Skunkbelly's Ultimate Tournament Challenge

You'll receive Olga from EJB, I'm sure. People have until Saturday to finish A1 Hell.

I first saw your Deeds news on the new Skunky tourney thread....but here you go again, Gabriel. RIP.

Sorry to hear that. Now that Ignatow is dead, I can share my full thoughts, as well. Being I had him last, I know him quite well. I put quite a few levels on him, myself. He was pretty underleveled for Hell, when I got him. If I had found something good to Personalize, during my first run through of act 5, you would have been amazed at how underleveled he was:wink3:. I added quite a few, doing runs.

As I alluded, in the earlier post, the weapon was everything with him. Aldur's is really underpowered for Hell, so you were at a big disadvantage there. The way Avengers lack crowd control, the quicker you can kill the monsters/demons, the better. The step up from a Coldkill to a Bloodmoon, after multi-leveling to raise his Dex, was a world of difference, for me. Sounds like you just didn't have that capability, equipment-wise.

As far as the skills go, I, too, didn't like the setup. I'm a believer in points into the synergies for an Avenger. Unless you play twinked, and have lots of mana steal, the mana price is steep. All my points went into the Resists, for that reason.

Also, frozen, eh? Sounds like you didn't have any two socketed shields in the tourney? If I didn't, I'd have been finding one in Normal or NM, to make a Rhyme, for CBF, alone. When you're limited in your options, that's end game viable. I've got two of them, in my tourney stash:smiley:

Was it Pitspawn? You didn't mention it, in your post. But, as was said, sounds like it. Run, Forrest! Unless I'm feeling very confident about my character, I'm VERY cautious with that crew. Died too many times there. I certainly don't seek him out. I've ran away, and lived, many a time, now. Usually he seems to be the worst in Normal, as it's such a step up, in danger, suddenly. But, in any act, he's not to be trifled with.

Yeah it was Pitspawn, and the thing was, I didn't see him til I was dead. He popped around a corner, and bam, I was dead while killing a different tainted.

Probably should have had a CBF, but then I had switched to 2h for any sort of damage, so it wouldn't have helped at the time.

Hrus I have sent Bishop along for you to give Act 2 a go with, better check your spam box! :wink3:

I have also safely received Tennyson from Purplelocust for Act 2.

Good luck this round everyone!
-hps

I sent Tennyson on to hp_sauce for him to play in Act 2, and I am waiting for my A2 Hell character. I think that should be Olga from EJB, or maybe from Wolron if EJB sent Olga to him before realizing that Wolron's character Sidney died.

Olga is very slow moving...I am slowly moving her through the jail as we speak...
I should have her either dead or past andy by thursday...

Sorry, I didn't meant to rush you, I just wasn't sure who had her! Take care! I won't be able to play until Saturday at the earliest so be careful.

Well, after 5 merc revivals and 2 full belts worth of potions, Andy fell. Olga is on her way, and GL with her...

EJB

Edit: I didn't do a quest with Olga...Will try not to die with her going through to kill Blood Raven.

I recieved Olga and she's ready to start A2. She had a weapon on switch that you forgot to remove, EJB, so I'll delete that even though I covet it greatly...

Countess running with Lowell just took too long even though I had the perfect map to do it. Oh well, he's been sent on to Brak now.

This is what I imbued:
Cruel Shell
Circlet
Defense: 53
Durability: 21 of 35
Required Level: 24
Item Version: 1.10+ Expansion
Item Level: 80
Fingerprint: 0x68c97006
+74% Enhanced Defense
Damage Reduced by 3
+1 to Summoning Skills (Druid Only)

yipee.

Oh yeah, Kenyon received and ready to go.

Oh...my Precious....
That was a little beauty that Skunk put in my origional stash...

It's a lowly blue staff, tanatalizingly available at most shops for under 150000 gold with some patience, but way out of reach for many of us in this tourney...

I love all of those blue items in my stash. With some PGems, some have become quite handy indeed.

This does bring up an interesting item. As people drop out, it would be fun to hear about some of the useful things you used or created from items in your stash.

