I used to get around 5-6 hours a day when i played d2 now that i quit though and im constantly running around doing stuff i need about 7 hours.

Ok, so I got this email from my 5 yr old nephew (who can use the internet btw).

To: Wil
From: Caleb
RE: I got your money

I really want to you to buy a playstation 2 for me. They are so fun. I like yours. Everytime I see it, I will ask you if I can play it. I promise to wash my hands before I play it every time.

Love, Caleb

When Caleb was traveling with me he saw me playing gladius and I let him make his own saved game. He beat the first act by himself but tends to get lost exploring the world map.

Anyhow, whatcha think? Should I buy it for him?

True, but Caleb is pretty smart. He can read just about anything (he can read the old testament correctly, which impressed me) and he can beat a lot of computer games by himself. He beat age of empires 2 by himself.

He is 5, dont corrupt him with games and such. Let him be a five year old and enjoy his childhood playing with toys and action figures and pretending to be power rangers (or what ever they do now) with his friends. his life should be an adventure with him running around outside and having fun. Not teaching him to be hidden away in the dark corner of his house playing some games.

i second that.
i couldnt have said it any better.

Ya, I think 5 would probably be too young for most games...though does anyone remember Teasure Mountain and Reader Rabbit I must have started them fairly early

My kids not getting a system until he's at least 12. There's too much good stuff being missed outside.

Guys, even weirder situation surrounding the move. Will fill in in future... but still won't be around for a while. No clue how long.

Dang TBay!! 2-0

damn you alain! Stick moved east, and he plays pvm so you can now have a nice little friend to play with. That and, I dont really know, I just need someone to stalk.

2-0? Damnit! I left the room and they score. My picture wont be happy :(
(I have the front page of the Hearld newspaper back when the flames won it a bunch of years ago. "Dream come true at last for Lanny." Its watching the game with me)

The truth, for real. I don't see getting my kids video games and computer games at all, or atleast severly limiting them. I'd much rather have my kid do something with a bit more interaction or a bit more physical movement.

Interesting.

You all say this, and yet you are all obviously hard core computer game players and very likely play computer games rather than go outside and play or do something active or social in your own free time (at least a good block of it, obviously everyone does some of each).

Why is this?

Garb I think you should already know the anwser to this. We are not 5 years old. No matter how much any of us may seem like it sometimes we are not. We have all gone through and done the whole young childish 5 year old carefree junk. Having fun with friends and spending the night at their houses. And going out and wearing capes and thinking we have powers. Now the youngest one here is probaly me at 16, and that is still 11 years off from 5. However, I did not even start playing any form of games seriously till I was about 12. Sure I played the occasion game, but in the end I always opted to go outside and enjoy myself.

However, your nephew obviously idolizes you in some way doesnt he? He therefore wants to be like you and enjoy the same things you do. However, what is a kindergarter doing playing battle.net and slaying monsters while everyone else is out doing t-ball and finger painting? You should encourage him to go do things, take him to see a ballgame and do junk like that. Dont force a hermit lifestyle on a kid who does not know the aftermath of giving up his childhood so he can make virtual friends and sit alone all the time. In the end, we made the choices for ourselves, not because we have someone 20 years older than us who we loved to spend time with and wanted to be just like him.

im 16 O_o

garbad you're a bad influence

even i go outside and hang around with my friends once in a while..and i dont play compter games 24/7
