I have no idea why I wrote Diablo when I meant omw to Dia.

I always fail to take those nice printscreens at boss drops.. Ill make a note on that for baal. ;)

So Malice the fishymancer continues to move slowly, mostly due to RL/play time issues than killing power. Still in Act 1. Cleaned out the Buriel grounds, crypt and Masoleum. Lvl 11. Hopefully can have the same success as Archone. No S/Us yet. I have 20 chippes and none of them have been yellow or green yet :(. I like single pass full clears a lot so far, it completely removes the frustration of trying to find exits, every time you enter an area you know exactly what you have to do before moving to the next area. It can be a little tricky to run through previous areas when restarting the game however, likely more so on hell. Does anyone have some tips on what good play session stopping points would be to help minimize this (eg. Playing until you grab the cold plains WP, don't start ACT 3 unless you are planning on going all the way to the lower Kurast WP, or others, I just made these up without knowing if they are true)

Goal will be to finish Act 1 today.

No he can't, unless it was severely change in a recent patch, in which case I recant my statement.

"Unique Items Diablo cannot drop:
- Astreon's Iron Ward (Caduceus)
- Crown of Ages (Corona)
- Darkforce Spawn (Bloodlord Skull)
- Death's Fathom (Dimensional Shard)
- Death's Web (Unearthed Wand)
- Executioner's Justice (Glorious Axe)
- Earthshifter (Thunder Maul)
- Gargoyle's Bite (Winged Harpoon)
- Ghostflame (Legend Spike)
- Griffon's Eye (Diadem)
- Mang Song's Lesson (Archon Staff)
- Shadowdancer (Myrmidon Boots)
- Steelpillar (War Pike)
- Steelrend (Ogre Gauntlets)
- Stormspire (Giant Thresher)
- Templar's Might (Sacred Armor)
- The Cranium Basher (Thunder Maul)
- The Grandfather (Colossus Blade)
- Tyrael's Might (Sacred Armor)
- Windforce (Hydra Bow)

Set Items Diablo cannot drop:
- Both of Bul-Katho's Swords (Colossus Blade & Mythical Sword)
- Griswold's Honor (Vortex Shield)
- Griswold's Redemption (Caduceus)
- Griswold's Valor (Corona)
- Immortal King's Soul Cage (Sacred Armor)
- Mavina's True Sight (Diadem)
- Natalya's Mark (Scissors Suwayyah)"

In Act I, only the Cold Plains, Outer and Inner Cloister WPs are guaranteed to be good save points. Just look for waypoints near the exit of the area. Never save at the Stony Field WP because you would have to sneak past Rakanishu to continue.

Act II is tricky, there are no good save points in the desert areas unless you find one near the exit to the next area, of course. Arcane Sanctuary and Canyon are very good, obviously.

In Act III you can get a fairly good save point in the Flayer Jungle, since the WP always spawns in some side alley of the main river. After that, the three Kurast maps are all good save locations if you always move in parallel to the map border, back and forth. This way you always know which part of the map you have already cleared when you reach the WP.

In Act IV both WPs are good save locations.

Act V is tricky - Frigid Highlands WP, Arreat Plateau WP, Frozen Tundra WP are good. I typically clear everything up to the Frozen Tundra WP before I take on the Nihlathak quest.

Thor cleared all four reamining false Tals tombs without any problems, but had no interesting drops...Same can be said about Arachnid lair in A3, though...He is lvl 28 right now (almost 29), so his final destiny (FoH + Convinction) is close, but in the future he will be melee (Holy Shock), Ranger (also Holy shock) and caster character (FoH + Convinction) at the same time - very interesting idea, really looking forward for his future adventures

Thanks Morathi for such great opportunity

I'm no expert on drops, but I don't see why he couldn't drop all of that stuff.

I just leave the game running in between static location waypoints. The game doesn't really bother anything being alt-tabbed out. In dislike running through previous areas, especially in NM and hell. If you do have to run through a previous area it's generally acceptable to save and exit if you get into to trouble instead of dying.

@rip: that's cool about not upgrading from 1.11 I can see your point. I never found anything over a vex in pre 1.13 though.

I'm not an expert on drops either, but what I understand is the following: Bosses and SuperUniques have their own Max TC, the monster level as such has nothing to do with it (it can just prevent some very high qlvl S/Us to drop from, e.g., Pindle). Diablo drops up to and including TC84. Caduceus is TC87. It can drop from random bosses in the Chaos Sanctuary, though. It can NOT drop from the seal bosses, because for some reason their Max TC is 78. Would love to see a GoMule/ATMA readout of that Astreon's...

Edit: I'm not implying anything, I'm genuinely interested.

SP is superior to ladder play! Just to be able to paus! ;)

Ill be doing more sp in the future! Dont consider me converted, but I love it!

Plus the two aboslute best: after Sewers and after Claw Viper Temple. :)
I usually have little problem with this in Act II. There is generally a good amount of space in the desert areas so you can run around the enemy packs.