I've enjoyed a little blue amulet that has +10 resist all and probably +0.75/clvl of life. Maybe I should try to craft something for my merc tonight.

Eye of Etlich was put on every character, until, luckily enough, I switched to a rare 4 resist ammy right before I died. So, Eye of Etlich still safe.

Skin of Vipermagi, Full Hwanin's set (after Normal personalization, really useful in low-mid levels), Viscerataunt great shield even if only sorc can use +skill.

Didn't get high enough level to use any (most) of my elite uniques, they were all like 74+

edit: on the other hand, when I had a sorc (i.e. Kenyon) I sat at about +10 skills with my gear. It was awesome.

I've had terrible luck with crafting, and I had lousy rare amulets in my stash, so basically the only two amulets I've used in the tourny were Tancred's Weird (I had two other set pieces... not great, but useful for melee in normal) and a blue magic 13 resist all, 57 life amulet (not bad, under the circumstances). Same difficulty with belts... String of Ears for melee chars, and a +50 life blue magic belt for casters.

and I had lousy rare amulets in my stash,

Speaking of lousy amulets, who contributed the crafted amulet that had clvl requirement of 84 or so and gave +1 to Druid skills. Completely useless. I should sell it.

It's ironic that I keep getting Druid equipment on my imbues and I never saw a Druid in this adventure.

In the first 99 items tourney (where you play the same character all the way along), my Blizzballer spent ridiculous piles of perfect gems rerolling a blue circlet from her original stash, as she was in desparate need of life leech for her mercenary. She did many many cow runs for gems and charms and rerolled that circlet what seemed like hundreds of times. It probably wasn't hundreds, but it was at one point or another +1 or +2 to skills for every single class. I had this vision of that circlet becoming rounded from all the rerolling it did. She did finally roll it into a 7% LL hat and that was fantastic but the total wealth spent on that was unconscionable. It would have taken probably just one or two stashes of gold to gamble something like that or probably much better.

This time, I have been very fortunate with my imbues. My NM imbue was a circlet that has life leech and prismatic resists and every merc since then has worn it with great glee. My reward items have been pretty much terrible (except there were some OK FCR rings from Ormus) but I have kept them all as ingredients for crafting and rerolling, though there have been no success stories there yet. I did eventually use the Coral ring cube recipe with the useless ilvl 7 quest reward Ring of Craftsmanship (or something) from Akara in normal, which had two nice effects- I needed LR at the time and it bumped the ilvl up from 7 to 30, which will improve its chances of making a nice craft if I try crafting that one.

Edit: @Ohomemgrande- I can't claim that crafted amulet! That was a terrible thing to send in, with the char level requirement and no ability to reroll it. I thought we were only supposed to send in "raw ingredients" so sending in such a precrafted amulet ranks right up there with whomever sent in the broken non-repairing ethereal boots or whatever those were.

I've had three stash items that have been used on most every character. First is a chromatic circlet 30% res all that I socketed in normal for a P ruby (unfortunatly only one hole). Also have a sweet res all ammy that 50% fire, 17% everything else, and a really nice rare sharskin belt with 24% FHR and lightning/poison res. I also got a really good NM imbue on some boots. Ended up with 20% FRW and tri-res, they've been used on every character since. Add on a Rhyme shield and a Smoke armor (thank you NM Countess) and I haven't had any res issues.

My re-rolling is still pretty bad. I've spent over half of my gem stash trying to get something useful out of a blue Mancatcher for my merc. If I don't get something soon, he's stuck with the up'd Bloodthief until he can use my supplemental EU. I did get very lucky with my only rare re-roll when I hit the 6% LL circlet for my merc.

One item I made that has been helpful was my Lightning res ring. Don't have many items with light res so I used my Normal Cain Rescue ring and the P Topaz recipe to randomly roll this ring into something useful. Think it's at 29% light Res, 3 MDR or soemthing like that.

Still haven't done much crafting yet. For some reason most of my blues are non-craftable items like bone helms, large shields and bramble mitts. Did make a decent dual res Curiass, but my body armor situation is already quite good.
