OT - Your most memorable video games of all time?

Larask said:
I loved the Creatures games on the Commodore 64. They were rather... Sick and twisted.

Clyde Radcliffe has to be like, *the* best game character ever, love the tar btw..

Creatures 1 was awesome, never managed to complete that game, still got the original boxed up with snippings from c64 mags for walkthrough parts, and those boss sections, how could you not love those (converyor belt + circular saw = GORE!) ;)

Creatures 2 was so so for me, the whole bouncing things around to save them wasnt my cup of tea, but it made for some interesting deaths :D

Thalamus made the best games.. remeber the Summer Camp and Winter Camp games? WC had a guest appearance by none other than Mr. Radcliffe himself dont ya know! Now what was that characters name.. never remember him.

You ever get to play Mayhem in Monsterland? that game was so cool, better graphics than sonic, and he ran faster too, iirc one of if not the only game to ever get 100% rating on the c64..

Memories are awesome.

Wow, 80+ posts and no one's mentioned Starcraft yet? Unbelievable! Among other things, I see Starcraft as the mother of l33t-sp34k (the movie "Hackers" would be the alcoholic, inattentive father), and it's practically the Korean national sport. :) Few people would dispute it as the best RTS ever, and it gets my vote as the best computer game ever.

Other games that don't get mentioned enough:
Tetris - so simple, yet so addicting; the Russian student who came up with the idea never got the proper credit for it either

Resident Evil - seems almost intolerably cheesy by today's standards, but when the original first came out on Playstation it was huge; probably the first game to make videogames "cool" to the mainstream

FF7 - there are better RPG's out there, but FF7 is probably the most famous of them all and has what is likely the most memorable scene (Sephiroth in the flames at Nibelhelm)

Street Fighter 2 - the game that gave birth to the fighting game industry; the franchise is still going strong today and has a huge player base, even after approximately 8051203471075017 incarnations, each with another superlative added onto the title.

Monkey Island 1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"the monkeys are listening" (mi3)

i started playing quest games (kings, space and heroes quest at a friends home)

then, got a pc in grade 6 (i think) and monkey island with it!!!! my 1st game on the pc, and also the one that i love the most, and will always do so. i have mi1, 2, 3 and 4 now.

also spent countless hours on discworld 1+2, ultima 7, civilization, heroes 1 and 2 (lately 3 and 4), warcraft 1+2, doom1+2.
plus many other classics that i cant think of now.

just realised today that i have secret of mana (one of the many roms on my harddrive).
