Returning to the Roots - Mini mafia game

Now to the more serious business:

"That's OK. I almost called SI out for constantly reminding us how he wouldn't be online but bringing up real life stuff is taboo.

edit: I should say, lying about RL stuff is taboo and so is calling someone out for lying about RL stuff. "

Wtf is that supposed to refer to?

The internet problem timing is suspicious. It follows a classic mafia tactic of contributing early when mistakes can be forgiven then backing off toward the end of the game. It looked like you were downplaying your expected behavior for the rest of the game, making it easier for you to lurk or to wait for others to make the first move.

That was an actual read on you I had at the time after you made posts 191/196/206. There is no way for me to know how bad your internet problems were. Furthermore, anyone can have net issues as town just as easily as mafia. Yet the way in which it was presented looked more like a mafia mentality than town mentality. It's like you were giving the counter argument before being accused. A guilty conscious. It's more of a gut feeling than logic.

As I said, it's not really about having internet issues but comparing what mafia might say when having internet issues to what town might say in the same situation. It's a difficult subject to talk about. Feathers get ruffled. I'm not sure if it's possible to bring the subject up without making it sound like I was calling you a liar. That was not my intent. Even now I regret bringing the subject up but I especially regret the short and pithy presentation. I'm sorry.

Had you played it differently, mildly and not sucking up to either one of us you might've had a chance to convince me.

I find this statement very hard to believe and can imagine you saying that sentence with a nice smug grin. IMHO: You won not because of your effort - you won because Gwaihir made the correct choice. Was I town I am almost certain that I would have done the **exact** same move in LYLO and you would have lost.

You work on the principle of when someone finds you scummy then they are automatically scum. Sucking up? I went after pretty much every player in the game, barring Gwaihir (in case I was lynched that could be used as evidence by Phillinnicus to get Gwaihir lynched).

No worries. I can understand understand your reasoning.

Anyhow, ggs Town, that really was a nailbiting victory and a really fun game (as always!). Looking forward to any new ones that come about.

Maybe I should try to host one as well some time as a test run for any future of my noob modding sometime :p :D

Thanks cg, great game. It was fun to get back to basics and really have to rely on good old fashioned scum hunting.

Thanks for the game CG. The stories were just great!

Thanks everybody for playing. I so would have lynched myself D1 as well. Guess I learned that I should never ever again post in a mafia game with 3 hours of sleep. And I'm really happy that it didn't come down to Ankeli flipping a coin. ;)

Fun game. I just wished I played a bit better.
I guess this is a good a time as ever, what the hell is WIFOM, LAMIST, OMGUS?
I honestly went through the whole game without even knowing.

Also, CG guest narration for Pharph's game if he isn't playing?!
Not sure if you're on the list or not. :P

Nope I got to this time :P

WIFOM: Wine in front of me. Originates in The Princess Bride movie, and refers to basically a guessing game between 2 choices. The basic premise from the movie is there are two cups on the table, one in front of me and one in front of you. One is poisoned, and I know which one is. You pick one and drink it while I drink the other. One person will die. It comes down to a guessing game - did I put the poisoned cup in front of you because I would not drink it? Or did I place it front of myself thinking that you would be suspicious of the one I handed to you? For a mafia example - If you are mafia, do you kill the cop, knowing they are more likely to be saved by a doc or someone else?

LAMIST: Look at me I am so townie. It is an accusation that someone is actually scummy because they are trying too hard to pretend to be town. I see it as thinking that someone is playing innocent and/or dumb. Common mafia example could be lamenting how bad it was that there were 2 people that died in the previous night without actually trying to figure out why or how.

OMGUS: Oh my God you suck. Tends to be an accusation of the other person being mafia, though not always. An example is I vote you and give good reasons. You response is. "I can't be mafia, you are terrible and obviously mafia. VOTE:YOU" Basically the person comes after you because you went after them, not because they actually think you are mafia.

I am sure other people have better understandings and could explain better, but I went first :P

No, that's very helpful!
I just watched that movie the other night, so I totally understand WIFOM.
LAMIST and OMGUS are pretty easy to understand once they're explained.

Thanks a bunch!
