Returning to the Roots - Mini mafia game

Game is over!

I finally got around to giving kestegs a killing story.

----------------

Birch had the worst fate of them all. Of all the deaths in the forest, at least they all had one thing in common: they stayed in the forest. Their ashes would nourish the land, giving freedom for new growth. Their seeds would pepper the land, bringing new life where death stood before. They were born of the forest, and their deaths were also of the forest.

Not for Birch, though. His death was the cruelest of them all. For the two others had wicked imaginations, and decided that the forest was no longer welcoming of Birch. Not only did he have to die for the forest to survive, but he needed to be exiled as well, and forced to be the tools and toys of those all trees of the Werewood hated: the humans.

So they turned Birch into Lincoln Logs.

The stories say that if you, Little Timmy and Susy, listen very, very carefully as you build your play cottage, you can still hear the creaks and moans from Birch as it laments its fate.

But what of the other two survivors? What happened to them, you ask? Well, after Birch was gone, night fell upon the Werewood, and both trees stayed up all night watching each other intently, neither trusting the other. For you see, they did not find any rot in Birch's roots. He was as pure as any of the others.

Apparently, it was just one very angry tree.

To this day, both of those trees stand in the Werewood, watching each other vigilantly. Never sleeping, never blinking.

Solar Ice has been lynched! He was...

(Pause for dramatic effect)

... the Mafia Role cop.

Congratulations to the town!

I'll leave it up to the mafia to decide if they want to share their QT.

Congrats everyone! This was a fun read, and a good game to sit out of but still be able to follow along since there were so few players and posts.

Good call by Gwaihir!

Zokar's post reminded me that I loved the stories, too.

Woot!

I'm still a bit mad at myself for not voting you when I had the chance, but Ankeli did his job, so it's all good.

My list:

Gory: first vote is a bit troubling
Phil: he's felt scummy all game, can't exactly put it to words, but it's there past what others have said.
Solar: omgus if you will, but it's a piss poor reason to vote for me and he knows it.

22ish hours into the day, now I see why you guys were so mad :D

And for the record I never really thought Gory was scummy the entire game until the last day. Even when he came after me.

CG: Was SI the mafia roleblocker or the mafia role cop?

Not sure how that endgame happened. I thought I was a goner for sure after D3, with both BA and Gory pointing to me as the last scum before they went. I always seem to play as town just scummy enough to be a constant suspect, but not quite scummy enough to be lynched.

I had figured we were done when I saw Gorys post, I really thought the few missed things I saw were proof, but it turns out Gory is just allowed to make mistakes like the rest of us. Who knew. CG following up with the VT reveal was a surprise. Good analysis as always Gory, I laughed and face palmed when I realized that I accused you of being more scummy than SI for putting less pressure on Phil when you pointed out I had put pretty much none at all on. Derp.

I was really worried Phil pulled a reverse phar and had Ankeli bus him day 1. Thanks phar for now permanently increasing my paranoia in this game.

CG - thanks for hosting, and thanks for the awesome stories. I am currently imagining me and Ankeli as treants like in LOTR, just staring at each other with squinty eyes, waiting for the other to make a wrong move before we start chucking rocks at each other. Hilarious. I think my favorite story was the "Yeah, his sap was really sticky.....hey, wait a minute. That was tricky you guys" one.

Also @kegs - apparently I need to listen to you more often as you had the 2 scum in a list of three day start. Well done.

@SI and Phil. well played, you almost got it. Role reveals made your job harder I think, although that may have been balanced by day talk.

@BA wanted to say this a few days ago, but thought I would look scummy for saying it in game. Beautiful play on role reveal. I am thinking the was the reason we won the game. Otherwise we would have been in LYLO with no info from our only power role.

Well hosted CG! Well played mafia! Weller played town!

Holy crap. Block BA and claim to be Jailer...

Yeah, that would have been end of game. I think that would have been game. BA claims to be blocked, that would have proven jailer to me.

@SI - Why didn't you make an early case for Gwaihir's lynch?

edit: and by early, I mean early in that last day phase.

I was the Rolecop. That was a mistake by Caluin.

Thanks for hosting Caluin and I enjoyed the stories a lot.

I really should have gone after Gwaihir and not tried to be too cute at LYLO. Was a complete ****-up in the end. My apologies for my play at LYLO, Phil. Scumhunting Ankeli at LYLO was always going to end in an OMGUS vote for me and I should have just stuck to the basics and followed the sheep. Ironically enough, I pressured Goryani for going against the flow and fell into that trap myself when I knew far, far better than to do that.

Now to the more serious business:

"That's OK. I almost called SI out for constantly reminding us how he wouldn't be online but bringing up real life stuff is taboo.

edit: I should say, lying about RL stuff is taboo and so is calling someone out for lying about RL stuff. "

Wtf is that supposed to refer to?

@SI - Why didn't you make an early case for Gwaihir's lynch?

edit: and by early, I mean early in that last day phase.

Due to the fact that Gwaihir does not work by super OMGUS, like Ankeli and kestegs do. I thought that if I objectively made him think about a possibility that Ankeli is Mafia that he would at least consider the case.

It was a grave mistake that I saw coming, hoped it would not come but jumped right into the fire anyway.

And to add, it would not make a difference anyway. I was always going to get Ankeli's vote no matter what, and he knows it. When I saw that "make cases boys" that wound me up to be perfectly honest.

It worked. I went back and reread the whole thread (the replies thing is broken for me, not sure why). Between the super bs last game, Ankeli never wavering on his vote for the whole game, and the lets see cases, I gave some serious thought to voting Ankeli.

This. It was late.

The 'jail keeper versus roleblocker' scenario is exactly why it's a Rolecop instead.

I probably would have done the exact same thing as you, for better or worse. The 'make cases boys' comment is the most LAMIST thing said in the thread.

That was the point of the comment, to wind one of you up to try and retaliate against me when I knew that if the remaining townie had even a bit of sense left in them they'd not vote for me given my record in the game. :)

GG, and it was close as it should be in a game this small and vanilla.

edit: and it confirmed my suspicions of you SI, to the point that i was 100% certain instead of 90% or so. Had you played it differently, mildly and not sucking up to either one of us you might've had a chance to convince me.

And to clarify in case I was not crystal clear: Please point to where have I accussed someone of lying about RL stuff. As well as what made you think that I was lying about my internet connection (Which I am not, for your information)?
