The Certain Death Tournament.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

Ugghhh.

Diablo finished off my last character, Mouse the Golemancer.

Svelte_Savage fell to Baal. RIP. She had cleared all of normal except the very last obstacle. He summoned his clone. I went to town and waited a bit. Came back and the clone was still there. They were apart from each other, so I threw an occasional decoy over towards the real Baal, and we took out the clone. Now for the real one. We had barely nicked him, when I went down. I think I took a couple shots in a row. I should have stayed back and let the merc try to handle with the decoy grabbing his attention, just feed him pots, but I guess that wasn't her way. She liked jumping in the fray.

Played most of Act 5 at players 3, but would knock it down to players 1 for the Ancients, Baal, and his minion waves. I am very impressed with those that play at a higher player setting, and live.

She was a hair from hitting level 42.

I will most likely join again, but need to figure out the build.

RIP Svelte_Savage.

IME, at least in normal, overall playing at a higher players setting is safer than playing on a lower players setting as you are a higher level with better skills / more life / less likely to get hit. If you were p7/p8 all the way, you should be lvl 48/49 when fighting Baal which does make a significant difference.

Hard luck there. You'll find the top of the ladder dominated by casters and ranged attackers but you did very well with a melee build to get that far as two consecutive critical hits will finish off most characters. I think incorporating some abilities like weaken found on wands into the build might help.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

@kavarin Yes, you are right. I did play a good part of Act 1 and maybe some of 2 at players 7, then got worried and pushed it down to 5, then 3. A few levels higher does seem to make a difference. I still think my driving can improve though. :)

@ Tarantella Thanks for the advice. Coming from the top, it has to be good. Where do you use Weaken? Baal, and where else? When do you use that, when do you use Life Tap? Was using an Act 2 merc.

I am back with my 3rd entry. Going to try out a singer, since we are short on barbs. Hopefully, he will make a good run.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

@ Mournblade, damn RIP for Svelte the Savage, id recommend playing on /p8 though, you get more exp and drops,
sure it starts of sluggish but its more of an advantage then an disadvantage over time.

Well, zap has succeeded in avenging Wallerina :alright: (and more).

Act 3 was cleared fast with the newly learned frost orb. There were no interesting finds and Mephisto was quickly disposed off, as was his loot (yes, it looks fancy but nothing usable exept for the tir).

The combination of fireball and frostorb absolutely murdered everything in act 4 (exept for izual who was static field spammed without mercy).
Mr. hellforge coughed up this pretty decent drop, that green ring there to the right is Zapsarraps fourth Cathans seal.(the things are everywhere ....AAAAH!)
Diablo himself was approached with great care (teleporting right next to him and starting a static field spam as he spawned "cough") the rest of his hp were taken with frost orb, while dancing around him and teleporting out of every projectile he hurled at ZAP.
It did not take long till the horny red bugger was all out of health, and instead of playing his fancy death animation he just despawned, having his revenge by leaving behind this heap of trash.
At least now Wallerina can rest in peace, knowing that her killer would have dropped bad loot anyway.

Though act 2,3 and 4 were rather dissapointing dropwise, act 5 felt like act 1 all over again.

After dispatching of shenk and his minions, i decided it was time for a major circlet/belt gambling spree.
I muled my saved circlets off atma and sold them, giving me a nice amount of gold to spend on better equipment.
A lot of circlets later, a very nice one was gambled.
I kept larzuk to his promise and stuffed a ptopaz in the circlet, then i revisited nilathak for some belt gambling (having about 30000gold left), the second try yielded this beauty.

The following quests were rather uneventful, a lot of rather useless greens dropped, and progress was fast with frost orb shredding everything to bits in seconds.
During all that there were two noteworty drops: this nice orb and a DOL-rune (wich i apparently forgot to screen).

After saving anya and selling her useless reward right back to her, it was time to go smoke out nilathak.
The trip was very rewarding with this sweet drop.
Sheal was exactly what i was looking for to make a rhyme shield, now all i needed was a decent shield to socket it in.
A candidate was found not much later after naming my bloodfist after me (zapsarraps bloodfist, its such an amazing questreward no?)
Though it is an awesome shield, i could not yet equip it because of the resist penalty (it put my fire and lightning resist at 53) but before i spent more attention to that i first defeated the ancients and cleared the WSK up to the throne of destruction.
Now i spent some time switching around some gear and gambling some more, resulting in a nice amulet with magic find and resist all
that worked very nice with scroll from malah + the ryme shield resulting in the perfect resistances to face baal.

