Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge

He's right on par with Eliot at 77, but that is a little low to be tanking Vampires and Mummies at the end of Act2 Hell.

Eliot has some versatility on him, and the ability to dish out multiple types of damage, so it was worked around. I re-rolled the map several times to try and get one w/out the mummies, but I gave up after a few trys (after that rather hair-raising scene in the Canyon Eliot lived through), and just went at it again. One pack of champion mummies I was able to bypass, other than that one room I cleared the whole tomb, just like the rest of Act2.

I got a Shimmering Small Charm +5 of off LK runs today :jig:

This'll be awesome if I get to Act 4 with a zon.

I plan on finishing tonight and sending on to Joebruce. Havent had much time to play this week. Alot of RL stuff i had to do.

I dont like double posting, but i guess its been too long to edit.
Anyway i sent on Dickenson to JoeBruce, and i also recieved Bishop from Hrus.

Making slow, but steady, progress through act 2, with GertrudeStein. Might even get done tonight.

But, it sure would help if my merc's Insight weapon would be working. What gives? Earlier in the session, it was. But, I've had all kinds of money problems, and had to exit, to get stuff out of the stash to sell, after the Claw Viper Temple. Now, I've gone through the Palace, and one arm of the Arcane Sanctuary, and I'm getting no Meditation benefit. What's the point, if it doesn't work? Is this like regular merc auras, that sometime just don't kick on, for a long time? I mean, this is way beyond a long time. Or, is something broken?

This, and the money woes, are really slowing me down.

Edit: Nevermind. It must have been broken....but I fixed it. Unequipped weapon and re-equipped, and presto, instant Meditation aura. Odd....

Anyhow, things are working much better now.

Ok. I did it. That was fatiguing. More like wiped me out. Money woes and merc deaths lead to long, tedious, tough, frustrating times, in Tal Rashas tomb, when you don't find the altar quickly. Sold quite a few things from the stash, and even had to resort to selling quite a few gems, to resurrect my merc, multiple times. Did good, until the tomb. That was tough stuff. Much tougher than Duriel.

Anyhow, GertrudeStein lived through it, and is en route to Skunkbelly. If not for her Valkyrie, I doubt I'd be saying that:wink3:

If your merc dies, after you revive him you must un-equip and then re-equip his weapon for the Meditation Aura to be reactivated.

Hi all,

Just a reminder... once you've received your act 3 character, you may begin.

Gertrude Stein is working her way, slowly, through act 3 hell. She's found the eye and the Bird, and is sitting at the Great Marsh WP (alas, one of those maps where the GM can't be skipped ).

I've had an interesting time outfitting her. I have a decent weapon for her very weak back-up skill, and very very weak weapons for her primary skill. But luckily, I have another weapon on my stash that is tremendously effective: Gimmershreds. She's using those on critters that are immune to her main attack, and it's working well. The only thing that may prevent me from using them later on is repair cost. I'm only about 20% through the act, and I've already had to resurrect the merc three times. Ouch. I only have about $250K left, and I've sold a good portion (but not all, thank goodness) of my useless items.

Gimmershred is a wonderful versatile weapon and I think is underrated in general, so you are fortunate to have that in your stash!

Lowell has completed A3 Hell and has been doing (very slow, careful) LK runs in hopes of getting something useful. No luck yet and compared to my normal LK runner, this is an excrutiatingly slow pace. So I can't expect much! But I will be able to send him on, assuming he doesn't trip on his laces in LK at some point.

Does the Rune repair recipe work on Gimmershreds? This should save a ton of gold if you've got the Rals/Orts in your stash. And try running LK with her once you get there. HD has already netted me 1.5 million . Might be tough with a zon though.

EDIT: Purplelocust, since you've finished with Act3 I'll get HD moving along so you can get going with her. I've had her parked at LK for almost a week or so now.

Wow, Brak. You're like in another universe, compared to me, monetarily.

Skunk...well, now you've hit upon another reason for my monetary issues, last act:wink3:

I'm not even sure I can finish act 3, with Eliot. Let alone do Lower Kurast runs. Unfortunately, I've never played this sort of build. Let alone, this sort of build that's sort of messed up.

Took HD on down to the Durance lvl 2 WP today. My gold situation is even beginning to amaze me. I have over 4.1 million right now. Had 2.4 when I started with her. I even stopped picking up gold on LK runs unless it's blocking my view when I take a rune screenshot. But I've done about 400-500 runs so I guess that'll do it.

Also I got this baby killing the Council. It's a sucky role, but my first ever:flip:

Gheed's Fortune
Grand Charm
Keep in Inventory to Gain Bonus
Required Level: 62
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 85
Fingerprint: 0x1f5190ce
107% Extra Gold from Monsters
25% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
Reduces All Vendor Prices 10%

Now I can get even more gold , and keep it in my inventory for the merc res savings (this works right?). Good luck to all, hope the merc issues aren't spoiling the fun for you.

I don't think Gheed's affects resurrection costs- they seem to be 50k for high-level mercs whether or not you have Gheeds. Nice find!

Well, since I'm supposed to get him in act 4, please feel free to get him killed for me :jig:

Gertrude Stein is rolling along nicely in act 3... slower than this build would usually be, but certainly not dangerous (yet). She has now reached the
Lower Kurast WP, and will probably do enough runs there to get to 1 million gold. That ought to cover me for the rest of the tourny. I'm up to almost 400K now, and that's just from selling potions

Found a Hellslayer in a chest. Too bad it couldn't have been a grailer, but it's always fun to find an EU that way, regardless of what it is.

Is everyone who is short on gold grabbing potions, gems, jewels and charms to sell? The higher value throwing and poison potions are pretty good money, and I've just been grabbing them steadily all along to build up a pretty decent stash.

Oh, most definitely. When I was at my worst point, I resorted to picking up each and every single health and mana pot to sell! Pain in the butt, but I needed every dime, at that point. I've not sold any charms or jewels, yet. I've saved them for possible crafting, rerolling purposes. But, with me having to sell gems, I may as well start selling a lot of those, as well. The few charm rerolls I did didn't work for crap, anyhow.

The main problem is, due to time constraints,(well that and fear) I haven't done any reruns. Or, played above players 1. So, it's natural I'm behind in the cash. I may try to rectify it, in act 3, a bit, though. I can't be this way in acts 4 and 5.

I've found far more jewels that I could possibly use to craft, since there are only a few items that are options for crafting. So I've been selling those, as well as charms that I am very unlikely to use. Gems I've been stingier with, at least flawless, but I've been selling regular and down for a while and they add up. But probably the biggest difference is that I've had to rerun areas a lot- several of the characters I got were underlevelled to the point of severe danger, so I reran areas with them for a while to level up, and during that time accummulated a fair amount of gold. And I'm still coasting on a lot of gold accummulated from selling potions and gems from normal and nightmare at higher player counts as well.

I've still got every Jewel and Charm that dropped along the way in my Stash. It has over 1.5K items in it now. Guessing Full Rejuvs make up the largest amount of them, but I haven't sold any Gems since they are the most useful of the 'sellables' due to rerolling. I also forgot to mention I finally got a halfways decent reroll on my merc's mancatcher. I think its a Ferocious Mancatcher, 189% ED. Now he's leeching enough to stay comfortably alive and taking noticable damage of off enemies. Before he was just a sideshow distraction.
