Top X moments of D2

It's time to revive this noble thread.

We all have quit this game at some time, and re-take it, and quit again, and re-take again. We all have great moments about it, time to share this moments, it doesn't matter if it's a bad moment, or a good moment, just share it:

1.- Finding a unique ring, and you think "Great, another nagel, I wish it could be a SoJ (lol for yourself)"...... then you id it and find the letters "Stone of Jordan" in your screen! :jig: (happened to me with my SoJ).

2.- When you go untwinked (due because you want or because of tourney rules), clear the Gidbinn quest and expect at least a decent ring from Ormus, then you get his "This ring does me no good" then you see it and think "It doesn't to me either!"

3.- Doing thousands and thousands of runs expecting a single item, get furious because you don't get it and continue with your journey, and when you less expect it..... bam! dropped from devilkin.

4.- Get angry because not being to find even a good socketable and then read on DarkChaos self-found HC grail (u h4x00r!!!)
 
#2 DEFINITELY applies to me!!!

After a bout of self-conflict, I decided to restart and do a self-found grail...

Well, I get to the Gidbinn (Normal mind you...) and complete it, go to Ormus, and of course like always, he says, "This magic ring does me no good." And, LIKE ALWAYS, I reply, "Me neither." Low and behold, 3 Res Ring with 11%MF!!!

from my bnet days.
1. running killing the guy in fridgid for things to sell with my noobtrapper, then Igambeled a circlet (or tiara, dunno), a really godly one with +2 nec skills, 20 fcr resists like stats or life and so on :jig: traded it for an enigma bp and an ohm, my friend was sooo jealous seeing my hammerdin teleporting ;)
Well, after a while I pu d2 down for a while, and stupidly enough i didnt realise I WAS (no matter what) coming back, well, when I did my precious hammerdin with the eni had expired :(
well, at least I had the feeling of owneing an enigma for a while :D
 
1. This goes back to 1.09 and just starting to get into MFing. I did not even know all the items, so I was a bit clueless. I was wandering the Ancient Way when a run into a boss pack. After dispatching them, I see a gold Colossus Blade - one of the first CBs I had ever seen fall. I think to myself, "Hay that must be a pretty good item," oblivious to what it is and how hard it was to find. After IDing it, I was pretty happy to throw it on my Frenzier (the same guy who found it).

2. Playing in the first HC tourney on the SPF. Seven of us, one for each class, and my Barb made it to Hell. One Guardian from the bunch, but it was alot of fun and started a trend that continues today.

3. Winning the second HC tourney I played in.

After the restart, I was pushing a completely untwinked pure Blizz sorc through Hell. This is her adventure.

Clearly, this was going to be tough. With at least one Ancient guaranteed to be CI, and the others possibly LI as well, even my Static Field would not help me here. I had to keep my merc alive at all costs...


After a few (dozen) rerolls, I had what I wanted.

Talic, WW
-magic resistant
-stone skin
-FI


Korlic, Leaper
-extra fast
-extra strong
-CI

Madawc, Double Throw
-stone skin
-spectral hit
-LI


After dividing the three to separate corners of the map, which took half my life potions to properly execute...

I made my choice.

Talic was first. His WW shaved half my life bulb in one hit, so I couldn't risk fighting him with no potions. I got him to focus on the merc, and laid into him with Blizzards hard.

Talic is dead. I now have no health potions.

Korlic is next. I chose Korlic as my CI because I felt my merc could tank him, and he did, with ease. I cheered in the background as Azreal delivered the mighty final blow.

Madawc...this guy is either the easiest or the hardest Ancient of all time. I can dodge his blows fairly well, yet I can really only make one mistake, or else I'm dead. Remember, no more red potions.

Luckily, Azrael has good regenerative abilities, so I parked Madawc in the opposite corner, and took a much-needed breather.

Well, that was my one hit. No more mistakes.

Thus, we began our final assault. Azrael locked down Madawc, and just started tanking. This was the most awesome display of heroism I've ever seen, I wish I had a video. Azrael was taking point-blank double hits, and I could see the blood on the snow. I just kept dropping Blizzards.

Simultaneously, Madawc and Azrael fell to the ground.

To this day my greatest feeling in Diablo was in my newbie Classic days. I was playing my first character that I took past act I Nightmare. A Paladin, my fifth character overall. I had Sigon's Gloves and Belt. I had never looked at any sites or forums so I had no idea what items were in the game and how powerful they were or weren't. I saw the Green part indicating I had two out of six pieces and promised to myself I was going to complete this set. I was on Nightmare Mephisto and first drop he gave me Sigon's Armor and Helm. I was overjoyed. I then continued to run him over and over thinking it would be easy. It took me maybe two weeks to complete the set just running him. Finally the Shield dropped and I knew I had hit gold. I expected to throw on the last piece and become God. I'm thinking plus 3 skills, 500 life, etc... you get the picture. I throw it on and recieve some fire damage and whatever mods. I then turned into a B-Net speaking child OMFG WTF STUZPID NEWBS SIGONS I WANZ BE 1337 GOD. :jig: I'll never forget that moment when I completed that set.
 
