If only it were ethereal :( Rare items can also be up'ed so if you ever find any good 350% ed++ ethereal items don't just throw them away at first sight.

I was bored the other day and Up'ed a 394% eth Giant Axe I found...When I was done with it, it hit's very near 1k dmg with dual leech and 30% ias :)

Yea, check out the rare throwing weapons i have in the guide, they kick ass :D

well after upping it twice, it obviously beats those cruel winged harpoons of regeneration/quickness that were so sought after in 1.09. i'll hold on to it. the amp damage is nice too. maybe some day, i'll make a thrower

Did ya see my thread on Treachery? Worth mentioning in your new guide, methinks! Also, just figured this out - you CAN hit lower than 4 fps with Thrown weapons!!!! You can hit 3.5 fps if you have a merc with a Faith bow, enough IAS, and fast-enough weapons. My experiment showed you could hit 3.5 with dual Gargoyle's Bite, 135% IAS (M'avina's with a 15% jewel = 45%, Treachery = 45%, Cat's Eye/Highlord's = 20%, Gloves = 20% - goes over the limit, but nice!), and a merc with the lowest level of Fanaticism possible on Faith: 12.

Thanks again for the great guide - looking forward to the reprint!

[EDIT] Wooops! Just realized you touched on this on page 2 of the thread - my bad! Also - I'm jealous of your Thrown weapons - dang!

Just thought you should also mention that the damage shown on the LCS, is way off indeed. The actual dmg done can be calculated manually, but is roughly 1/3 of what it states :( This and the fact that in 1.09 Throw dmg was not nerfed like other PVP skills, made it a popular build for PvM and PvP. With the arrival of 1.10, things were back to normal but the LCS also kicked in.

Throwbarb Question

What if I put a point into War Cry. If I manage to stun oncoming monsters in PvM, will this help as a tactic?

Yes it can be a great help if you want to use the extra skill points to get it. Battle Cry can also be effective so monsters are easier to hit and hurt you less. Its all a matter of play style. I tend not to use the warcries because of the amplify damage on lacerators because it cancels out Battle Cry on an enemy.

They are 14 IAS 40 enhanced damage jewels and they are very hard to find. Maybe someone can post good farming locations?

They cost about 5-6 hrs IIRC for one on ladder, and I believe they are duped but safe once you put into armor/helm/weapon.

Overall, I had a few probelms with this guide. For instance, it claims to advocate non-cookie cutter status, yet enigma and arreat's are favored. Enigma is about the most cookie cutter item in the game. Also, putting in just enough str to wear gear is what almost everyone does.

And bo....I'm likely the only human being now to build a barb who does not put any points into bo. Bo is VERY cookie cutter.

As with many guides, I found some of the advice a bit too scattered. For instance, skill points put in everywhere and all sorts of mods are deemd great when it may be better to prioritize and miss out on some mods for the greater good. You can't have it all in d2.

For instance, bloodfist good all the time? There are certainly better things to wear later on as bloodfist are pretty low level gloves. Plus, is FHR really needed at all on a non-melee barb? You're not going to be at the front lines getting hit all the time so I figgure this mod is nearly useless.

I still don't understand why everyone is so against str. I've been putting 4 str points each level into my throwbarb and I'm noticing very nice damage increases which is only going to get better with more levels and better ed gear. We're talking significant damage increase. Just 300 points in str is going to be like having an invisible fort on.

Anyway, throwbarbs are not exaclty the little guy that people use to make a nerfed and challenging character. Maybe in PvP, Idk, I never duel. But in PvM, throwbarbs are amazing and can do massive damage AND can do chaos runs with no worries about IM.

Re: Ultimate Throw Barb Handbook V1.00 By Penguin

Okay, if that's the case I won't wast time on a 160ed/60ias armor.

I'm only looking for a barb different from what my friends are playing, and since I've never made a throw barb it looks fun. Gimmershred and Deathbit combined with Razortail's piercing attack and amplify damage from Atma's Scarab should do it.

^ It's much easier to trade for an already made 60-160 than to gather the jewel's yourself. You still would have to be pretty rich though.

Good luck with your throw barb.

Re: Ultimate Throw Barb Handbook V1.00 By Penguin

Could anyone actually tell the damage of such a barb shown on character screen? I know it needs to be divided by 3.

Re: Ultimate Throw Barb Handbook V1.00 By Penguin

I think OP is a bit wrong with the pvm suggestion.. cant beat the ds and pierce of warshrikes
