After six months dabbling in MXL.......

IT'S UPDATE TIME AGAIN:

P & M amazon bites the dust. Armed with a 35 lvl Valk, an "Obedience" Might merc, maximum block and D-A-E >60%, it was a very safe, if not exciting, build. I used Javelins for versatility; sometimes thrown, sometimes melee and sometimes just IS every thing in sight and sit back an contemplate the meaning of the universe.

I love keeping up with this project! Such a big undertaking, I can scarce imagine it. Once I've got more twinking items (runes, in particular, elude me) I think I'd like to try something like this!

For the curses-only necro, the merc will probably be the main focus and damage dealer. I think it will not be that bad. For Ancients, I would use an amulet/circlet with teleport charges, so your merc won´t need to tank all three at one time. Equip him with a damaging weapon and a good amount of Crushing Blow. Constant Life Tap on them should be able to keep him alive.

Another variant for a curses-only necro would be something I had alot of success with in a tounament (until Hell Mephisto shoved two quick Lightning at me before I could close the distance): a Slow-Mo-Jomancer. This necro had maxed block (Rhyme in a shield with good base block), a General´s unique flail, a couple of cold damage sources and tanked monsters for his rogue merc, keeping the close enemies Decrepified (and the distant enemies Dimmed).

Either way, you need some corpse destruction skill on wand/necro head. Preferrably CE, of course. (The second variant could have this on the weapon switch.)

Actually I was thinking of doing this after I had infinity, now I see you have a head start Anyway I have started up with doing a pure Bow&Cross... did you find Freezing arrow to chessy or why didn´t you go by that (mine does 2k dmg)

Well, another one bites the dust.

My "Passion" Enchantress becomes a Matriarch after many frustrating hours of play. Putting the RW into a sword looked a great idea, but the 25% flee had me pulling out what's left of my hair on numerous occasions. She was ably backed up with a Burra and maxed hydras. And a final thought to leave you with, 800 odd HP are not really enough for a melee build, even with maxed block and resists.

Well, no 1.13 so I'm gonna keep doing these builds. :crazyeyes:

I went for an easy one this time, a lightning trapper. I maxed all the lightning skills and enough FB to get 10 shots out of DS plus an average of about 2000 point of fire damage. Four LS followed by a DS killed just about everything in sight. With damage of 1 - 6500ish LS wiped the floor with anyone who came close. LI were pummeled by FB & DS. An honourable mention must be made to Shock Web, 1 - 2500ish damage per second and 19 spikes, yummy. It was a walk in the park. All the assassins are done now. :thumbup:

After a brief pause to work my way through a backlog of homework, another one to tick off.

My single tree Combat Barb, Dust_Devil, was not as easy as I expected it to be. He was an IK Whirler/Conc Barb with maxed Zerk, but he was adept at finding new and unusual ways of dying. Gee, I'm glad he's finished.

Just one question about your Mastery Barb. How did you get the Frenzy skill? From a barb helm? (maybe you already answer that but I didn't read the whole thread) Other possibility would be Fury runeword but that would cost a Jah!!

I suggest you put a link to the write-up's. That would be nice to check out the builds (ok, I'm lazy to try to find those in the Mat/pat thread )

Back to the single tree grind (1.12) - but another to cross off. Flinger the lightning javazon makes Matriarch. As one would expect no trouble fighting non-LI, only a minor inconvenience fighting LI with Fend and a HF merc with a Reaper's. Maxed Fend, PS, CS & LS. I've got 9 unassigned points, I might make her a cow runner by adding Decoy and Pierce. I need to find a few nice grays to finish off the rest of these builds.

Nicely done! The javazon seems like one of the most manageable ones on the list.

I suspect the grays you are hoping for include good weapons with staffmods for your aura-only paladins.

Another one gone, sort of. I've finally fixed that gaping wound of the 1.09 single tree shapeshifter with Fido - a fury/feral rage werewolf armed with a shaeled and upped Ribby.

Ever had a character that was cursed? I mean truly cursed? One would think that a character with 3200 odd hit points, scads of damage done very quickly and top notch hit recovery would be a walk in the park. Wrong. He was under amp damage what seemed like half the time and EVERY, well a hell of a lot, of packs were mana drain. On an utter frustration level he was up with the worst I've ever played.
