Random musings:
Twinkle_Toes is not the only one who is weeping. I had planned to use Twinkle_Toes as the Barbarian segment of my Grief Sept. I had recently completed Celaena the Assassin, and I’d remembered that I’d done a ItsDaWoolof the Werewolf, which I thought was my Druid done. I was deep into Act 3 Hell with Twinkle_Toes, when I thought I’d check how many other D2R characters I had completed using Grief and I got a bit of a surprise: ItsDaWoolof was a Wolfbarb! So, let’s talk about totally unnecessary Grief-wielding Barbarian.
If I had not gone back and read how fantastic ItsDaWoolof was, I would have said that Twinkle_Toes was a great build. I didn’t have any real problems with him other than the usual Mana management early on, as Whirlwind started to become the main skill used. Until Whirlwind became available, Bash was my go-to attack skill and it was more than sufficient as I pumped up Sword Mastery. The addition of Bloodletter and Upped Bloodletter, when they became available, comfortably took me all the way to Grief at level 59.
I used Leap Attack more as a transport skill rather than an attack skill, but it did do some nice damage when it connected. The usual attack routine was to Leap Attack in and start whirling and it simply didn’t fail me. The thing with LA is that it leaves my merc in the dust and he seemed to take forever to catch up. That’s when I decided to add War Cry to the mix. Its small radius and slow casting rate meant that it didn’t deserve any more than one hard point, though. I had a few options for my remaining skill points, but in the end, I just put them into Shout for the extra defence.
The unnecessary Barbarian played well and was enjoyable enough but I’m a bit cross with myself for not remembering that I already had a Barb under my belt. Age, I suppose. And why was Twinkle_Toes weeping? Because of the Grief, of course!
