Thank you Liquid_Evil for keeping the event and for Thyiad for hosting it. Fun event. It went quite differently than I was expecting. When the Red team had their fortress up, there was little me and Doomas could do, other than sit back and have me spam Guided Arrows towards them. Charging in was a suicide, even for Doomas' big barb. Gladly Sint was able to penetrate the fortress via surgical strikes.

I'm sure I looked like a bitter assclown concerning the holy bolt healing, but breaks in clearly posted rules are garbage, especially ones we've talked about so I just don't buy that you didn't know it was a rule (and then later, that you knew but forgot). I think I'll probably just manage the next challenge rather than playing them so I can deal with that kind of crap unbiased and accordingly next time around. And I don't want a reply to this saying 'it was only a few bolts, don't get bent out of shape.' A breach in the rules is cheating plain and simple. I consider it terrible form. It's your job as a participant in these things to know and understand the few rules set forth at the beginning of these events.

I'm sorry. I really didn't remember us agreeing on the Holy Bolt ban until it was too late. I also failed to notice the Holy Bolt ban on the rules, as I just briefly glanced at them, assuming there's nothing out of the ordinary anyway.

At the time when I came up with the idea of healing with Holy Bolt, I didn't remember if it was banned or not, so I childishly just assumed it was allowed, partly because of being blinded by the idea's "greatness"(I gave in to the dark side). Then IIRC Sint checked the rules and said it's banned, then I was quite confused and felt guilty. I felt like I had given in to the dark side, as I was ready to go on like nothing had happened, "maybe they didn't notice". From now on I'll try more to go with the safer, "good" choice if I'm uncertain of something. Also I should have read the rules thoroughly.

Liq, I understand that you have the right to be angry at me. I think I broke the game's flow for you at least temporarily because of that stupid and childish decision and I'm sorry for that. I hope that the trust you may have had to me doesn't go down the drain with this.

I should have probably said that to Liq in a PM, but I wanted to explain it even a little bit to all of you who now know about it, even though any amount of explanation doesn't make me any less guilty in this case.

Moral of the story: The Dark Side is tempting, but do not give in to it, you will regret it sooner or later.

Edit: The issue was dealt with via MSN and it got pretty much a happy ending. :flowers: :wink2: :jig:

I got a PM about my set up and realised I forgot to post it.

Bill the lightning sorc.

10 smallcharms with life (and some mana)

Prebuff:
+3 lightning amulet
+3 lightning circlet
+3 ES ormus
+9 ES Memory
+Chilling armor staff
Harlequin Crest for buffing CA and BO (but BO wasn't necesary)

With this setup, Doom's BO and my own Oak (from HotO) I reached 2k life and 4k mana with a level 40 ES.
I also hit a 6-27k lightning and a 1-9k CL. Both pretty lethal. A pure lightning sorc would get better numbers, but ES really saved my bum.
Skills were pretty standard: 20 TK, 20 lightning, 20 CL, 16 CB, 16 LM, 8 ES, 1 Teleport, 1 Warmth.

I like to thank Thy for hosting, but not only hosting this event but also for my leveling. I'm sure some of you saw me in your Baal running games under the name ''Evi''. I introduced myself as ''Mungo'', Thy's friend. Thanks for keeping that sceme up so I could level properly without worrying that the red team would find out that I'd bring a lightning sorc.

Yes, it was a surprising loss and I'm partly in shock. With all the range on my team, I figured we would be quite gg. The sorc was again just too much to handle. Sint has really opened my eyes to the power of that class when coupled with Insight, etc. (Looks like mine [87] is in for some leveling). They especially shine in team duels and it was again, clearly the power char. Energy Shield ftw. Hats off to a well-played strategy with the renaming of your char and Meteor castings. It was quite clever. I can't speak for the rest of my team, but I was indeed prepared for fire the first round.

Good read, sounds like it was another fun challenge in the Moor. Why was Holy Bolt banned by the way? Was it due to the fact that in a team environment Denton could have followed Sint or Doomas around permanently healing them, getting around the caps on life regeneration?

Any ideas for the next challenge LE? Or is this the point where you need to start taking inspiration from other sources?