After a motivational speech for pratham (i tell you, that guy has got to die, have you heard his annoying laugh?!), and an in-depth strategy discussion (if i toss a potion, make sure you catch it!),
it was time to go face to lord of destruction and his gang.
Both were actually quite the joke.. more frost orb/fireball spammage put an quick end to baals minions, and static field took care of the guy himself.
His drop included some chance guards, which were very welcome, since the cow level is all about collecting gamble gold.
In the cow level itself, not even one unique/set dropped, but all items were sold resulting in a heap of gold to gamble for at the start of nightmare difficulcy.

These are Zapsarraps stats after killing baal, she also had exactly 170% magic find (200% in the cow level because i used chance guards there, all of normal was cleared in /p8).

-Zapsarraps + skills from items: +2 fire(circlet) +1all(orb) +1 fireball(orb)

-Zapsarraps talent points: (+skills from items not counted)

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

I'm retiring Cody from this tournament for several reasons:

1. I grew awfully bored of her kill speed.
2. Since I'd just reinstalled Diablo, she was softcore and I felt cheap (even though I know it wasn't technically).
3. I also grew bored of my character in the randomly challenged tournament, so the name Bill opened back up in my stable.

The solution? Another build that it makes no sense to play in this tournament. Welcome Bill, the Mind Blast/Death Sentry/Thorns assassin. I'm thinking of calling this build "Fred Phelps," a play on the build this is modeled after, the Corrupted Televangelist (one of my favorite easy Necro builds). On that build, you used Edge to grant your Revives Thorns and Amped everything like a traditional Fishy, then used the insane mana regen from Insight to chain Corpse Explosion like there was no tomorrow. I'll either end up installing the RWM to make an attempt at those rune words, or simply pump a lot of points into energy like Sorcs have been in this tourney and operate more like that. If I decide not to mess with RWM, I'll simply hire a Thorns merc and hope for the best. Mind Blast's conversion will stand in as my hirelings and I'll be using weapon block in lieu of a shield in hopes of more points in traps from the staffmods on my endgame claws.

A long intro, I'm aware, but them's the breaks. I found an experience shrine right away and I'm about level 8 bumming around the Cold Plains.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

While casually playing through the tower on p8 and thinking about her late twenties and beyond I managed to get myself squeezed between a champion pack of goatmen and a brick wall. I could possibly have taken myself out of it, but by that time I was so depressed by the prospect of relying on luck to be able to do any damage before mid nightmare. p8 and strafing for about 100dmg didnt seem like a lot of fun, so my effort wasnt very inspired and Toxarys bit the dust.

I thought it through a bit and my love for caster necros gave me the idea of finally getting a poisonmancer through hell.

Thus here is the newest attempt: Zmeli_Khat the poisonmancer (yes it is a tribute to the song performed by a certain character in "friends")

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

Hmmmmm this sucks!

One minute i had high hopes for Blake as he and his new companion, Ilzan the Prayer merc, were just dominating the deserts of Act 2. Nothing could really pose a serious threat for Blake, or stand long enough to be of any threat! I was actually thinking this could be possible!

Then i entered the first false tomb, where it started off nice and easy. We took the first left into the side room which usually holds the boss pack, along with the sparky chest. In their we were met by what seemed like 6 or so Unraveller’s with their skeleton minions and a Boss pack of Marauders. The skeletons plugged the opening door. I let Ilzan tank while i stood behind, trying to clear a path through. Eventually we made it through the door and as Blake took his first step in, a Unraveller, who was positioned right beside the door on the right, super poisoned me. I panicked and ran to the corner wall, as i did the other Unraveller’s unleashed their holy bolts on me, while the super poison was still draining my life!. It was the first time Blake had been super poisoned and I was shocked at the speed my life bulb dropped ! As you can establish....it was deeds in an flash :(!.

So it seems that I have notched up yet another deeds in this tournament :(! Meaning I have laid to rest 4 characters so far, with the furthest only reaching Act 2 NM! My graveyard now consists of 2 Druids, 1 Sorc and now a Barbarian. So where does this leave me?

I am still yet to attempt an Amazon, Assassin, Necro and Paladin. Hmmmm, guess it’s back to the drawing board AGAIN! I can't leave this tournament without avenging my most successful character in Drake! That is my goal!!

