Tips to Make the Strongest Overall/General Sorceress

The problem is by going CB/ES, you are losing out lightning. By going lightning, you are not losing out CB. As there are cases where CB is more useful, and cases where lightning is, and even cases where CL is, going pure lightning is a superior route, damage wise.
 
All of a sudden, the Infinity Sorceress build may be possible. A person just posted an Infinity Ethereal Superior Great Poleaxe and is willing to trade it for 4 IST runes (in this thread) and I can trade enough items to get four IST runes together. Would this be a good weapon for my Infinity Sorceress' mercenary to wield?

A lone element sorc can tele away O_o? But yea infinity/cb/es, read my darn post. Lightning at max shoots at 12 fps, which is unbearably slow for me. Cb can actually hit 8fps and is super easy to aim, and since it requires only 3 skills to max for dmg, you can max ES/tk.

My problem is that i've always found pvm to get too monotonous after awhile, so I value speed over the versatility of killing everything. I build most of my chars towards pvp specs and so I aim for high life, survivability, speed. A infinity sorc will defeat a dual element sorc in all of those categories.

And i'm not ragging on mf'ers, but with the advent of duping. It has become less valuable to find stuff on your own. I'm just saying that for me, the FASTEST way to accumulate wealth is to trade intelligently.

I think it´s ok that you rather trade than mf, it´s ok that you like pvp more than pvm and it´s ok that 12 fps is slow for you....

Thanks for pointing that out. Did see a few people say that I should have an Infinity mercenary, so I was a bit confused about that. However, I just finished reading To carry infinity or not, that is the question and I'll be letting my Sorceress carry the Infinity weapon.

Would following the equipment setup of this thread about the Infinity Nova Sorceress be a good idea? I still cannot afford about 75% of the equipment at this point, unfortunately.

For a build that can truly use low-mid end items and still be decent, try the meteorb. All u need is about +5-8 skills, 105fcr, and a decent merc. The tal set is great if u wanna build an effective dual-tree sorc without spending an arm or a leg. I used to have a full tals meteorb, it was strong and all, but I find that having two delay skills doesnt work for me, and I hated the fact that meteor only covers ~4 yards of area. Recently I built a CL/FO with my full tals set, and I'm enjoying it very much as of now because its a very strong and versatile build. U have lightning for straight lines of cluttered monsters, CL for scattered ones, and U have a strong FO to kill lightning immunes. I can further twink my sorc by giving merc an infinity and socketing 3 5/5 lite facets in my equip, which will give me a tremendous boost in killing power. If u want something that walks through acts like cake, pure lite sorc w/ infinity is ur best bet, although not the cheapest. If u want something that can walk through hell with relative ease and is cost effective, CL/FO is the way to go. With full tals, torch, anni, spirit, and 5x lite GCs, I'm sittin at ~16k lightning, which is good nuff for me. It definately doesnt kill as fast as those 50k ones, but it gets the job done and is probably ALOT cheaper.

You might want to take a look at the stat requirements on that stick before you decide to wield it yourself.



 
I have a Meteorb for this ladder season and she is devistating. Thanks to Smackin above, I was able to get my ful tals set completed last night. He mentions that two timered spells just wasn't for him and thats understandable, but for me I use fireball most of the time while throwing out orbs. I use meteor when I am moat tricking meph because he usually owns my merc leaving me without my insight and lvl 30 Firebaal will blow through any mana pool.

I think you can see from all the above posts that there are many different effective builds for a soso. It comes down to personal preference. I say make the cheapest build and mf with her to find/trade the items for the next most expensive build and make another soso and so on. As soon as I feel that my meteorb is done, I'll probably make a CL/FO like Smackin's.
 
My new Sorceress is now approaching level 60 and things are looking good. I have decided to build a Frozen Orb/Chain Lightning Sorceress, as per several players' suggestions, namely Smackin.

For my gear, I will be using the full Tal Rasha's Wrappings set, with War Travelers and Chance Guards (may change gloves; suggestions?). Was thinking about a Spirit shield, but that would mean I won't be putting in any dexterity points and will not be blocking with this Sorceress; will this hurt her survivability? I am still unsure about what rings to use. Tal Rasha's set only provides 40%FCR, and if I go with a Spirit shield, I can potentially have 75%. Any suggestions to get 105%FCR?

I love spirit and recommend it for most sorcs, so I'd use that. As for the other 30 fcr, your only choices are gloves and rings, and you can't get 30fcr from just rings, so um, magefist/trangs and a 10fcr ring:)

Darn, was trying to hold off the rings for resistances. With this setup, I am not sure how great my resistances will be, and am thinking this will be a big problem.
 
Should have max light, 70 cold and 35ish fire/poison. If you have imba bnet charms max all should be np, even if you don't, light is only really important one and that's maxed. Just add a few junky scs if the fire/pois bothers you.
 
Tal's set has 50% fcr, not 40%: 3x10% as set bonuses and 20% on the orb.
A perfect fcr Spirit (or less than perfect and a ring) and gloves will get you to 105%.

For lightning and chain lightning the 105% bp does nothing though, so you might
want to aim for either 78% (13 frame cl, 9 frame tele) or 117% (12/8).
For 78% you only requires a 28+ spirit, for 117% you will need gloves, two rings
and a 27+ spirit.


The set has a lot of resists built in: 65% res all, another 40% F/C/L on the armor
and 33% L on the ammy. With 30% C from TO gloves and two quest rewards
(pre-A5hell) you should already be at 25/55/58/-15 (F/C/L/P). If you use fcr rings,
those could have some res as well, and covering remaining gaps with charms should
not be too difficult.
 
best overal soso is definitly Fire/orb for player

u spend only 20 points on Frozen orb and one point on Cold Mastery. +skills boost that up, and later when u get infinity, more points would be totaly useless...
teleport,telekinesis,static field...
rest go in fire skills, u miss only like 12 points from pure Fire at lvl90, at lvl 99 u miss 4 or 3 points from pure firemaster depends if u take frozen armor or not...

I got this soso at lvl 87 now i started season with her
She got full talrasha, with stormshield mages and wartravelers, one nice FCR ring and 30% mf nagel or nature peace (i go every run nihltak)
She is full block so she can whitstand lot of dmg!!
no cta no infinity yet, thou i doubt i would use cta on her... she need mf stuff on switch...

Never had light soso but Fire/orb soso can go everywhere from begining...
Light soso is very agresive on equip, and infinity is must...
And I like to have my MF as high as i can, with still fast killing speed...

I had soso like this last ladder and I evean used her for mini ubers and Diablo clon... all i needed was marrowalks... she had around 700+ MF when i switch weapons...

with infy she can clear CS and WC at player 8 nicely, but its slow compared to hammer (well in CS most of monsters are fireimune and its amazing that at player 8 u can kill em with few frozen orb when u invest 21 points only ^^), she is player 1 killer.

btw i dont like when people call this mete/orb build ^^
i use meteor only on nihla/baal/mephisto...
rest of game is pure pure fireball output...
 
i use that melee sorc guide up there.. not the cheapest but its really fun and you can solo everything as long as your merc doesnt die xD

That's my biggest problem with it at the moment. Like you stated in a different thread, blocking is very important to a Sorceress' survivability, and I certainly agree with that.

No, you can´t, Tal is slow... but show me a reasonable gear which has all these properities: firepower, resists, defense, full block/dr, mf, 105+fcr and ... may be... 2k ph damage in orb with +10k AR and 100% CB... and... immunity to lag :scratch:
