The 1pt smiter guide to Uber Tristram v 1.0.

Well overstacked res=less damage taken from mephi. Less damage taken+sufficient leach=constant smiting on spot. Smiting=mephi takes damage and eventually dies.

You know, I think you're exagerating.... There is no way that with -100 resist all you could have possibly survived a lightning enhanced monster, much less a lightning enhanced mephisto spawning an endless supply of mages.

Ok, first i'd like to say thanks to Kingdryland - with this build i have pretty much done at least 20-30 tristram runs without much trouble. A very good guide, and very well thought off. A few things i'd like to share though

I am using Azurewrath - sounds weird but the sanctuary aura is actually pretty useful around meph simply because his minions cant touch you - u have ample of breathing space and smiting space beause they do not crowd u.

Secondly, having some lvls of absorb really make tristram much easier - try to have some absorbs in Light, cold n fire.

Thirdly, if you do use this smiter to do bodyparts, there may be 2 areas u'd have problems with - Furnace of Pain and Matron's den - because of the Oblivion knights and the witches. For the most part, the body organ demons themselves fall relatively easily to the smiter.

Fourthly, i am now leaning towards getting exile. Draculs just doesnt seem to cut it - considering that i;ve had a few runs where i was simply chucking down mutiple potions coz that 5% just DIDNT activate. Many times, i was killing meph and company with zeal rather than smite - only time i smited was like when his health was at 1/5 -1/6. Pretty funny actually.

xXFyMXx :
Primary reasons why you die at mephisto
1. Meph phy Hits are painful
2. Laaaaaag
3. Even if ur salvation is ON, check if meph's convition still lowers ur resis to below max. Meph's conviction reduces ur resis by alot - so u actually may not still have enough resis to fight it out.

Secondly, having some lvls of absorb really make tristram much easier - try to have some absorbs in Light, cold n fire.

Hence the value of Tgods. There are several potential jewelry setups where you could have varying levels of absorb. Ravenfrost is pretty much basic gear, really, so that gives one cold absorb. You can match Tgods and Wisp Projector, which would give you pretty significant Lightning resist. You could also wear Rising Sun, which would have huge Fire absorb at higher character levels, or go with Dwarf Star, or even wear them together (I'm not sure if I would do that, although I'm going to test that against Diablo pretty soon).

And after 5-10 minutes isn't there too many minions round Mefi?

Or a defined minion mount Mefi doesn't summon more just fight? :)

E.G. : lvl 9 Sanctuary (8.6 yards)

Is it enough aura distance?

I tried sanctuary in real (not trist) and i found the knockback frequency not too much...

The main thing i would like to use Sanctuary is that my merc might stay alive during leeching and doing huge damage against undead minions (and get them Busy).

But e.g. 8.6 yard is not too much if mefi goes too far (or minions) my merc cant leech and dies... so i dont know is it good to invest 4 skillpoints (holy freeze, holy fire, thorns) to that skill. :)

oki I've made mine, lvl 80 atm.

he's got:
gris shield /w 3 pdia
guillames(?) face
duriel's shell
heavens light /w 2*shael
cresent moon amu
raven and carrion rings
nosferatus coil
loh
and gores.
lots of random charms giving +strength and so on

also I have a life tap wand on switch (lvl 5)

yeah I made him real cheap, seeing as tristram for the 'middle class' was a "walk in the park" I didn't feel like spending any real cash on him.

I'm wondering if I've got enough cb and max smite ias, and if my 1k dmg that i do will be sufficient?
any idéas on (cheaply) bettering my pala are appreciated

I'd ditch the Carrion Wind - that life leech isn't going to do you any good (because Smite doesn't leech), and there are better ways of getting poison resists. I'd swap it with a Dwarf Star or (if you can afford it) a Wisp Projector.

Life Tap wand isn't going to cut it; you NEED Dracs or Exile as a renewable source of Life Tap. The wand is only a measure to get you started - you WILL die if you can't renew it.