In Act III NM and Hell, I always clear the whole outside jungle areas, Spider Cavern and Flayer Dungeon in one go. After Stormtree's pack is killed, I run into LK, grab the WP and save. I usually save Arachnid Lair and Swampy Pit for later (they are close to WPs). In NM it's because those 30k+ gold items pile up, in Hell it's because the playing session gets huge enough as it is...

In Act V NM and Hell, I play so I do not need to start a session in an ice cave. Far too dangerous with Frenzytaurs, snakes and such.

Things have changed quite a bit for Martina. The 'Daggerzon and Mage' setup ended with the Andariel fight. But before that, Martina had a scary NDE in the first room of Catacombs 4. She was fighting an LE + Extra Strong Ghoul pack, carefully picking off the minions one by one, casting Decoy often because it got killed fast. When the boss was alone, she moved in behind the Decoy and was about to stab the boss when the Decoy crumbled again and the boss jumped her and hit her once. Red orb plummeted to very low levels! She had only 570 life at the time, and 16% lightning resist. Of course it didn't help that Jelani was inducing sparks all the time. Slammed the rejuve button and backed off. "Jelani, you fix this, eh? While I stand over here and try not to faint when I think about how close it was..."

The Andariel fight was tame in comparison. Of course, now I had my good 60% block shield, and I pumped Vita more so I reached a bit over 600 life. Shield block combined well with Dodge and Avoid, so Martina was a pretty slippery target. Pretty neat that she Avoided the posion spray a bunch of times. I used Crushflange for about half of Andi's life bar, Heart Carver for most of the rest and Skull Splitter's OW for the last bit. I wanted to hold Milabrega's shield. Letting Andi bump into a Decoy and then take 1-2 swings at her in safety was a good plan. I even left Jelani dead for the last part because I could focus better when his distracting ice and sounds weren't there. No green and gold in her drop, though.

Lots of rearraging followed. I hired Ahsab the Might merc and switched out every piece of the merc gear. Ahsab was geared up with The Impaler, Tancred´s Skull (hey, it has +10% ED!) and Skin of the Flayed One (mostly for the life steal). Martina had found Blastbark unique Long War Bow and decided to finally become a fire Bowazon. She maxed Immolation Arrow and put about 10 points in Exploding Arrow. I upgraded Blastbark. Why not? I have plenty of upgrading supplies and I already met the stat requirements for a Gothic Bow. Immolation Arrow does about 900 damage on the explosion now. This is the first time I have really tried that skill. I had no idea it has a casting delay. I got used to that quickly though, and I like the skill a lot. It has a unique feel to it.

The two skill points I have earned in Act II went to Pierce, because it just occured to me that it could be helpful. Looks like it is.

I feel like my treasure hunt has really taken off now, after Blade of Ali Baba dropped in the desert (appropriately enough). Martina greedingly clutches this Blade and Mil's blue shield as much as possible, only using Immolation Arrow in short bursts. Progress is easy now. Ahsab can almost do it by himself, but sometimes he needs help. Decoy and potions are usually enough, and I do not mind the occasional resurrection since staying back makes the progress much safer than the Daggerzon route. Income is going through the roof now that my repair costs have almost disappeared.

I keep gambling up nearly all my gold, mostly on rings (the empty slot annoys me) and the occasional Short War Bow.

I have been questioning if gambling is really worth it in this tourney. With the low chance to get something useful and the relatively high price of things that likely would be gambled (ammys, rings). Probably a bit build dependent, but I was thinking it might be a better strategy to save money for merc resurrections and repairs...or with single pass do you acquire enough gold to not have to worry about this?

Also, do we have to repair s/u that lose durability and can't be used. I am thinking there might be times I would rather keep it equiped and not functioning than switch to a two hander or an item with difficult stat reqs, or pay a ton of gold I want to use for gambling/merc ressurections.

I usually gamble away all the gold except for a buffer for a few merc resurrections and/or repairs (a few hundred k in Hell). Just sell every staffmodded / +skills item and exceptional / elite armour you find, and you'll usually have more than enough gold.

I wouldn't gamble for ammys or rings in Normal (in this tourney), I'd go for cheaper item types that have both a useful set and unique version (such as Heavy Gloves).

Well didn't quite make it to Andariel but still made some progress. Malice is sitting at lvl 17 and has killed every monster and popped pretty much every poppable up to the outer cloister. Things continue to go smooth but the irony is that I have the most mf and kills out of any character up to this point in the game, and gambled the most heavy gloves and not a single green or gold item yet to post. Usually something has dropped by now. Hopefully they were just hoarding all the treasure in the Monestary.

I have picked up a ton of chipped sapphires so far, 12 to be exact (compared to the 4 topazes). I cry every time cursing that I am not in 1.07...

Malice the fisheh mancer lvl 17 outer cloister. S/U=0

No items dropped in A5 so far, only a huge amount of rares..

Im now at the Ancients in Hell.. Wont be a problem at all I guess, will reroll them so I dont get any PH Immunes or Stone Skin.
Then bring my shiny Iron Golem+Iron Maiden, and let them kill themselfs!! Muhahah!

Peace
