You know, duping is a GOOD thing.

I dont think the OP gets it really, D2 is Blizzards sort of beginning into MMORPG's. Hell look at the manual, they even thank Everquest in it. This expansion and the godly runewords are whats supposed to seperate hardcore players and casual people.

Spirit? Insight? Obedience? Malice? Strength? Honor? Oath? Edge? Those are just from the top of my head of Runewords that are accessible that don't cost an arm and a leg. Just because they aren't "teh pwn" doesn't mean they're not good. Have you even tried any of those runewords besides spirit?

Duping overstimulates an economy, causing non perf runewords and runes themselves to absolutely crash in value. Just like the Baal Eye [hack] that made Eyes worth pgems. Duping is not a good thing, whether it benefits you or not. I agree that there should be some middle ground and higher drop rates or HRs. However, duping isn't a solution.

So you're saying the insane lag that was present during the public dupe fest was a good thing? You think it's a nice feature to get a CI during a baal run when someone decides to go kaboom?

there should be some cheap runewords that are at least semi good

Rhyme
Smoke
Lore
Spirit

There's four. If you have skills you don't need the uber items. Trouble is so many people don't want to play the game they just want to rush though, never develop their skills and have to use stuff to compensate. Very sad.

Why do you think blizzard added ANNI's? To get rid of the duped sojs. But it was TOTALLY pointless.

Sojs were duped so much that 1 soj would = basically nothing. People were giving it away.

That was GREAT. Dupers ruined the soj economy and thus we found other stuff to use such as UNID WF.

Than blizzard introduced ANNI's and made DUPING sojs worth while again. Makes me MAD.

Same as runewords, they introduce them as if to get rid of dupes giving them more incentive.

Harmony and treachery make a great combo.

And my view is, if you don't like a game don't play it.
Or don't play on the game makers server unless you want to play by their rules.

Duped SoJs STILL aren't worth much. Just like an individual HR isn't worth much. But, didn't you say that Duping helped us? So how can you be mad for duping being "encouraged" since it's so helpful and all?

Malice is one. And they're low end runes for a reason. Hell, Steel's another one that's great for low lvls.

No no, I don't think you get it. You'd have to play something like 10 hours a day to get the runes necessary for a Last Wish and finish it with any time left in the ladder season. It's not the drop odds are bad, it's that they're ridiculously bad. Simply bad drop odds I could accept. I mean, certain items like Tal's Armor, IK Armor. Really hard to find, but possible to find by a person who plays a lot, but within reason.

And yeah, I was just saying that as an estimate. 1:100000 is alright too. Hell, maybe even 1:500000 or something.

10 hours a day is nothing. This is exactly what I mean- Hardcore vs Casual. The same exact issue goes on with MMO's.

The whole problem with your statement is it doesnt include EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON playing the game. You playing every day might not ever find a Cham. 50,000 people playing every day? The odds get alot better. And this is exactly how its supposed to be, by design.

Yes? You don't need it. End of story.

I am far more impressed by a paladin using orange full plate mail and a two handed sword.

I think it is perfectly feasible to get the good runewords in a dupless econonomy, you have to be more savy in your trades, but those runes are gonna be out there, I found a Jah and an Ohm in a month and a half of playing, but I also clock a huge amount of hours, I have found the complete tal set, 2 sojs, 2 maras.. so yeah I would have been able to make a godly/semi godly runeword legit.

The simple fact is, you don't need high runewords to play the game. Yes, Blizzard certainly doesn't help matters with some of the runewords they came up with like Last Wish. (Honestly, if you look at it in terms of legit runes, it's not worth making. What you get isn't worth the amount of time it would take to get it.) However, I think it would be refreshing to see how the game worked with a large economy like B.net, but without the duping.

I guess what I really don't get about the whole thing is how people find satisfaction playing a game where they know that cheating was involved to get them where they are. Sure, they may not have done the actual duping, but trading for items that are known to be dupes really isn't any better. It would just completely suck the fun out the game for me since anything I accomplished would be cheapened.

after the rust storm and ladder reset, it will take 2 hours until every diablo player has at least 7 last wish'. They will be the new soj.

Runes like zod and so forth, will litter the bloody hills like so much left-behind gold. The dupers will dupe it all....all of it, hundreds of billions of every item/rune or whatever that drops. Within 2 hours of the new ladder, the economy will be so flooded with dupes that all of our computers will freeze from the lag. The zillions of Zods, and windforces, and cruel claws will actually start shooting out of our computer screens and into our bewildered faces like so much confetti. We'll stare aghast at the newly materialized representations of our digital fascination while the dupers sit back and scheme about how to ruin other games, like WOW or GW or Everquest...
