OT: PD2: Everyone Makes Mistakes

I've heard if a child watches TV/video games at an early stage he/she has higher chance of getting A.D.D. when they grow up..

PS2 = Overstimulation for a 5 year old child.

You may as well give the boy some weed...

If you must buy him a "video game console" of some sort, give him a Gameboy Advance or something, at less he can still take it around and show his real life friends.

Let his parents decide something like that. I've got a feling that he's asked them and they've said no, so he's asking you. You cannot monitor or control his usage of it, nor will you have to put up will it. I'd say the most you should do is let his parents know that he really wants a PS2. Its their job to decide whether or not he gets one and how much time he is allowed to spend on it.

I don't think he shouldn't have a PS2, I just don't think your the one who should be getting it for him.

Just the fact that a 5 year old can already use the internet,write e-mails and such,makes me vote against it.

He's five years old,for gods sake! I'm with DOC on this one,although the mail is somewhat nice.. :O



btw. got only one hour of school this morning,which I'm skipping,so I go to school in the afternoon ,at 1 PM just for 2 hours of French and 1 hour of physics.

So does everyone else. 3 hours a day gaming is pretty hard core but that still leaves 5 hours a day after a 8 hour workday and 8 hours sleep.

BTW, I decided to own the thread at 5k posts. I might start deleting the old OT threads to discourage spamming.

I think a lot of people said not to buy him the consul because they are in fact addicted to battle.net (video games) and wish they werent thus trying to discourage you from allowing another poor soul to put an ivy of gaming into his arm.

Have you not noticed all the post that says D2 is so addictive its ruining my life !!! do you want to do that to a 5 year old?

Also using the internet at 5 is kinda impressive but soon most 5 year olds will be doing it because of the huge impact the internet has on the world.

You do realize you're in the druid forum where almost no one actually games right? I mean, there was every so often where I'd play dii for more than just a couple hours, but even at my "peek" I never really averaged more than an hour a day. I played Gunbound for like what, 2 weeks? Those are the only games I've ever played online. I think a lot of the druid forum is very similar. Most of us are not "hardcore gamers" Wil. I never chose to play diablo over going out and doing something social and I doubt anyone here did either.
