OT: The Kingdom of Loathing

Does anyone else play this game?

The Kingdom of Loathing

For those that don't, it is a free web-based MMORPG (sort of). It is kinda like a spoof on WoW and the like. The graphics are stick figures, but the game is incredibly in-depth. I have been playing for about 2 weeks now, and I am hooked. You only get a set amount of "adventures" per day, so if you are worried about getting involved with another game it kind of limits you to 20 or so minutes per day. You can stretch that into much longer if you want.

I am fascinated by the game, and just wanted to share what I have found. If you play, or decide to try it, send me a message in game.

I've tried that one, but never managed to get really hooked. Couldn't make much sense of it, but that's probably because I didn't try hard enough. I know a few others around here regularly play it though.

Slightly OT: www.lotgd.net is another web-RPG with limited time per day. Even less graphics than KoL, though.
 
Used to play KoL. Eventually "beat" the game with the turtles, continued on over as a chef, I think, but couldn't beat the final castle again w/o the turtles special power. Been a few years since I played, so I don't remember all the terms and stuff. I should revisit, since at that time they were adding more and more stuff to the game, and they probably continued to do so.
 
I played it briefly last winter, mostly at school as something to do in between class (a friend in the HC forum told me about it I believe). It seemed interesting but I never got very far simply because it was a bad time for me and games, I was trying to prioritize school over games.

I've played a lot of KOL way back. I stopped after the big server problems which whiped out the accension boards. I was quite high up there.

Anyway, why I'm posting. There was a SPF clan around last time I checked and it might still be. Water_moon was running it then, I believe. Worth checking out.
 
I just had to log on and my character still exists. Fun, but I shall resist the urge of it taking over my life again. :smiley:
 
Yup, it's still there, accension has moved to lvl 13 for those of you used-to-play's and SPF still has a clan, named-- SPF. There are even a few folks who hang out in the clan chat channel and we have a decent set of equipment. [/end advert]

I'm water_moon in game (how original...) and if any one from around here wants to join clan SPF, pm me and apply and I'll get you in and set up in no time. (What moar didn't say was that she donated a bunch of goodies and so did Sint when he decided to leave the game so you get a GPoaS for joining.)

ps. to those who are in the clan but haven't been by in a while, there was a security breach at the KoL forums and password changes are recomended if your KoL pass was the same as your forum pass. I moved inactives to a new rank to prevent looting but your charater can still be looted.

My character looked in fine shape and i had never registered for the forums. What's the current richdom at KOL? I looked around a bit and I still seem to have some goodies. (It was ridiculously high after the server crash(es) and another reason to stop playing for me). I still have those Crimbo stockings from years ago. :wink3:



 
the crimbo stocking would be... valuable.

There have been several dozen meat sinks of late so the wealth level is a little more normal. BTW, if you have warpping paper or the crimbo hat or pants the clan is trying to collect all the outfits.

edit: and I'll fix moar's and Sinamei's rank back now

Moar is retired forever. I stripped her and have also no recollection of the password.

Sinamei is the only "active one" i have left.

I just went in and checked. No I don't have the crimbo stuff. I wasn't around that christmas and they were always to expensive to buy. They were on sale for together 30M now. That seems quite cheap to me compared to what they costed before. How badly do you want them? :smiley:

EDIT: Ok, I bought them. It's not that I am playing actively, so what shall I sit around with all the meat. Shall I just deposit them in the stash or are you collecting them on a personal account?

EDIT2: Saw the Sword in the stash, so I deposited Hat and Pants there as well. Please take them out if that was wrong.
*sigh* EDIT3: I'm going to take out some items from the stash to look at their desription. I'll put them back in. I haven't played for a long time and i'm curious about the new things. :)
