Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Got 6m gold in about an hour from killing bots.
I basically use two techniques now.
1) Type the max amount of "....." and hostile.Go to chaos and kill.
2) Hostile first,go near them in chaos, type max amount of "...." and kill.
I use number 1 when I know I'm dealing with the "chicken" bots. Also some bots drop a lot faster than others so #1 doesn't always work.

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Made a bliz sorc dedicated to bot killing, got a 6++ hour temp ban :<

A hint to those who have the same problem: if you have 2 cd keys, swap them from time to time, should make it less likely to happen

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Wait, you got banned for killing bots? I'm confused. Killing other players (albeit bots) shouldn't result in a ban, let alone one that long.

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Nono, Temp ban isn't the same thing as being banned. It was a lazy attempt from blizzard to stop bots when they were quite new. Entering too many games in a short period of time makes bnet lock you out. Very annoying thing that only affects legit players (bots can be programmed to make just the amount of games per hour that won't get you banned).

When I'm bot hunting I go kill Nihl and/or some other things before getting the next one.

Keep to max 20 games per hour before either switching to your other set of cd-keys or taking a little break. When I'm baalrunning (legit channel with very fast runs), the cd-key change every 20 games is what keeps the temp ban at bay.

By the way, I must compliment Incubator-Jones for making a new char just for the sake of bot killing :D

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

i managed to get my first one killed last night :D very impressive, however it doesnt seem to affect some of the bots,

following this i managed to get 2 bots one was a sorc and one a hdin at the same time, did the ............ thing when the doom knight seal guys with fanaticism spawned, bye bye bots :D

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Oh I understand temp-banning and all that jazz, it's just I didn't realize it could result in 6+ hours of it. The most I've had is an hour.

It's usually not that long, but you can get really nasty temp bans. Think my record is 10+ hours when hunting dia clone a bit to fast. Went to bed after that. No idea what controls how long you are locked out though.

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

I had 2 one hours before that, so that was strike three. I favor the ... method usually since it crashes the bot program. I was harrassing someone yesterday and he made the games private. Then I cracked his pass :D

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Found out two new things.

A bot killed me and I stayed in the death screen. It just teled around me so I afkd there >:3

Also a strategy for killing aggressive bots: spam Blizzard on top of you and wait for them to tele stomp

It looked rather funny in channel this morning since we looked the same and had same lvl.

I'm changing setup tho! To a superior setup I may add :jig:

Oh, super compliment for you!

I sense a bot kill competition vs you two

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Usually I don't mind as it provides me free gear but people that kill the bot and the other players make me rage.
I wouldnt mind ganking the spam bots though.

Providing free gear as in the bots picking up all items of value instantly, while leaving the stuff that can fetch you a handful of pgms at most?

I can guarantee that running with other legit players will even out the playing field and give you a better chance of picking up the good stuff, while also meeting some nice people.

And as a note: When I'm bot killing I never go after the players following the bot. I hostile before they are partied so that the bot is the only one who is in danger. Once the bot is dead, I join a party with the other players and finish the run for them.

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Im not to picky when I'm doing runs I do get some good drops 60% of the time but if I want to find items I would MF with my sorc.

Usually I run with bots that are to level its not really any skin off my back.

This is not necessarily true, I've gotten lucky and beaten the pick-it many times by just clicking like a madman at the item pile. It all depends on what connection the bot has I guess.

I've also seen bots leave unid Shakos on the ground and sell high runes to vendors. lol

Try horking gold with a gold find barb in a Diarun and you will know excactly what I mean. The bot teleports from two screens away and picks up gold before your eyes can even register that it is on the floor. Even if you have your mouse pointer on the exact spot where the gold will appear, you won't grab it even half of the times. I don't even want to think about how many HRs the bots pick up before the human players can even see they are there.

Sure, some bots are poorly configured and sell good stuff to NPC:s, many leave Shakos on the ground just because they aren't worth enough to bother. Sometimes the bot is probably busy picking up something else.

You can pick up some stuff if you are lucky. But the odds are not in your favor.

Same goes for getting xp. Legit runs when done right are far superior when it comes to leveling (especially noticable when you get to 93+). Plus, it's more fun to play with people who actually say more than "TP up!"

By joining bot runs the bots get better loot and more xp. Let the bots play for themselves, struggling with the magic immune wave 2, with mediocre rewards as a result. Try finding some legit players (still many out there) and play with them, get better xp, even the playing field with drop pickups and have more fun.

Did I mention I dislike bots? :whistling:

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

how to mess with leechers ........................ or other message doesnt seem to stop them.

Re: Project BotEars - A bot killing guide

Works on some of them. Try with other symbols and characters as some seem to have blocked the dots.

any way to take advantage of this? leechers usually wait for message to enter tp. But when I attempt to open a trade screen with them it seems to prevent them from going into tp. The only problem is when runner leaves game they still follow.

So basically every run I can prevent them from going into tp but not much else.
