Players 8 in HC? No thanks. I used to use it in 1.09, but no more. I did try players 5 in the Blood Moor this time, but ditched it quite quickly in the Den of Evil.

Have you used Players 8, all along? Am I missing something? That's some slow going, and quite a bit more dangerous. Of course, I was trying it with the Sorc, and did not with my Pally. I'm sure he would have fared better with 5 on, but I did not figure it was worth the risk.

I used to think 5 was a nice happy medium, anyways.

Maybe everyone but me is using it? I notice most have higher levels than me at the same areas.

Err players 8 for basically any character in Normal isn't really hard. Sorceresses just need to have a little boost to their spells before they start to find it easy. However, for tombs and the maggot lair, i usually go for players 1 so i can get through them quickly, although someone like Jianzons would totally disagree with me.

I use players 8 at least through normal, dropping it down for Act Bosses as required. It doesn't really slow you down too much since levels are gained much faster, and more items drop.
 
/p8 all the way until Hell start for me. With builds that aren´t super-strong, exceptions are made for NM Ancients (I respect them, /p1 there), Duriel (/p5 to remove the no-drop risk), Baal and Diablo (/p3 to remove no-drops).

So far, I haven´t seen one participant leave act 2 at my "standard" character level, 28.
 
I've been using /p8, and I plan to use it through to hell. It just seems like cheating almost, playing on a lower players setting than that, the monsters go down far too easily.

I'm not decided about which weapon I'd like to have in end NM / hell, but first I have to GET there, here.

Huh. Just as I suspected, looking at the standings.

Well, I signed up here, last year, but haven't done much since. I'm very new to these single player forums, so I'll kind of give my re-intro here. I was in a Guild, the Knights of the Forgotten Order, for years, now, that's fallen on hard times. So, I've played a lot. As I said, I used to use P8, all the time. But, I regretted, it, after a few HC deaths. I started using 5, but with the improved monster toughness in 1.10, I pretty much stopped that. I really am surprised so much of a percentage of us are using that, in HC. I guess I'll have to give it a try, again, with my Pally. I didn't think he was having that easy of a time. Perhaps I was babying him too much :)

I sure do know it helps drops.

Baal was annoying and took alot of time to bring down. I really miss decepify :(

Luckily we found Battlebranch :) which also is our best find yet.
 
Well, I'm leading the pack in a bad category here. Death #2 just occured(has anyone else had even one?), as my offensive Pally, who was just starting to pick up a little more steam, with Holy Shock, fell to Szark(sic?) in the Spider Cavern. Got surrounded by the spiders, and the second the amp dmg hit, all 300 life was gone. I can't tell you the last time, if ever I had a character die to that boss. I know he can be dangerous with that, but I usually do ok. Matter of fact, I can't recall, is he always Cursed AND Extra Strong? I'm still surprised I got taken out with one hit, at that level of the game, with 300 life, though. Ah, well. Worst part about it is, I was starting to find better stuff, but didn't get any of it vaulted.

Found Berzerker axe, Arcanna's skull cap, Infernal cap, Rixot's Keen short sword. All but Infernal Cap lost. Well, that too, unless I get it via ATMA.

Still have my assassin to try.

My adventure is going smoothly so far. Found Umbral Disk and Hsaru's boots, both of which have been a big help... and one item, for the prize stash... Isenhart's Case! :flip: Much as I love the Umbral Disk right now, I might need to trade it in for a rare rondache I found, for the resists. We'll see.

/players 8 is easy so far in normal, but I shudder to think what mid-late NM will be like with no holy shield, no synergies, and untwinked. Eek.

@Billybgame: Yes Szark always has cursed and extra strong iirc.

Furion has defeated Andy and moved onto Act 2, hiring an act 2 merc at once. Boy is this guy strong, 3 level 5( +2 from skill shrine that i always search for at the beginning of the game) synergised with level 9 base spirit wolves, coupled with a level 5(+2 from shrine again) HOW, they just rip through everything in a couple of seconds. Ran Andy a bit, netting a nice ammy, awesome ring and bloodfists, my favourite starting gloves.

You do no that for removal of the no-drops you need much higher player setting. For Diablo & Baal you would need P5, for Duriel it's not possible at all.

The higher Players settings work at 50% concerning MF/nodrops. (It works the same as people joining the game but not the party if I am correct).

My own update, slowly catching up. No real difficulties, no NDE's. I hope 1.11 will keep me safe from the FE-Bug, the rest I should be able to survive.
I played everything at P8 except for Act Bosses or some tough region. (maggot lair).
