'Three Way Dance II' - H.C 1.10 Tournament

I will seriously consider starting a new tournament whilst this one concludes. I know I am still working on both characters, and yes, this will most likely be a 1.11 tournament, not a 1.10. I'm not too sure if I'll keep the same format with restrictions or even switching from Hardcore - do you people think it has gotten stale at all, or is reasonably good in regards to interest and limitations?

This is great news.

On the rules: I like the rules as they are. The only thing that should be added IMHO is a stash of items that can be used to mule stuff from the chars and back on again. I think about saving runes, gems, charms and other stuff for later cubing.
This new tourney should be 1.11 as this patch is more friendly to melee chars. And the last tourney didn't have a lot of melee chars in the Winners Cricle.

Just my 2ct.

Thanks for the congratulations guys.

I like the format of the tourney. The runewords made a welcome addition in this tourney, balancing out with the dissappearance of unlimited crafting.
I am not a supporter of a returnable items stash. I think the limited stash influences my chars quite a bit. No hording of 12 different combinations of resistance boots, etc. The same with runes and gems. I am sometimes stuck in upgrading runes becasue i lack the correct gem. I think that is a added difficulty, but a good one. Similar, no saving up of qlvl 51 grand charms for higher chances of skillers.

Anyway, as long as there is fun to be had all is good!

Hi everyone,

Back to business: playing some DII. I have made some progress with persephone. She found the horadric headpiece, combining the pieces and getting rid of the strange darkness for an extra point. After that i did my usual run through the cellars, to the arcane sanctuary. I couldn't resist exploring ta least one arm, which by a stroke of pure luck had the summoner, who was easily killed. After that it was just a quick step into the valley to get the waypoint. Not a bad run, although little goodies.

Team the Matrix II (Gouda) – 225 points
Conqueror Morpheus - (Barb – Warcries/Com.Skills) – lvl 76 – Act II Hell - looking for horadric bits.
Conqueror Merovingian - (Necro - Summon/Curse) – lvl 79 – Act III Hell - Finding statues.
Conqueror Persephone - (Sorc Fire/Cold) – lvl 83 - Act II Hell - looking for Duriel.

Hi everyone,

Just a quick update, and then off to home!
Played last weekend, finishing act II with persephone. Duriel was annoying, hitting my merc very hard. he dropped quickly though, after i gave my merc his 4th full rejuv, so not too bad I guess.

After that it was back to Morpheus crawling through act II. He found the horadric staff and located the viper temple. HAven't explored in there though, so no extra points for him. He did gain a level, and an extra point in berserk.

I'll update the score tomorrow, gotta run,

Good thing that i went home quickly last night, as i found a tiny bit of time to play some DII. When speed is essential I offcourse start up my Sorceress, Persephone.

She is now exploring act III, and quickly found the statue for an extra point in the scoring, and the first piece of Khalim. No waypoints, nor any clue where the flayer jungle may be, so a long way to go still.

The score looks a lot different, but I recalculated everyones score, and this should be right.

Team the Matrix II (Gouda) – 232 points
Conqueror Morpheus - (Barb – Warcries/Com.Skills) – lvl 77 – Act II Hell - Looking for horadric bits.
Conqueror Merovingian - (Necro - Summon/Curse) – lvl 80 – Act III Hell - Lounging in lower Kurast.
Conqueror Persephone - (Sorc Fire/Cold) – lvl 83 - Act III Hell - Looking for the flayer jungle.

Have fun, don't die,

edit: I guess I feel inspired/ashamed into finishing this tournament by the start of TWD III. I actually enjoy playing, so it's a good thing!

Hmmm,

so much for finishing quickly.

I did make a bit of progress last weekend (sunday night), when Persephone finished act III.
The levels leading to Baal were an absolute nightmare, full of exploding dolls and heavy hitting maulers. I ended up quitting before i even found the waypoint, and restarting at the council rather then having another NDE. I guess my high block strategy kept me alive a few times, allthough i was getting hit plenty.
After a restart i got the more sedate zombies and oversized mosquito's, and cruised through the levels. Mephisto forced me to feed 2 purples to the merc, and dropped nothing of worth. All in all a rather dissappionting end to an exciting run.
Persephone has excellent killing power, but limited defense/survivability. She now has 65% block, and ~850 life, so that is pretty decent for an untwinked (more or less) sorc. A lvl 26 frozen orb with lvl 18 mastery takes care of a lot of monsters, with a lvl 20 meteor back up. The meteor is supported by 14 lvls of mastery and 14 lvls synergy. I have a + 3 fire skills wand as a backup for areas with a lot of CIs but my lower resist wand takes care of it for now.

Anyway, after Persephone was finished I played the Merovingian a bit. He found Lam esen tome, and went through a square mile of sewers to find the next horadric bodypart.

After that it was time to go to bed, and hope for another chance to play in the next week.