I guess i am going to steer clear of Melee as well, it seems like an impossible task for this tournament!

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

This evening I was draining some beer from my bladder when I noticed there is some paint falling off the ceiling in my bathroom. It was not like that the day before. Naturally I told my friend via MSN, the conversation went like this:

ME: I just noticed that the paint is falling off the ceiling in my bathroom in one place over the toilet.
Friend: odd
ME: I just took a **** an hour or so ago.
Friend: that is a massive ****
ME: Do you think it smelled so bad it made the paint started falling off?
Friend: yes
Me: that's an achievement!
Friend: woo
Me: I am a god!
Friend: that's the right answer ray.
(No, my name is not Ray, he was making a Ghostbuster joke).

That's right! I am now a frigging god!! Who else can say they made paint peel?...

What?... Oh, the Diablo 2 tournament! Yeah, you can read on about my achievements with the Ancients, Baal's minions, and Baal himself if you want... I'll be honest though, they are pretty anti-climactic after the above achievement!

Act 5 norm was pretty tame. I enjoy the underground areas of Act 5, but I am not really a big fan of the above ground areas. However, I did fully clear the entire act.

Mala's resistance scroll was left unread, and placed in my stash. Reading it in norm would mean stripping/swapping gear to meet the resistance requirements. Ultimately I am too lazy to do that when what I am currently wearing is working just fine. Found this helm, which I cannot wear right now, but could be useful in the future.

I also found these 2 Evil Urns right next to each other. The trouble is, I found the one on the upper left and thought "oh I'll just make sure there are no monsters around before I open that". So I charged down and to the right, and just caught sight of the other one hiding behind the wall and thought "oh a chest!" As I clicked it - and an angry, angry pack of Blood Lords appeared - my heart entered my mouth (I hadn't even laid any traps to prepare). But a healthy application of Mind Blast saved the day. I love Evil Urns, I love opening them! But generally I like to be a bit more prepared.

I accidentally fought the Ancients on /players 5. I had intended to turn it down to /players 1, but realized after they were dead that I had not. The battle itself wasn't that bad. I dropped a few health and mana pots, just incase, drank (and fed to my merc) about 2.5 minutes worth of Thawing and Antidote potions. After spawning them I ran away (my usual brave tactic). The thrower got lost somewhere so Haseen easily tanked the other 2 while my traps did their stuff.

In the World Stone Keep level 1, I got this great map. But decided to fully clear the area anyway. Things were running smoothly, so why not, right?

Action shot.

I tried my best to hide behind posts during the fight with Baal. That worked OK, even after he spawned his twin, I was able to stay fairly safe. Haseen needed a few pots, but nothing serious. Baal dropped mostly junk, as usual. (Note: That Iceblink is eth... it may or may not be useful. And to be honest I haven't ID'd the shield or the armour yet.)

Not quite a God... but a Destroyer none the less.

I fully expect another solid week of working 830am - 1130pm (and I could easily go in on Christmas day too if I wanted)... So not sure when I'm going to get through Act 1 NM.

Edit: I forgot about the cows. So I went ahead and slaughtered some beef before hitting the hay. Found a +10 Life SC that replaces my +9 SC, woot!

Mephisto is dead. That was easy.

So what do I remember about Act 3? Not a whole lot except for one NDE with mana burn dolls (yikes). A Viscertuant dropped somewhere in the act which may or may not be useful until I can find a suitable Monarch for Spirit. I'm still on the lookout for a 4-socket sword and I finally found the missing pieces for the Spirit so now I have a dilemma. I think I'll hold off as I'd like to save my socket quests for something interesting and so far, I'm doing OK without the Spirit. I did however find a Sol and made an Insight in an ethereal Superior Halberd. I had to take off Chalan's MF armor so that he wouldn't have too much MF with the Insight :)

Insight
Halberd
RalTirTalSol
Two Hand Damage: 69 - 225
Durability: 28 of 28
Required Level: 27
Required Strength: 65
Required Dexterity: 37
Fingerprint: 0x4d8b58a3
Item Level: 37
Version: Expansion 1.10+
Level 12 Meditation Aura When Equipped
+35% Faster Cast Rate
236% Enhanced Damage
+9 to Minimum Damage
209% Bonus to Attack Rating
Adds 5 - 30 Fire Damage
Adds 75 Poison Damage Over 5 Secs (125 Frames)
+6 to Critical Strike
All Stats +5
+2 to Mana after each Kill
23% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items Ethereal
4 Sockets (4 used)
Socketed: Ral Rune
Socketed: Tir Rune
Socketed: Tal Rune
Socketed: Sol Rune

The damage is good and the health/mana regeneration are very nice. So now it's off to Hell (in a Nightmare sort of way).

