@little birdy - Thanks for rolling this for me! Totally understand on waiting on the second, no big deal there if it doesn't happen right now. We can even just hold off on it entirely - I can see where it would be a little against there spirit of the game.

A question though: It looks like I've got 3 skills from Combat Mastery and 1 from Combat Skills. From the description I was under the impression that for the 4 skills you'd get 2 from each "off tree"

• You are then rolled you skills. One tab is available randomly and the other 2 tabs two skills from each are chosen randomly. (14 total skills to use)

Nope you’re not misunderstanding anything. I just forgot the rules Sorry about that.

I shuffled the three Mastery skills with a list randomizer and kept the top two (Iron Skin and Natural Resistance—lucky you!) and then rolled another Combat skill for you. Here is your revised skill list:

Not a bad recovery on the Blessed Hammer, with a plain scepter you could get a few levels of concentration aura for more damage, or go all defensive auras.

Mephisto down, two Acts to go!!!

I had a few close calls in Act III. Hard to believe that I didn't die in one instance.

I had some concerns about Travincal, but it turned out to be not so bad once I split up the Council Members. Still had to retreat to town a few times recompose myself, but we got it done.

Bremm Sparkfast was the biggest headache. He had Conviction aura and came so close to killing me. Thank goodness for Full Rejuvs. It might have been smarter to exit and try again, but it was a long hike from the Durance waypoint to the L3 stairs and I was feeling stubborn. I won out in the end, but my stockpile of Rejuvs took a hit.

Decided I needed to write up a quick post. Linda is doing Terror Zones in NM until 79 or 80 to finish out my skills. I just finally got a decent wand with +2 fire skills/+3 meteor and may switch back to that over Hydra.

Both have benefits and disadvantages.

Chain Lightning and Lightning Mastery are also both at max level.

Equipment overall is terrible compared to many other toons I've done and feel like it isn't going to get much better. Lots of non-useful finds, so we will see how Hell goes.

My travels went much easier once I found that first Sol Rune in early NM once I found the necessary Paritzan with 4 os:

The use of mana potions has decreased greatly since then

Another nice surprise was this unique amulet, which might prove useful once I let go of my MF gear:

All in all, gameplay was pretty straightforward so far:

LF + Insight = crowds die
Impale + Might merc = bosses die
Valkyrie = sturdy meat shield

Now if only the June roll had been Long Staff ...

... I might be tempted to switch to a passiveZon with Ribcracker

The only distressing thing is that I am not sure about my stat point distribution. It depends so much on the items I find, that I am not sure whether to prefer STR (for Short Spear/Maiden Pike types) or Dex (for Throwing Spear types). I still put 100 points in STR to put on the 4 os Ancient Armor I found with the PTopazes and I still have all my MF gear equipped (290% MF).

The only items I use that aren't mainly MF focused are:

Rhyme Bone Shield
Insight Partizan for my merc
+1 Ama Skills/5% ML rare Short Spear

I am debating whether I should make a Hustle Matriarchal Pike (if I find a base for it) to make boss fights faster (LF is not really well suited for it). That would increase my FPA from 31 with Impale to 18)

Another option would be Harmony, esp. for fights like Ancients or Act bosses...some Revives would surely make things a lot easier in those cases.

After 24 years, I finally have a guardian of the last class that has eluded me: A sorceress!





Normal and NM were a breeze overall.

I used the six perfect skull recipe and was rewarded with this beautiful orb:




My other one was +2 Sorceress Skills, but didn't have the mighty +teleport or resist, or more importantly, the FCR.

The rest of the gear:

Amulet: 28% PR, 16 PDR
Helm: Nat's with PR jewel
Armor: Duriel's shell (Sol)
Shield: Ancient's pledge
Gloves: LR/MF
Belt: Tal's
Boots: 29% Fr/ 21% LR
Life/Resist Charms and one 51 mana GC, and oh, Gheeds! found 2 and last one was a 40%! Also found this:





Merc: Act 5 dual wield with Eth Falcata Strength, Conquest Sword Lawbringer, Smoke in a Scarab Husk, and Bulwark.
Highest Rune drop: Mal (Countess)

+1 MA/25 life skiller and Shapeshifter 12FHR skiller notables.


Ancients Talic had to be killed by kiting and lightning as he was the last to go and downed my mercenary. So happy I finally got this sorceress to guardian, it was a long-time goal in D2 I finally accomplished.

I feel pretty dumb right now... River of Flame and Chaos Sanctuary were not being kind to me in Hell difficulty, so I felt the need to re-tool some things. I headed back to Act I to re-spec and play around with a couple ideas I had, and thought I'd spend a bit of time in The Pit to see if I could find something useful, particularly for my mercenary as I was thinking of switching the merc up as well. This pack of Thorn Beasts took me out. They really didn't look that dangerous! Ugh. You really can't let your guard down for a second.

Thanks for rolling a new character for me! You're right, this game can be so unforgiving. But I also just need to play HC more and "git gud" as they say.

I'm not sure how I'll distribute the points just yet, but some kind of Lightning Fury / Fire Arrow hybrid should be doable. Though I say everything "should be doable" before I inevitably screw it up lol

It is a pretty solid roll, and has some early on good summons all around. I hit level 14 this morning and able to use anything with a +skill is great, I have a +1 Clay Golem wand, and since I can place one point into that because of Golem Mastery can have it on the swap and Gumpy still sticks around (Even better with skill shrine!)

I'm Teeth with 3 in Skeletal Magi and 1 in any pre-req I need thus far. I placed a fair amount of point into Energy so I have more mana as I'm chugging potions quite fast.

Congrats Vang Tourny Guardians are always impressive.

Diana has made it through Act 1 and Act 2. So far not too bad, plague javelin is strong albeit slow ... I see what @Grisu meant. Decoy has been somewhat useful although normal is not too difficult.

I've been running with a Rogue Merc (Elly) because I assumed they could only use the equipment we could use. @Vang could I get clarification on that please?

I've been following the standard singlepass mf and had a few S/U drop. The most useful being a gambled deaths hand!

I've been running with a Rogue Merc (Elly) because I assumed they could only use the equipment we could use. @Vang could I get clarification on that please?

The merc has the same equipment limitations as you _except_ the weapon. I missed that rule earlier on too
