Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

I don't know if it would or not Autti, that is why I corrected myself. :)

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

If you have questions about roles or mechanics don't hesitate to ask.

Unless it is asking why / why not lynch D1.....

On how the game is playing out, lots of posts (which is good) no one standing out much to me. I will post some thoughts about particular players.

Autti: To me Autti appears to be a new person, posting a lot asking questions, making assumptions etc. That said the post about assuming someone to be townie does seem a little off.

@ Autti: Who do you think is scum and why?

Sath: I was initially finding it a little strange at how he posted at the beggining, as others have pointed out it was fairly random. What I found interesting was he said a couple of times about having a whole lot of replies, but then not posting them (Ref post 60, post 67, 95, 102, 103). This led me to think that maybe he had some kind of post restriction, however post 150 debunks this

Goryani: Goryani was the only person to really attack me about my question as to the merits of a no lynch, post 76.
I concur with Gwaihir. The dream chosen by mafia before the day started sounds like it will have an effect during today and also for night actions tonight. Night actions will be completed and results returned/posted by the time the new dream takes effect.
I am not sure if we are interpreting it the same way.

Dreams effect only the next day step or the next night from when they are 'cast' depending what it is.

This part of RE suggests that it is one or the other.

Each night a new dream is cast, which in turn effects only the next relevent step and so on. There will never be 2 dreams in effect at once.

This part suggests they only choose at night, my guess is they can choose whether it effects day or night. Not really sure though as the bit about "next relevant step" has me confused.

@Gory / Gwaihir: Why do you think that dreams effect both day and night? Are you interpreting RE differently to me?

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Edit. Looks strange, but when I was talking to goryani the quote I referenced was not post 76. I kind of trailed off a little bit what I meant to say was.

Man I hate no edit, should have previewed ......

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Regarding Noddle. He has only posted a handful of posts, no one with just a little substance, and I see no Noodle/BA bantering either.

I know that Noodle normally doesn't post much, but it still seems a bit off.

I have a bad feel about BA too. I don't get his reasoning for voting kori. (I'm NOT trying to speak for anyone here. I've learned my lesson) And I thought his whole "post restriction question" was odd at least.

Also, I miss some Noodle/BA bantering!

LOL at the irony.

Fixed formatting to make it more readable.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

You can always take your cell phone to the loo for use during the dozen trips in the middle of the night. Perhaps keep a laptop in there...

Prostate joke?!?!? Now that's below the belt

...scum can basically use the current dream (if it turns out to block investigations) and be immune to investigations. Most likely they are either 1 use or a mix where 2 (maybe 3) are reusable...

Wow you sure are smart for a townie!!

Another smarty pants...

What effect do you think it will have??

Sorry, in World of Warcraft lore, the red dragon known as Korialstrasz has an alter ego who takes the form of an elf, named Krasus. I guess I just assumed it was well known. My bad.

Nope. I tend to go outside.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

g'mornin all. It seems my hunch about Autti is becoming more and more apparent. I completely agree with everything Ankeli said about him (omgzorz, I agree with Ankeli?). First rule of being scum is stick to some towney like a fly on honey so that you either seem innocent by association or take the towny down when and if you flip scum. Also, the fruedian slips that SK has been making heavily indicate to me that he's also on the scum list, but I'm more sold on Autti. Bad Ash is throwing some weird vibes around for me, I don't know what he's smoking. Korialstrasz, for being new to the game you seem to have your head on straight.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

@Jcakes, i have no idea, all i've deduced is that half of the people are very intent on lynching someone and the other half haven't made their mind up yet.

Personally i would assume that those who are actively targeting someone to be scum, whereas those reserving judgement wouldn't be so eager to lynch away no?

So with that in mind, SKJ would be my best bet

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

So you think that I'm scum because I'm actively tarteging someone, when I haven't really been tarteging anyone at this point?

That being good or bad, I'm not sure, but it's a fact.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

i said that goryani (sp?) was being an active townie, i.e assuming he is town

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

So what's your point with thinking that I'm scum?

Flub: That wasn't helpful at all. So you won't play ball and instead refuse to speculate on who is scum and keep making very weird replies?

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

@ SKJ you just seem like you're snooping a lot, maybe thats just me. I wouldn't vote you yet, and i haven't. But the others just seem very paranoid or just over analysing.

TBH i have no idea, although it seems im a good bet haha

Nice out of context quote there ....

For reference. The full quote for that section (note it was in a massive WoT responding to multiple people) was in response to.

"I guess my question is if they can chose to use the same dream multiple nights in a row or if its a one and done kind of situation."

If they have dreams that can be used multiple times, there needs to be some restriction. If there aren't, scum can basically use the current dream (if it turns out to block investigations) and be immune to investigations. Most likely they are either 1 use or a mix where 2 (maybe 3) are reusable.

When taken out of context the way you did it seems much more scummy, and I was almost ready to jump on kori. Fortunately I checked the quote first...My question to you Flubb is why did you choose to remove the context from what was a small quote anyway?

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Bah can't help myself. W things I have to comment on.

@SK: You shouldn't speak for others, even though your intentions were good (as we do play and Skype a bit in the evening). But for the most part, covering for others can lead to some nasty events. Trust me on that one, I've done it myself a couple times in prevous games.

Ping, ping, ping.

Deliberately misleading people, or just didn't understand my post?

Its not that I didn't understand the post, its that I didn't understand the connection between them yet and was hoping someone else would take a look at what I noticed as strange. Someone jumping up to defend someone and then that person in the next post throwing them under the bus for a red flag usually has some kind of meaning.

Seems I have some free time before the interview, so It's time I did something I should've done this morning.

Vote: Pyrotechnician

I feel comfortable placing this right here until he answers or I get a chance to do a proper re-read of the events so far. He has given off the most scum vibes for imo.

I'll try and read a little as well, but I'm on the phone, so hopefully I don't miss something important.

Fake voting I see? Haha, joking, I see your next bolded vote post. As explained above either SK covering for you was a stupid mistake or there is something more to it.

@Jcakes, i have no idea, all i've deduced is that half of the people are very intent on lynching someone and the other half haven't made their mind up yet.

This is not necessarily true, it normally depends on playstyle, me personally I tend to hold my vote until I feel comfortable with my read and if there is a reasonable explanation for wanting to vote them. Others have a different style and will throw votes around like water trying to find information. Even though I haven't placed a vote yet doesn't mean I don't want to lynch thats for sure.

I only see it as a mistake, because I noticed peoples reactions afterwards. Honestly I don't see any harm in doing it. But I will still refrain from doing it in the future.

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

To be read in conjunction with my post #177

That said reading it again. The bit about a mix being reusable seems scummy, that said RE basically confirmed in a previous post that it is a new dream each time.

Each night a new dream is cast, which in turn effects only the next relevent step and so on.

I could be reading into a bit (note I bolded new) but to me that implies different dreams each night.

This leaves me a question for Kori:

Given REs post above (which was before your post) what made you think that there is a pool of dreams that is reusable?

Re: Roles of Madness. Mafia Thread

Everyone but me.

Very definative as always.

He used the same playstyle in the last game which ultimately led to him being lynched and he turned up scum. The tactic is very scummy and misleads people that don't actually read the posts they are coming from.