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

............Where do you use Weaken? Baal, and where else? When do you use that, when do you use Life Tap? Was using an Act 2 merc.

I am back with my 3rd entry. Going to try out a singer, since we are short on barbs. Hopefully, he will make a good run.

Freddie Mercury the Singer, Level 1, Rogue's Camp

According to Arreat, http://classic.battle.net/diablo2exp/items/magic/chargedsuffixes.shtml, weaken is available on wands quite early and worth using on Diablo and extra strong bosspacks if you have no other. Lifetap would be useful generally but it does require landing hits which with Baal at level 60 means a mercenary will still struggle in any lengthy fight and a modicum of physical damage which mercs have but spearies might not.

Reducing the length of the fight might mean lower resist is a good option for a lightning spearie but this tourney really disadvantages a melee fighter with no block so as long as you have pots and nimble fingers I would use weaken on Baal in normal purely to reduce the chance of near instant death from receiving a double critical.

Also worth looking at on a wand weapon swap is a shield with terror charges which is great for breaking up boss packs.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

@Morathi: The super poison does suck. RIP Blake.

@HP Sauce: LMAO, does your namesake have anything to do with your **** peeling paint? Mexican Chilli :)

@Tarantella: I will keep an eye out for the wands. Thanks.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not much to note yet on Freddie. He is cruising through just fine on players 8. Cleared everything through Dark Wood, including saving the old man.

5 points in sword mastery, will leave here
5 points in howl, will max
1 taunt, find potion, find item, shout, and bash

Mainly pumping dexterity, with some points going to strength.

Best find was a GC 14% lightning resist.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

@ morathi: damn yet another barb that dies young in this tournament, may he RIP.

Just a small update but zapsarrap has cleared act 1 and radaments lair, has crafted a spirit sword and found a naglering(29%) and a manald heal wich i will save for later.
She also found quite some (useless)set items and another unique (spire of lazarus), and stashed her circlet for a 3x Ptopaz one (now having around 230% mf).
She also said goodbye to pratham and hired a holy freeze merc.

Zapsarrap, lvl 53 frozen orb/fireball sorceress, the dry hills NM.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

In Act 4 Norm I found 2 Amn runes. In Act 5 Norm I found a Sol rune. In Act 1 NM I promptly found a 4os Crystal Sword, which immediately turned into a sexy, sexy 'Spirit'. AlreadyDead now has enough mana to lay about 15 traps before drinking a pot! Not to mention another 70 some-odd life!

Next I found this sexy amulet, and was really happy for a brief moment... until I remembered it had too much life, and I could not wear it! Drat!

After that came the 4os Halberd. I have been waffling over the idea of making an 'Insight' for this character. Not just for the mana regen, but for the high damage and MF as well (plus, I found the Sol rune already!) However, I was really hoping to build it in something with a bit more damage. I am not very patient... but somehow managed to convince myself to stash the Halberd and wait for a better 4os pole (though my merc is in desperate need of a weapon upgrade). Sadly, the next 4os pole was not an improvement, so still waiting.

Also found in Act 1 NM tonight was my first +life grand charm. The extra mana is just gravy (that's enough to cast another 1.5 traps before potting). Sadly, not long after finding that GC, I found this one, and I had to give up the extra mana in favor of the 14 extra health!

Treehead Woodfist rolled Fanatic and angry. One of his buddies charged my as soon as I exited the Underground Passage, but at the last second he retreated off screen again, I moved away and cleared the rest of the area first, so there was room to maneuver. After returning, we painted the town red with old Treehead and his buddies.

The battle with the Countess was bravely fought from the other side of a wall... It went perfectly, I never even saw her or any of her crew. Sadly, she only dropped a Ral rune. I was really hoping she would drop a Shael (for 'Rhyme'), but not this time.

Oh, and I shopped a switch weapon this afternoon too!

I was pushing pretty hard, hoping to get through all of Act 1 NM today, but only made it as far as the Outer Cloister WP. Will have to do the rest later, as I'm pretty much video gamed out for this weekend.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

Guess what....!