Leech is terrible for ubers - you don't leech from smite, Dark Lords are PI, and you don't leech from the skeleton mages either. Ditch Crescent Moon for something else - I use a 66 life/30 res all amulet.

Other than that, just make sure you have an inventory full of resist charms. Keep in mind that you need to overcome the Hell penalty, Mephisto's Conviction penalty, *and* still hit max resists in hell. So, 100 + 125 + 75 - 30 (Anya quests) gives you about 270 resist all you ideally want to hit. Mephisto's physical attack is dirty, and his elemental attacks *will* kill you if you have bad resists.

You have more than enough ias and crushing blow. You could start socketing resists runes to your gear (guil and duriel's) and change nosferatu for something with resists like credendum or ik,since you don't the ias from nos. The smartest move though would be to use dracul's. Carrion and crescent will only help with the damage goes to mana mod,so they are dispensable too.

Well, I got lucky and found some things that made me kinda rich... I've had a zealot many times over and wanted to build a uber killer that can still do some baal runs ;)

I use:

2x um'd G skull (I may replace these with ED jewels... debaiting)
Last wish phase (low .. and yeah I rolled it like all my runewords :hanky: )
coh (928 D)
Up'd um'd HOZ

Up'd gores
Dracs
Up'd Tgods

245 raven
3 mana 5 leech 2 DR ring (needed some kinda mana leech :prop: )
Ammy: highlords

Takes about 45 - 60 seconds to wipe the 3 of them in trist ;)

AND .. he is only lvl 76 :D

Kingdryland -
Figured I'd owe you a thanks for this guide. I followed it to a T with all the expensive stuff. Had most of that lying around with my MF sorc anyway. I still have some tight spots in the Furnace of Pain when they LT me, but other than that, I own the ubers. Best torch out of the 8 I got so far is a 14/17 Palidan.
Now I'm just hunting Dclone.

Thanks again.

Kingdryland + others,

Great guide. I finally read all 40 pages of posts. I don't know how you can answer the same questions every day without getting totally pissed and telling everyone to "read the original guide dammit!"

Now that my MF sorc (meteorb) is getting some good runs, I may have to start trist running myself rather than trading off the keys. You've convinced me to build my first non-caster char. Keep up the good work, and I hope you're still here to answer me when I ask, "Is my HOZ a good shield to use?" for the 50th time.

It may reduce the number of questions if you re-wrote your guide as an entire fanatic zealor guide that also tells people how to kill the ubers using 1 pt smite. I know guides should be broad and allow for variation, but most people don't want (can't seem to understand) anything other than a few cookie cutter equipment options (ladder and non-ladder) and a table of skills and stat points. I suppose the ignorant & lazy will still be there to ask "what about ..." even if you cover it directly in the guide.

Thanks again,
*jak3676

Thx!

1 noob question:

if i use a ring like +4 to minimal damage and my smite damage is e.g. 46-46 what will happen? :)

+4 minimal adds to max? :P
Or nothing happens?

It is a fiction but im interested in that :)

Plus minimum damage from gear or charms won't work with smite. Plus to maximum won't work either. If you have an item that offers both to minimum and to maximum it will appear as "adds xx-xx damage" like war traveler boots. Again,it won't work with smite.

@Magechik. The name 1pt smiter is "marketing". If some months ago I would have named the guide "uber tristram zealot" most people wouldn't have bothered read it or they would have misunderstood it. Early in the guide ,at skill distribution, I state that it is nothing new really, just the fanatic zealot as it is after 1.10 patch came.

Hm, and what damage increase does work with smite?

only grief and Last wish?? :))

Not too much items... :)
or???

If you check the first page of the guide, you'll see that it says:

"Smite damage roughly depends on active damage auras (might, concentration, fanaticism), skill points invested and totally skill level of smite and holy shield,( since smite has no synergy), type of shield used (every shield has a certain base smite damage), enhanced damage % from the gear (eg. ed%jewels, fortitude etc) EXCEPT from the main weapon itself, total strength of char and last but not least +damage modifier from weapon."
