You know, duping is a GOOD thing.

D2 was a better game without all of these runewords and new uniques. But with a method out there, *something* is bound to be duped.

ultrabadbob, i guess you want to play for 2-3 years just to make one godly runeword then? lol if you've got the time and it doesnt hurt your bum sitting in the chair all that time, rock on dude.

Or maybe he wants to play the game as intended? You don't need "teh l337" runewords to play. If you think that then I feel sorry for you. There are plenty of mid lvl runewords that are just as good and easily accessible.

can you, just for a second, imagine a game where like three people in the entire community have an enigma? imagine if you were the one person who had a chaos, and thus were the one person with a ww assasin. everyone would think that you were some god or something.

It's called Single Player. Take a peek at that forum and see how few people have Enigmas, Last Wishes, Infinities and the like. Very, very few. Yet everyone there can quest through hell with what they found on their own (with some limited trading). Uber runewords...keep dreaming and yet all sorts of crazy builds are born and become mats/pats, or even guardians.

Do you need the best items to finish this game, definitely not. For those that declare duping a necessary evil I have a suggestion: take your first 3 characters through Hell untwinkled, then your next 3 decked out in duped high-end items. Tell us which 3 were more challenging, exciting and overall more fun to play. No rushing allowed of course, you need to quest as the game was intended to be played. I'm willing to bet that the first set is more enjoyable.

Just my two cents...

as intended? people keep saying play the game as intended, but do you really know for a fact what the people at blizzard intended?

I guess that could be true because they don't really mind the G-Rush since they're not patching it. But people who play single player and hardcore must have a lot of dedication and patience! I admit, I could not play Diablo 2 LOD wihtout G-Rush, The "common" but godly runeworded items, and all those duped items.

Yes. Read the EULA. By agreeing to that, you acknowledge that that's what they expect from you and all their other players. Their rules and regulations reflect what they intend the game to be.

Or are you suggesting that Blizzard intended for there to be duping/hacking?

no not saying blizzard intended there to be duping. answer me a question though. i know there are item sites selling virtual items for diablo 2 ive seen them before. now, we all know many of those items are duped right? the items are all sole property of blizzard entertainment right? now they must have had some sort of permission from blizzard to sell the virtual items. why on earth would blizzard let these people sell duped items and make money off of a game that blizzard developed? yes ive read it but when they came out with 1.10 and these new runewords like botd, enigma, etc. how do we really know that blizzard only intended a few people to have these? unless it literally came out of an employee's mouth i cant say what blizzard really intended. they knew people would dupe, just like they always have. i mean they didnt even run a storm for the reset lol. btw, do you have an enigma, botd, and some of the other popular runewords? i'd be willing to bet you do

mursilis.............it's called hero editor actually. someone might say they've created these runewords on sp, but the fact of the matter is, how do you know they didnt use an editor?

So your saying its inevitable? That people will find some kind of "illiegal but easy way".

Umm.. that's not quite what I was trying to say.

It was more of a reply to those people who are saying, "Blizzard intended for the game to have duping" by putting out runewords.

If we want to talk about it like that, then we'd have to do away with ALL items.

*****If we could stay on the topic of "dupes" and maybe not "grush" etc, this thread would be a tad easier to follow.

Blizzard doesn't give any of the item stores permission to sell D2 items. The reason they can is because they are all based overseas where U.S law is not enforced.

I do oh so enjoy people saying "learn to play nub."

Listen, I can do just fine with non godly items. I once had the very definition of an untwinked Assassin... got her to level 91 HC. Through most of hell she was still using an Angelic Set, some random circlet that gave +2 to traps, and the mighty Ward (I still adore this shield). Then she started getting what we call "uber" with a slick Tal Rasha's Plate and Verdungo's Hearty Cord she found, then she beat hell. (For the record, she never died, the season reset first)

Anyway, I know this doesn't much matter and that I can't actually prove any of this... but I just think the elitism is funny. Perhaps... perhaps just because I want to play around with runewords without playing 10 hours a day... perhaps it doesn't necessarily mean I'm someone who can't play the game without "godly gearz?" Just a thought.

and how do you know they are all based overseas? im just curious. so you buy an items from a store that's overseas, then it's xfer'd to your account which is not overseas, but they can't do anything about that? what was the massive ebay ban about then? i honestly dont know im just asking b/c maybe you know some about this

I don't think it's elitism. It's called common courtesy. Dupes ruined the in game economy. It's a joke now. Classic Diablo 2 bnet was great. This was the time before massive hacks and dupes existed. Seems like all the nonsense increased ten fold after the expansion arrived.

Your time excuse is irrelevant as I don't have 10 hours to play a day either. However, I make do with what time and items I find. I suggest you play a twitch, pick up and play game if you can't handle playing D2 correctly. Your fun came at the expense of people who want the game to be played it was intended. You know...no dupes, map hacks, exploits, etc.

the use of dupes, especially those overpowered dupewords that pollutes ladder the moment anyone has enough high runes to start duping, is only good for nooblets incapable of playing the game, and the worse they are at this game the more attention they seem to pay to those items.

Oh no, no elitism at all there. "Learn to play, nub." That's all I see there.

For the last time, just because I think the drop probabilites are stupid as hell doesn't mean I can't play without overpowered runewords. I'm just fine at "making do." And it also doesn't mean I use maphack, chickenhack, or any other exploit.

And I'll also say... in the grand scheme of things, this isn't exactly the most difficult game anyway. If you're primarily playing this game for challenge I think you're looking in the wrong place.

... whatever. I really need to just stop replying to posts with this mindset entirely.

Why not play on open bnet then? I don't see why I have to suffer just because people like you support this kind of nonsense. I already gave in and retired to the single player forums because of this garbage. You might not use any sort of hacks or exploits but you damn well contribute to the problem. People like you are the reason I gave up on battle.net.

Explain to me how me using the "Dragon" runeword on a character is ruining the game for you. Please, do tell me. Please tell me how me using any item is ruining the game for you.

I don't know maybe unfair advantage on the ladder? You multiplied by a 1000 other people with high level rune words on the ladder. People like you who duel with duped gear. Should I go on? You people should be on open battle.net with the rest of the cheaters. The rankings used to be all legit. Now it's whoever has the most twinked up DUPED godly gear. It's not a big deal if you enjoy doing that. Just fess up and admit you like cheating and having an advantage. You hide behind the excuse of "not having 10 hours a day". Good for you. Just know that you help contribute to the problem. You guys had open battle.net why did you need to bring that crap to closed bnet?