I AM BACK :)! (surprise, surprise!)

This time i will be entering with an Assassin. I haven't played a Sin for awhile and got a sudden urge to enter with one when i devised a fairly cool build that just might work for this tourney. So allow me to introduce to you, Jane the Kicker/Trapper Hybrid.

I am hoping, with Jane, to build a high level Dragon Talon (goal is 5 kicks), have LOTS of Strength, feature high amounts of Crushing Blow (Upped Gore Riders is my dream boots), Life/mana Leech and Open Wounds, high level Venom for poison damage and a decent level Death Sentry/Lighting Sentry for mainly the lighting damage and of course, Corpse Explosion. Coupled with a Holy Freeze Merc, Jane could be a force to be reckoned with!

If I can find Gore Rider's, assemble both a "Crescent Moon" Phase Blade and a "LionHeart" armor, i will be laughing! Those 3 items are 1,2 and 3 on my wish list with Jane! Hopefully my wishes can come true :\.

I will get started right away! I am very excited to see how she fairs.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

jian, it's rather interesting comparing your progress to mine since we have similar characters, but are using different mercs. Coldworm wasn't a problem for my Act II merc at all, but Andariel tore him to pieces. Later on in the game, I might try gambling a bow and switch between the two for different situations. With your Rogue merc, couldn't you have just spammed Bone Prisons everywhere and let her take it all down? My Fangy was also Might enhanced, but he and his crowd never took down my prisons before I was ready. Actually, come to think of it...Maybe I should switch to a Rogue merc. She can take out anything in the game while I spam Bone Prison! Right? Hrm........

Mournblade, RIP and welcome back. Nice job getting so far with an absurdly underpowered build.

Lostprophet, that is quite possible the weirdest build I have ever heard! Haha, awesome. :D

Docturnal, welcome to the tournament and RIP for your first character. Do you have her final stats (level/location) so I can put her on the table? Thanks for rejoining, too.

Moosa, argh, slow down! Haha, just kidding. :) It looks like you will pass me in no time, though. Nice chancies/rhyme, by the way. What percentage are the Chancies?

Hp, nice progress and good luck with that 4s polearm. Partizans can drop any time now.

Morathi, RIP and welcome back. Super poison is a pretty fascinating addition to DII (I think patch 1.10 introduced it). Almost makes poison resistance desirable. For melee characters, it probably is. Your death has made me decide to gear up more conservatively for the tombs in Nightmare.

There are so many cool builds for Assassins. I've never played a kicker, myself....good luck with yours!

Ridiculously tiny update for Shadow Salad. He has cleared his way with ease to the Canyon of the Magi. In the Arcane Sanctuary, he shuffled out much of his resistances and went into super-magic find mode with the Razorswitch and cursed everything while Ilzan killed every monster. With the 50 Fire resistance and (more importantly) the 15 magic damage reduction of the staff, he took zero damage from the Summoner's Firewall.

A +15 resist all Grand Charm dropped in the Sanctuary, which reminds me that I've forgotten to mention my excellent charm luck. The life charms are pretty mediocre, but I have also found:
Iron Grand Charm of Balance
Grand Charm
Required Level: 18
Fingerprint: 0x865a43d9
Item Level: 37
Version: Expansion 1.10+
Properties:
+58 to Attack Rating
12% Faster Hit Recovery

Coral Large Charm of Balance
Large Charm
Required Level: 18
Fingerprint: 0x94d0cc4f
Item Level: 35
Version: Expansion 1.10+
Properties:
Lightning Resist +12%
8% Faster Hit Recovery

Aren't those two endgame gear? Amazing luck, there. I think that Grand Charm dropped during the ultra-lucrative early Act I spree, too. Don't remember where I got the Large Charm from, although someone might be able to tell by looking at the ilvl.

S_S is nervous about the tombs, and will be suiting up appropriately. More on that in the next update.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

Oh... Toxarys final stast was: lvl 15 and last WP was black march.

If you want to add Zmeli_Khat as well he is currently lvl 25 and in arcane sanctuary. (will make a proper update upon finishing normal, which I will probably do tonight barring a rip)

EDIT: note to self, if your merc hits faster than you recover, dont stand near a LI boss. Deeds is annoying with a character that didnt even get to use his signature skill.

