savage polearm recipe and got a Savage Poleaxe for her trusty friend. After she got the prereqs out of the way for Glacial Spike, the going was really easy. Freeze the baddies around merc, and let him kill away. No useful S/Us in the act, so the souvenir was a coral ring of craftsmanship. the 30% LR will be of great use down the line, and I won't have to bother with trying for better with the cube recipe. I also found a great LR charm with 21% on it so lightning isn't a big worry.
I was hoping to be at least lvl 29 by the end of the act but it wasn't to be. So the skill for Act 4 will be Chain Lightning.

I won't update the table until I complete act 4 or die trying, but Wereskunk managed to get to the City of the Damned WP last night.

Pretty wild, starting act 4 with no weapon. The merc has a good one, though, and the bear is pretty tough, so we had only a few rough spots. I did park a couple of boss packs, though... those Stygian Hags are my nemesis... they keep makin' babies, and my dumb merc and bear target them instead of the Hags.

Finally found a crude rune sword on my way out of the first area, then a socketed rune scepter right before the Izzy fight. Used three normal gems to convert that to a magic socketed rune scepter, then rerolled it with chips to get one with a mediocre second mod and two open sockets. That will most likely be my weapon until something else drops. I also crafted a caster amulet, without even one decent mod... I did find a nice blue ring, though, with lightning resistance and 5% life leech. Time to move onto the River of Flame, and hope that some decent finds (and lucky monster rolls) await me.

RIP Scavazon.

Daniela has managed to kick Duriel to death and advance to Act 3. In the process, several useless S/U's were found (Angelic Sickle, Civerb's Ward, and Sander's Taboo). Sander's Gloves would actually have been a nice addition, but I had already souvenir'd a pair of mf gloves in Act 1, so they had to be passed up. I was lucky enough to find a very nice rare claw in the rocky waste (15-19 damage, which is higher than anything else I managed to find the whole act), which made the rest of the act pretty much a breeze. A couple of routine NDE's occurred against the beetles, but since those happen to me with every character other than a paladin, it didn't get me all that nervous. I full-cleared everything through the Arcane Sanctuary, then realized that I didn't really need that many levels and zipped through to Duriel, killing only those monsters that got in my way. I was forced to gamble once again for a souvenir, as nothing even remotely decent dropped along the way, and I ended up with this:

Scaveress has begun to make an impact on the world of Diablo. She has killed Andariel and given her merc a Christmas present of Rare ring mail armor. Nothing much to brag about, but Scaveress will upgrade that to Linked mail as soon as she can.

I have a new plan for this character. I am going to save the prime souvenirs for later and use the early acts for the merc and for rings and amulet. That should reduce the overall score:sad2: , but it may give Scaveress a chance to apply better equipment than her sisters have been able to acquire. We shall see.
