Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge

Still haven't done much crafting yet. For some reason most of my blues are non-craftable items like bone helms, large shields and bramble mitts. Did make a decent dual res Curiass, but my body armor situation is already quite good.
You can make a glove Caster craft with the bramble mitts.

Every character use?...........well, the Rhyme shields, naturally, for the CBF, resists, etc. The Iratha's gloves, belt and helm carried all my characters resist wise, through NM. A +53 life, +19 all resists ammy is a must now in Hell. Stealth armor for most, as well. For the merc, it sure was nice to get a four socketed thresher to start. Insight is a nice thing. And, Spirit Shroud armor keeps him from being frozen, too.

HD has completed Hell act 1. There were dicey moments, for sure. No NDE's, but there sure could have been some, or even the Deeds screen. Her abilities and some careful play on my part got her through. Archer boss packs with Curse were treacherous. Actually took down Pitspawn, though. Danger, danger. Will admit I ran away from a few situations. Wasn't worth the risk.

Speaking of Imbuing, I'm not happy with what I got during the normal play through. Didn't get any normal circlets or coronets, and that's what I'd like to use. Not sure if I want to do any Tower runs. I'm almost thinking why tempt fate? I live through this, and as we've already, repeat runs have done some of us in. We shall see. I may just skip it, or use something else.

Edit: P.S. When's the deadline for Hell act 1?

Well, I give up. HD is being forwarded on to my new recipient, SKunkbelly. My last two have gone down in succession, Skunk. Here's hoping you fare better.

Realized it's futile, as I had to resurrect my merc so often in act 1, I'm out of cash. Can't resurrect him, and without him, I'm not running anything. Sorry to send along the dead merc, Skunk. Can't help it. Just not up to hours of looking for cash to get 42K. Here's hoping the same thing doesn't happen to me! :wink3: Hell is where the not being able to pick up and sell items may cause problems.

I really felt I should do Tower runs, after the Hell Countess dropped me a friggin El and Eld. Nice, real nice. After a somewhat treacherous run, I expect a bit more than that. That's where LoD really sucks compared to ES. In Hell, you should be guaranteed to get better than that. Otherwise, it's not worth the risk.

Andariel did drop me a unique Buriza. Not bad. Had one in HC, and even had one in my tourney stash already, though. But, still not bad.

I can't pick a few items that I've been using over and over that are even worth mentioning, so I'd like to go the other way and list off my number 1 most useless item.

Every time I passed by it in my stash I would calculate how much Str I was short and it made me laugh every time.

I still have hope that I'll get to use it before the tourny is over! :wink3:

Hey, I get a couple of weeks off now until the next one starts!! For the record, my mercs were using Blackleach Blade, Crow Caw, and Hwanin's Splendor. I only started having problems with them in A2 Hell. Even in Hell I always had max resists, never got to play a Druid, and tried out several new builds and characters. I got farther than I expected and generally had fun.

Good luck everyone remaining.

@Hoop - I think the Iron Golem would pass on.

Sorry to see you go Ohomemgrande. It was nice receiving characters from you this deep into the tourney. Wish more had been like Updike. Also wish you hadn't killed of the sorc:angry:, I really really wanted one for Act 3. O well. See you in the next Pass it on tourney

Lowell has finished Act 2. Only one NDE in the Maggott lair when I slightly teleported coming back in through a town portal. Then missed my potion hotkeys (all four of em). He'll be sent on once I get the word. Everything else was uneventful. Guess I'll be getting a Sin for Act 3. Pulling for a trapper. Should be fun.

Oh and Hp, an IK iron golem would be cool. Might be the only realistic way you can use it. But I think the ability to place the golem is what makes it so useful. Lot like a Decoy with slow.

Hp_sauce: mail with Bishop succesfuly received (was in spam folder :wink3: )

I have beaten the 1st act hell with Dickinson, no real NDEs, every tough bosspack was handled by a clever use of teleport. Pitspawn was killed from around the corner.
I didn't do any serious reruns so far, but I wanted to have an Amn rune. So I run Countess for three times - got Lem, Lum, Amn :azn:

The imbue reward was terrible:
Brimstone Lock
Battle Belt
Defense: 56
Durability: 11 of 18
Required Strength: 88
Required Level: 25
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 77
Fingerprint: 0xabac463c
+32% Enhanced Defense
Attacker Takes Damage of 4
52% Extra Gold from Monsters

But Andariel dropped the ethereal Bonehew, which is going to the prize stash and will be given to Skunkbelly after end of the tourney.