Rip Zmeli_Khat lvl 26 necro (died to LI vampire boss in the false tombs)

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

So I Finally got to play RAWR a bit more, after being busy with lots of things, my Barb is now sitting at the Inner Cloister WP just over level 19. not much luck with charms as of yet, but got some okay rare throwing javs/axes from Gheed. Sadly, none of them as replenish as a Mod :S. I wasn't expecting him to be that good, but he really rips through mobs and can take a few hits without being near death. So far I'm pleased with my character selection.

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

@wakiki: Spamming Bone Prison in tight areas can be dangerous, as they will hinder my movement as well (see below).

@Morathi: Ouch! Tough break.
I have to ask: why did you not move back out of the room when you got super-poisoned?

Anyway, good luck with the Assassin!

----------------------------------------------------

Morte is lucky to be alive today. He´s been through two scary episodes.

Scary Episode 1 began with me activating the wrong skill. Key 's' is Bone Prison, the skill I meant to use (Decrepify) is key 'd'. "Alright, no sweat, Decrep them and I can tank these ghosts.", I thought. But Bone Wall/Prison work in a pecualiar way - they increase the 'awareness range' of monsters substantially. It´s more than doubled, maybe even something like tripled.

So another pack of ghosts came in. That didn´t worry me too much either. But then a pack of goatmen came in from behind. They must have come from the (as of yet unexplored) central passage of this quadrant. They destoyed the prison quicker than I expected (or maybe it just timed out, I don´t know). Anyway, there I was, caught between a rock and a hard place, and I got a feeling for just how frail this character is when his Bone Armor gets torn down. Now, he had to suffer hit recovery most times he got hit. Blocking speed is not good either.

Between some frantic potion drinking, Morte started to spam Terror all around. After some castings, he got both the ghosts and the goatmen to back off. That gave him enough time to conjure up a TP and escape. 5 out of 8 full rejuves got used. Phew!

Scary Episode 2 was even more dangerous. Morte got caught in a CE death nova when an early beetle boss in a false tomb didn´t die as soon as I thought it would, and then it was faster and didn´t move as I had expected. All in all, a pretty sloppy performace by me. Even with the confined space at hand, I think I should have been able to avoid it. Now I got hit by it, sporting 19% cold resistance and around 260 life. There can´t have been more than 30 life left after the explosion, most likely even less! I must avoid those novas from now on...

Other than those two episodes, things are going pretty well for my duo. But progress is so slow now that it´s a bit draining, mentally. I need a break from this character now. My next update will just be about current gear and skill points distibution.

Here is how I handled one of only two (lucky there weren´t any more) mummy caskets in the seven tombs. Got off to a bad start as when I made my first assault, there was a beetle pack in the corner and I had to retreat. That move allowed 2 mummies to spawn even before I could make a real attempt to block the sarcophagus. On my next attempt, I had to Terror away three mummies in order to clear the spot I am standing in. First mummy got shot down by Iantha while I tanked it (I drank antidote while tanking it, too), the other two got Bone Spirited.
Since I currently have no poison damage charm, I switched over to my javelin setup and stabbed the sarcophagus so the poison damage on a shrunked head got applied.

Green-text War Scepter dropped. I recognized that as Milabrega´s.
(Butt-Head sidenote: "Huh, huh, he said...rod.")
Hmm, isn´t there some nice +life bonus on the shield with another item? Oh yes! This is clearly worth hanging onto for a while now. Since I´ll lose the resists from Blood Crescent, I muled in two charms to make up for most of that.

True tomb was a true marathon, with Unravelers, Preserved Deads and beetles. An unbelievable number of monsters in some of the rooms! It took me almost 3.5 hours to slog through it...

Duriel couldn´t tear down my Bone Prisons faster than I could summon them. If I was within about half a screen from him, he didn´t even try...

Re: The Certain Death Tournament.

Impressive progress all over the board  Makes me want to jump back in right away ... so I guess I'll just do that.
After playing another patch for a while, I feel well prepared.
What? No, not 1.13! 1.06b of course. It always bugged me a little that I never beat Classic untwinked and without any (self)mp.
So I started up a Sorc (tweaker as it turned out) and made her Baroness. Hell with negative resists and ~230hp was fun (beat Diablo Hell at level 41). Spamming FO at 7fpa rocks. Well, she also died a lot, so maybe it was not very good practice for HC...
This time I'm going for a Windy. I like cheese. Hopefully I won't stuff him before getting the main attack spell (like the Blizzsorc).