1. Your zealot, who's using an extremely crappy weapon, decides to kill a single false Tomb of Tal Rasha in NM (so that he'll reach the next level before Duriel), and with practically no MF, finds a Butcher's Pupil!

2. While playing a HC character, you hear "Aaaaaaaargh!" that hits you hard on the face! It's even harder when Duriel falls to the still raining Blizzard you'd left, or if you were doing "just one single run".

3. Running to improve only a single part of your gear and finding WF and Astreon's before you can find a Bonehew, improving all the rest of your gear on the way!

4. Clicking the Alt key after the HF quest.

5. Stepping to Hell difficulty.
 
my greatest moment had to be when i found out that u can put tp scroll in ur belt and press a number to open them!!! sadly enough this was not to long ago....
 
When that /Players 1, Pit Level 1 Devilkin coughed up a stone labeled "Cham". First time I ever had a truely "legendary" [by my standards] find! That feeling that you've beaten the odds is really amazing.

Another thing that comes to me is imbuing that white circlet you just found hoping for some good combo of mods, and getting crap things, and, as the bonus, +X to light radius...... like if I need to attract more monsters to me.

In the first times of playing and not knowing all the items, finding a Russet Armor in gold letters and wondering what it is.......

In the first times of playing, gathering all the gold you can, knowing it will be important latter on......
 
seeing the word diadem in gold letters for the first time only to pick it up and its eth, same goes for shako.
then not getting another gold shako for more than a month, still looking for another gold diadem.
 
Most of my memorabal moments are bad. I remember my first HC charcter dying. (Misty Moutains - Level 46 Zon, Killed Mindlessly running into a Mages Blizzard entering the Kurast Causeway).

The first time I tried to use a hack, only to see it auto-run my charcter and drop all my Assasains gear in a pre-made game.

Any number of times I have experienced the sheer HORROR of hearing that IM curse hit as I just click the Zeal attack. Talk about 1 second seeming like ages!
 
My favourite, after all these years: Getting to Hell A1 with a bowazon solo before the bow bug had been fixed, ages ago:laugh:
 
1. Having someone explain Iron Maiden to me after my level 86 WW barb died clearing the NM Chaos Santuary. This was years ago too, when Iron Maiden was less hurty.

2. Re-swallowing my stomach after I've heard the Iron Maiden curse, even though I'm playing a damned caster and can't be harmed by it.

3. Forking out 50,000 Gold to re-hire my merc because he doens't have a damned off button when in IM areas!

4. Trying not to cry when thinking about how many times I have lived only because my merc gave his life for me. Thank you Waheed!

5. Cursing at my merc because he walked in the opposite direction just as Lister spawned, leaving me tankless!

6. Remembering how they told me my "deeds would be remembered" and thinking about how they lied. Seriously, nobody cares but me!

7. Flipping through the folder that contains all my "Deeds." screen shots.

8. Finding my first ever pair of Frostburns from Norm Diablo when rushing some random person on B.net. Boy was I excited!

9. Fighting the Ubers for my first time ever with my extreamly under-equiped smiter. I swear there was at least 5 times when I thought "well thats its, I'm dead, oh well, at least I got to see them!" But my fingers would press the Juv keys on their own... and that little Smiter (Hps_MadCaddiesMan) kept on Smiting! I got a 20/18 Pally torch for my troubles too, and I couldn't stop shaking... or smiling!

10. Helping my friends MA Assasin kill the Hell Ancients with that same Smiter later on in his life when he was very much more twinked, and adding his "Deeds" screen shot to my "Deeds" folder about 20 seconds later when one of their Fire Enchanted asses exploded all over me (and my friend).

11. Meeting some of the funnest memebers of the dii.net HC forum in op xbananax (Xey, Relativity, Gambits_hc, Trebol, Shocky, Sip... so many friends!)

12. Missing my friends from 11 because they've all quit!

13. Seeing that look of dispare in my girlfriends eyes when I told her that I stayed up all night playing Diablo 2/didn't go to work because I was playing Diablo 2/Didn't go to class because I was playing Diablo 2/Didn't eat dinner because I was playing Diablo 2/Found such and such an item when I was playing Diablo 2 and that it does this, and this, and this, and I've been looking for it for so long!/Just checked in on the xbananax channel when she was over and burst into uncontrollable laughter for ~5 minutes becaue of a conveersation between Trebol and Sip that I stumbled into.

And lastly.

14. Having some friendly folks in the SPF compliment me on my intro thread because it was well written (not gramaticly), when I decided it was rambeling but couldn't bring my self to erase any of it.

What a wonderfull thread~~! Sorry mines so long, I didn't want to miss anything, even though I'm sure I did!

My mind goes back to finding a green quilted armour way back six years ago.First ever set rare or unique item ever.:rolleyes:
