Ladies and Gentlemen...
It is my utmost pleasure to welcome you into the Edtlahq Memorial Bar for the SPF Awards ceremony, 2011. Dews are being passed around, infact I can see that Leo has already poured one over Coju for inappropriate behaviour. Certainly is an atmostphere here tonight!
Here comes the judges;
Thyiad is making her way to centre stage with her ban stick poking out of her jeans.
There's Kestegs, posting every 2 steps as he makes his way to the judges table.
Oh god... FredOfErik is, sort of making his way there, more of a drunken stumble really... Dear me.
Now, all 7 judges are seated, let's get this show on the road!
It's time to meet the judges!
Judge #1, introduce yourself:
I'm FredOfErik, casual d2 player, spam-enjoyer. No matter who wins I will consider myself the best newcomer.
Judge #2, introduce yourself:
I'm queenEm. 30-something (that's valid until 40, right?) lady from south of Sweden with a 4 month old baby that takes time from D2. This is the only game I have ever played but since Duriel always ripped me apart (normal; I didn't even know about nightmare..) I gave it up for a year or two until I discovered this great place in 2009!

I am Thy. I am always right. Been playing since 2003, drift away but come back. I like detail, wit and good presentation in a post or thread.

jdkerr: My name is Joanna. My favorite thing to do in D2 is shopping. As a judge, I will make my selections purely on the basis of grammatical prowess. I accept bribes in the form of stylish items. Good luck to all contestants, except OMG.

Hi My name is Cakes and I am a spamaholic. I like long walks on the beach and SPAM. I've been in the SPF since 08 and spent most of that time in the EMB. When I get the D2 itch, i mostly play HC tournaments.

Hello, my name is kestegs This is my first attempt at an intro, so I'm nervous, but excited at the same time. So I'm going to just start talking about what I like and hope that you enjoy it! I am an electrician from Colorado, I...um... love...wires. I just........sorry, I'm getting emotional. I love wires, I love every kind of wire! Sorry...I just... really love wires! And I just wanna hug all the wires, but that's crazy, I know I can't hug all the wires! But I just want to...I want to!! I'm sorry...anytime I hear wire...I just...I can't...I love wire, I just...*whew* Damn it...I promissed myself I wouldn't cry! Okay, so anyway, I am a...wire lover! And I love to play video games.....and...... I'm sorry, I'm thinking about wires again. It's just...I think about how many wires don't get put in a home, and how I should have them, and how cute they are and how they are made of copper, and aluminum...and how they get used for fun stuff...I JUST LOVE THEM! And I just want them, I want them in a basket and I want to bend them into a smiley face shape, and I want them to be on a rainbow. I just want a house full of wires, and I just want to roll around with them! I'm sorry....I can't...I can't....I just can't do this...

Plenty of interesting, funny, and knowledgeable threads have been posted throughout the year. The winner is a wonderful thread that not only describes a huge commitment and challenge, but also truly manages to showcase the author's dedication and joy. The winner is:

The judges experienced almost complete agreement on this one. One of the things we, in the SPF, are famous for are our remarkable and sincere community. This thread sums it all up and is a great read for those of us that was not always around (or are getting old and forgetful).

I find it most impressive that after all these years, reading a write up of an interesting character can still completely baffle us all. There was a lot of cool nominees and the winner did not get declared until the last vote. Congratulations to:

The manliest part of the SPF still never manages to fail in producing impressive mortal heroes. Previous winners of this thread have included naked characters - this ones winner was a parttaker of a great tourney:

This wasn't the most crowded category, but once again the winner wasn't found before the very last vote. Between all the great nominees a group of 21 ended up on top:

The generosity of the SPF is well known. This year was no exception. Between nominees that donated what seemt to be entire life's worth of stashes, one especially stood out. One of his donation was no less than a beta CTA runeset which, to be fair, is hard to top.

The kind- and helpfulness of this forum also applies on the trading scene. Huge thanks to all the actors on the trade scene for supplying what dreams are made of - green, gold, and orange. One of the biggest contributers and this years Best Trader was:

Somehow people still manage to come up with original tourney ideas. This years winner is a perfect example of a well organized, demanding and entertaining tourney.

Even though it's old, players still continue to uncover new and unknown details of this game. To help us all get a hold of the massive information about the game we have the authors of our guides. This years winner had helped many a crafting nub get some much appreciated insight in this sorcery:

The pals of the forum have made it an art to use unlucky, funny, or wise comments from their fellow forumites to pimp their own sense of humor. The best of 2011 was:

This was a small category with only two nominees. Both are always capable of bringing a smile upon our lips, but there can be only one:

Some people are sad that more and more familiar faces have left the community. However, we also still get newcomers. 2011 was a great year and blessed us with the addition of more than a couple of cool people. Between the judges it was naturally decided that there can be only one Best Newcomer. And in that case the choice is rather obvious. May I present the great, kind, goodlooking king of the newcomers:

Lifetime Achievement Award:
The most prestigious award is given to someone who has in someway significantly had an impact on our knowledge and understanding of the game and contributed heavily to the forum. This year it was a close call between two: Hrus and jiansonz. The winner is:
