To my taste, being a glass cannon is a matter of style for a bowazon. I usually don't add too much into vit. Something like 800 life is OK for me. Once the str reqs are met, all the rest beyond that goes into dex.
The meteorb sorc is your most efficient item finder, i.e. she's good with basic gear and is quick at producing loot. Even better, there's a lot of sorc gear which makes her strong and adds lots of MF, like Tal's set. For a meteorb, I would go with full Tal's because it adds to cold damage and reduces enemy fire res. Everything but the armor can be found at hell Meph. She's very good at Pindleskin and the Ancient Tunnels. Those few fire+cold immunes are to be killed by the merc... or you ignore them by teleporting away if that's too tedious. Pindle cannot be fire+cold immune because he's already poison immune and more than two immunities aren's possible... except monsters in Über Tristram, but this seems to be about single player.
The problem with self-sufficient melee characters is always the weapon. In case your barb finds a Steeldriver, that's the weapon that will bring him through nightmare when upped to exceptional! Its -50% reqs make it rather easy to equip which is a great advantage to e.g. Bonesnap, apart from Bonesnap having no IAS which is bad for WW because only on-weapon IAS works on that skill. Upping Steeldriver to elite might be an option once you reach hell mode, but I have no experience with that... I'm not playing untwinked. Bonesnap is still good versus act bosses (not using WW, but concentrate) because of its chance to deal crushing blows. Just don't upgrade it.
A lightning trapper is excellent versus non-immunes and you can also invest into fire blast which receives synergy bonuses from a few lightning trap skills and vice versa. Infinity will make things easier, but it will take too long to find the needed two Ber runes in order to achieve effectiveness at the same time.
