question about Schaefer's Hammer

question about Schaefer's Hammer

I found a Legendary Mallet while MFing a few days ago and decided not to ID it. I assumed it was Schaefer's but wasnt sure because I never owned one. Anyway, I checked battle.net and there are 2 Legendary Mallets. Is there any way to tell which one I have for trading purposes? I'd like to keep it un-ID'd for trading but would like to know which one I have. Thanks in advance!

Schaeffers is industructable and only very special items like Ethereal Edge are both ethereal and industructable. Actually, I think Eth Edge is the only eth + indructable item.
 
Ok, well it's not ethereal so I guess it could be either one! So does IDing it lose any trade value? Or is Schaefer's such a good item that it really doesnt matter? Thanks guys!
 
u should prob id it..and other eth indestructible items includes ghostflame legend spike and wraith flight ghostglaive

Hmmm, very good question. Trade value of items in the caliber of Schafer's is pretty damn high especially when you get close to perfect ED. If I were you I'd try to get an uppraisal before you ID it. If you can get a decent rune or an item you're looking for then you don't have to ID it. It will be the buyers risk to find out whether it is a Shafer's or not. But if you think you're gonna be lucky and you're gonna get a high ED Shafer's, go ahead an ID it. You will definitely have a higher trade value for a Schafer's than an UNID one but lesser value if you end up with Stone Crusher.
 
I always thought that if it could be two items you would only be able to trade for the worth of the cheaper item. It is like having an unid unique ring. most likely it is poop, but it could be a soj.


thats the way I think of it when I am trading. others could be different.
 
The only real reason you'd want to leave it as unid, is if you have obsessive compulsive disorder and love seeing unid items (like me :D ).

Just like no one on ladder will trade for an unid-ed phase blade, no one will trade for an unid-ed legendary mallet. No one wants to take a chance that the item will turn out to be the worse legendary mallet (stone crusher is too slow for anything but a charger) when they are trading for it.
