Random Tournament 2021 D2R edition!

@Grisu I lock set 78 as forever skillset.

If I got it right: one skillset forever, and others to be used throughout, right?

So the plan could be as follows:
Forever
78 -> 3,15,29 -> Defiance, Concentration, Holy Shield
Normal
70 -> 11,16,28 -> Might, Holy Freeze, Conversion
Nightmare
71 -> 9,19,25 -> Redemption, Fanaticism, Charge
Hell
86 -> 6, 7, 26 -> Resist Lightning, Vigor, Vengeance
96 -> 17,21,22 -> Holy Shock, Sacrifice, Smite

Am I right?

@Babyhell: Sounds about right!

I will probably go like this:

Forever:
33 -> 2, 8, 29 -> Raise Skeleton, Iron Golem, Decrepify

Normal:
58 -> 2, 5, 13 -> Raise Skeleton, Skeletal Mage, Poison dagger

Nightmare:
83 -> 4, 25,28 -> Golem mastery, Iron maiden, Attract

Hell:
34 -> 1, 8, 22 -> Skeleton Mastery, Iron Golem, Dim vision
14 -> 21,22,26 -> Amplify damage, Dim vision, Confuse

This way I have low powered Skellies for Normal, which is enough. Then a big Iron Golem with some underpowered Skellies in NM, when better items for Iron Golem become available. And then in Hell some better crowd control with confuse, a way to break PIs and Skellies with Skeleton Mastery.

I am open for suggestions on skill progression though. :)

Looks good @Grisu

Updated main post with more clarified rules (note that skill sets can be used or saved) I'll be home later.

Roll me a Druid with 1x one handed weapons and 2x Polearms please. Note this character is going to be my switch one. JKing, no players 8, means no SP for me in tournament.

BleedRunner
Babyhell's Paladin

He stopped his session lvl 13 running Countess. Not sure why but it seems somehow harder in early stages, I use to go p8 at start, even without twinking, and that's a real pain... going p3 for now oO.

Sadly no need for this runeword... on her first drop!

Points are put in order to unlock Holy Shield and Holy Freeze - and one useless point put in Defiance, it's in my skillset but I could have saved it.

Finally get to get started, but boy, this is lookin' ugly. Just to clarify, you do not get 1 point in pre-req skills automatically, right? If you don't roll the pre-reqs you can't take a skill (and can lose skills when changing difficulty if you lose their pre-reqs)?

Would appreciate a reroll for my druid of:
Skill Set - 100
Armor - Light
Weapon - Double-Axe

No you can place one point in any pre-req skill, just can't actively use it. (Example I have Dire Bear and no other summon skills, I can place 1 in all the pre-reqs and max da bear if I choose too.

Skill: 52
Armor: 2
Weapon: Hand Axe

Ok, well that changes my prospects considerably then! I was looking at having no usable skills except Arctic Blast & Cyclone Armor thinking, damn, this tourney is even harder than I thought. :) Gonna re-evaluate then update the table.

Thx for the rerolls Vang, do you want me to do your rerolls? And thx Grisu for the rolls - sorry I couldnt stay online to do your rolls.

Brisket the Druid
Forever Skillset: 07
Normal Skillset: 52
NM Skillset: 32?

Placing a place marker here. I’ll need a roll soon but not for another week at least as work occupies +80% of my time.

OK, I have tried to understand the rules (and TL;DR), but I'm a bit confused. Maybe the best way is for someone to roll me a Character and we explain from there? Do we get to choose class?

@maxicek you can choose your class or go completely random.

Can someone roll me a completely random character

Jcake's Random Amazon

Skill sets:

Set 5: 1,20,23 -> Jab, Pierce, Cold Arrow
Set 7: 4,16,25 -> Impale, Penetrate, Exploding Arrow
Set 27: 7, 12, 29 -> Plague Javelin, Critical Strike, Immolation Arrow
Set 47: 15,16,20 -> Avoid, Penetrate, Pierce
rerolled to Set 82: 1, 3,30 -> Jab, Poison Javelin, Freezing Arrow
Set 50: 5,16,28 -> Lightning Bolt, Penetrate, Strafe

Weapons:
Short Bow -> Long War Bow
Long Bow
Javelin
Reflex Bow

(not sure if I got this right - I rolled to decide randomly, if Bow or Javelins get x2 instead of only x1, then rolled for all class-specific weapons mingled together @Vang: Please correct me, if was wrong in this assumption)

Armor:
Great Helm -> Skull Cap
Armor 1
Bone Shield
Heavy Gloves
Chain Boots
Heavy Belt

This looks tough! Strafer? Immolation Arrow?

Any rerolls?

I'll go for a random barb then please someone.
maxicek's Random Barbarian

Skill sets:

Set 18: 10,16,21 -> Battle Command, Spear Mastery, Bash
Set 31: 1,7,17 -> Howl, Battle Orders, Increased Stamina
Set 22: Taunt, Battle Command, Bash
Set 42: 7,11,15 -> Battle Orders, Sword Mastery, Throwing Mastery
Set 43: 11,12, 30 -> Sword Mastery, Axe Mastery, Berserk
Set 59: 26,27,29 -> Leap Attack, Concentrate, Whirlwind

Weapons:
Broad Sword
Flamberge
Spiked Club
Axe

Armor:
Skull Cap
Armor 2 (Hard Leather Armor, Studded Leather Armor, Chain Mail, Plate Mail, Ancient Armor)
Kite Shield
Light Gauntlets
Heavy Boots
Light Belt
Jawbone Cap

Any rerolls? And since you weren't sure about the rules:

Items: You are only allowed to use the items rolled above (and their exceptional and elite versions - item quality (normal, socketed, magical etc.) doesn't play a role in this, only the base item). You are allowed to reroll one weapon and one armor piece though (e.g. Spiked Club would be rerolled to another one-handed weapon - could be anything from that table for one-handed weapons)

Skills:
You choose one set of skills that you can use in all difficulties.

The other 4 sets you can only use for one difficulty each. You can distribute them evenly or choose to use all sets for one difficulty). Skills not in your skill sets for the current difficulty can't be used and you can't put points into them (except if it is a prereq for an allowed skill of yours)

In your case you could say, you want to use set 59 through all difficulties.
You could then e.g. use set 42 for Normal (in addition to the skills from set 59), Set 18 for NM (again in addition to the skills from set 59) and sets 31 and 43 for Hell (again in addition to the skills from set 59). But you could also say you use all sets for normal difficulty and then try NM and Hell with only set 59 which you chose to be available for all difficulties.

Also, you are allowed to reroll one set of skills.

Question about respec in D2R...

Is respec from Akara allowed? Is this mandatory before changing difficulty in order to drop skills you can no longer use, meaning it would need to be saved until just before you went to the next difficulty? IIRC, they also added ways to respec your character (by paying gold or an item I think) beyond just the Den of Evil unlock. Is that allowed? I couldn't find anything addressing that in the SPF Current Version rules or the tourney rules.

1. Respec - Is respec from Akara allowed? Respecs have to be saved to reset your skills for the next difficulty. An exception would be if you chose no additional set of skills for Normal besides your "Forever skill set" - then I guess you could probabyl just leave your skill points - the question is if you'd want that xD

Other than that there is only the token of absolution - you need the Essences from the Hell versions of Andariel/Duriel, Mephisto, Diablo and Baal). Since you need Baal's Essence it is probably not possible to do this in the tournament, because after defeating Hell Baal, you already completed the tournament :)
