Why can I not seem to get a Soj

Hi guys,

I've just cannot seem to get a Soj!

I've run nm aderial a good few dozen time (ok in the grand scheme of things thats not a lot) with my zealot pally with 150%+ mf at 5 players and still no love :-(

Is there any better location to run at low lvls to help me get a Soj...well 2 would be best for my developing blizzballer sorc

NM andy is best, and a few dozen times is not even close to what you'd need on average for just 1 SoJ.

How many unique rings have you found so far?

If you run a target that is not too high in monster level (NM Andariel is good), 1 in 31 unique rings will be a SoJ.

ATMA is telling me the drop chance for NM andy on p5 with 150MF is 1:3339... so yeah, you're JUST a bit off.

With 150 MF on p5, NM Andariel drops a soj once every 3339 runs, on average.

Too slow apparently :)

Don't let it discourage you, though! You might get a SoJ in your next run, and even if you don't you'll get lots of juicy items on the way.

(or it might take you 5k runs to get one.)

I wouldn't be too disappointed, I've never seen a SoJ since LoD came out - 8 years ago, was it?

Assuming he gets the 1st kill drop from her, like almost everyone else, the chances for her to drop the SoJ are actually 1:1158. But that's still a lot more than just a few dozen runs ;).

I've had around 6-7 unique rings drop so far. But nm andy has been pretty generous never the less I've had a tals armlet, string of ears (max LL% + 14%DR) and x2 skin of the vipermagi both +33 RS :thumbup:

All from under a 100 runs....

I take it she wont drop very high end items though

Plus a x2 coldkills (ideal for my up coming frenzy barb) and a headstriker...which got my zeal pally through nightmare in a breeze

Yes, don't let it get you down, patience is key... Here's a link to the SoJ MF FAQ for details if you're interested, it's pretty thorough.

I you want to go the cheesy way, there would be a little trick with downgrading versions.

If i remember correctly, there was a version where uniques that were allready in the game could not drop again. So if you carry with you all the unique rings except SoJ, the next unique ring that drops would be guaranteed to be a SoJ.

I think that this is in classic though, so you will probably need to level a char just for running NM andariel.

I am not certain on details any more, because i owuldnt do something that cheesy :) But if you search the forum, there is certainly some info about this.

this reminds me when i bought lod expansion one and half year ago and started to play in battle.net. i got soj at first time when i visited andy. not remember was it nm or hell. and soon after that i got second soj from tamoe highland random chest while my third best item was tal orb which somebody gave me. played battle.net couple months and got tired it and moved to sp. now i have played sp over year and much much more than battle.net and haven´t seen soj. but basicly you could play couple hours and get two soj like me. pure luck i guess.

You won't get a SOJ from NM Andy in classic, her monster lvl is to low. Older versions of LOD, yes, but NOT classic. However, champions around her or on lvl 3 catacombs can drop a SOJ.

I restarted about 1.5 years ago. I never run Andy for items, and the RNG is very hit or miss for me.

Until about a month or two ago, I hadn't found and SoJ. I ended up netting my first one the in AT; the next SoJ I found was in the AT as well, but less than 48 hours later!

It'll come. Like most everything else in this game, it takes patience.

I never actually look for them...since playing D2 (maybe 7 years on and off) i've found around 6/7...none in LoD, all a mixture of hardcore and softcore classic..my last one dropped from Diablo normal and considering he's very easy and quick to kill with a sorc in classic norm ide suggest hitting him very hard all day with a FO pounder....probly get some down time because of the speed if you online.. probly not considering the forum were in :)

I ended up doing a bit over 800 runs, before taking a break. During the break, I opened a chest on the way to Mephisto in the Durance Level 2, and out popped a shiny SoJ. A couple of weeks later, while MP'ing Baal runs hosted by Liquid Evil, I get another one. :thumbsup: If you keep playing, eventually it'll drop for you.

I was leveling my meteorb with normal Baal runs when Baal dropped SoJ. My first. The meteorb doesn't tough wear it as she prefers two nagelrings.