EDIT: Dickinson sent to Hoop.

How did this drop to page three.

Oh well. Bump.

Rule 6 of the forum rules.

6. Thou Shalt Not Engage in Unnatural Bumping.

We have a "bump up" feature, where the post with the most recent addition goes to the top of the forum listing. If your post is good, it'll be responded to. If it's responded to, it'll undergo the process we call Natural Bumping. Natural Bumping = good. Unnatural bumping = bad. Unnatural Bumping is where someone posts, "I'm adding this to put this thread back at the top." Do it, we slap your hand. Do it often, you pull back a bloody stump.

Just kidding, not trying to be a mod. I was reading forum rules if anything was stated about banning per own request (nebux) and came across rule 6. Remembered this post.

RIP, Kenyon. I wasn't particularly crazy about her myself (but then, I'm not a big fan of Blizzard, and her back-up attack was a bit weak), but I'm sorry to see her go.

An IK Maul Iron Golem *would* be great, and it should stay with the character (unless, of course, you un-summon it before you pass the character forward, which would be good strategy!).

HD received, and ready for battle. She killed Radament last night with no troubles whatsoever. She isn't the strongest character, but she should do fine.

As for gear that I find myself using over and over:

MERC: Griswold's Armor (haven't filled two sockets still... probably should), Insight Thresher, 19% resist all circlet (ugh, my best merc helm). Aside from the weapon, ugh. But doable, at least.

CHARACTERS: I'm not sure how I'll do with melee characters at this point, but I'm in decent shape for casters... most characters lately have worn Suicide Branch, Rhyme shield, Skin of the Vipermagi, and Peasant Crown. Not great for hell, but certainly decent. For melee, though, I'm in tougher shape... those aren't just my best caster items, they're my best basic items for anyone. If I need it, I still have a two-socket plate mail and a Lum rune for Smoke... but we'll see, so far it doesn't seem like it will be necessary (we'll see if I get another character who needs a two-handed weapon).

At this point, only JoeBruce needs to complete act 1 hell (and he still has until tomorrow to finish). Everyone else is in act 2.

Therefore, when you finish act 2, you may now feel free to pass your character forward. And if you receive your act 3 character, you may begin playing them. But please, if you finish act 3, do not send your act 3 character forward until I give the go-ahead.

There are now 9 players left... less than half of the original field. Not bad! Things should start to get very, very interesting soon :badteeth:

RIP Kenyon! I'm sorry to see her go as I thought she would be one of the final survivors in Hell and I was looking forward to perhaps seeing her again. A character with a strong attack and teleport is a great combination, even if the secondary attack isn't strong.

I played Kenyon in A2 Normal, and I was first to have her after Wolron created her. She at that point was your basic sturdy cold sorc and cruised easily through A2.

Kenyon upon arrival was level 21 with:
S 70 D28 V47 E35
Skills: Warmth 2 Static 1
Ice Bolt 3, Ice Blast 14, Frozen Armor 1

I steered her down the route to a Blizzard sorc, and when she left me, she was level 28 with str 70, dex 28, vit 82 e 35. I put all her points in Vitality(which I seem to do with just about every character I get this tourney...) When she left, her skills were

Skills: Warmth 2 Static 1
Ice Bolt 3, Ice Blast 15, Frozen Armor 1
Glacial Spike 1, Blizzard 5, Frost Nova 1

If I had been continuing her myself, I would have left the skillpoint I put in Ice Blast as unspent so that I could put points in both Cold Mastery and Blizzard both upon getting to level 30, but I didn't want to send her onward with an unassigned skill point.

I had Kenyon for Norm Act 4. Aside from having to drink many mana pots we had a solid run together. By the time she left me she looked like this.

Ice Blast: 16
Blizzard: 5
Ice Bolt: 3
CM and Frozen armour: 1
and some pre-req

TK, Static, Teleport: 1

Warmth: 2
Firebolt: 1
Fireball: 1
Fire Mastery: 1

I honestly can't remember which of those points were allocated by me.

R.I.P.

I am very surprised that she died. I had Kenyon in Act V NM, and she was the most powerful char I had seen. Her secondary skill was slightly weak when I got her, but I pumped about 3-4 points into FB and FBolt, which raised the damage quite well.

Maybe it was because I had such good sorc gear, but I really thought she would win the whole thing.
