Ramblings
Each difficulty took about 3.5 hours to finish, including picking up the important waypoints and quests/rewards. Problems arose only on three individual occasions.

1) Hell Chaos Sanctuary: Iron Maiden wasn't even the killer. Elemental damage totally tore apart my merc... Eventually, I just clicked on the seals ASAP, spammed, and fled. Static/Telekinesis took down Lord de Seis, and Diablo was a cakewalk.

2) Hell Froven River: ...Otherwise known as CI central. Patience is obviously not my virtue. I let Frozenstein and crew chase Nayuki around for a minute or two, and subsequently teleported back to Anya for the quest. ^^;.

3) Hell Ancients: I don't like rerolling my Ancients... which ended up being a problem. The Leap Attack user ended up being CI, and my merc couldn't touch him because he was constantly in the air. I ended following my merc around and fleeing when the guy jumped. My merc would get one hit in, and the guy would jump again. -_-'. Rinse and repeat for a while... and voila. WSK entrance granted.

Future Plans
1) HF rushing. The original plan was for CTA, but time is running out. A HotO would be equally useful though. I need 10 more FCR for the 86 breakpoint, and the extra resist could free up a slot in my Moser's for an Eld rune (the 10 Dexterity helps too).

2) MF Pentathalon. I built this sorceress more carefully than usual in order to prepare for that darn thing. FHR is still a bit of a problem though.

the Hellforge gave me crap (Pul IIRC)
the only troubles i've had with her: when fighting those cold immune oblivion knights in the CS and hell witches (?) in the crystaline passage and WSK.
i've been told that the Ancients would give me troubles...but they was easy as pie. The two non-cold immune fell fairly easy (and i didnt get too much damage, i was teleporting in circles around them). The cold immune one went down to the power of my merc. I've continuously pushed him back against a pillar, and my merc's job was easy.
This was initialy planned to be a Tal Rasha's BLizzSorc...but my struggle and efforts to find the amulet were in vain. I was wearing the set (except for the amulet of course) till i've found Shako and Skullder's (both found when running Meph).
My first weapon (at lvl 30) was a wonderful rare orb, with +2 to all skills, %20 FCR, +1 to Blizzard, +2 to CM, some life and mana.
And obviously, i went vita way rather than max block.

Introduction

So I came to realize that even though I have played more hours with my blizzsorc than with any other character I had never matted a pure blizz sorc. That has now changed.

This project has two purposes:
1) test a blizzsorc for Larzuk rushing
2) mat a pure blizzsorc

This report will consider both of the above so my apologies for a rather long post.

Larzuk rushing
I did some Larzuk rushing with a Hexfire wielding enchantress prior to this as the synergy between warmth, teleport and enchant should be good. Besides that a sorc spends the first of her years as a melee sorc. She did clear A1-A3 rather fast but she lost quite a lot of steam in A4. Besides that she did not have many places to efficient level much above 18 due to her innate weakness.
With my poor skill (and not enough twink gear at that point in time) she ended up completing a rush in 2h50m which was quite a bit slower than my initial target of 2h15m. Now it was time to see if Denali could beat that time.

Denali started her life with a bunch of +str charms, a 6os crystal sword with envy jewels along with a breast plate and mask filled with envies.
At lvl6 she changed into full Sigon's and gave armor and mask to the rogue.
At lvl18 she changed into Angelic's + a mask of sapphires which she basically wore until Shenk was defeated.
Her timings were as follows:
A1 cleared @ 50m lvl 17.6 (p8 until andy)
A2 cleared @ 69m lvl 24.2 (p8 until canyon) Drank MANY MANY blue pots
A3 cleared @ 19m lvl 24.8 (pure tele)
A4 cleared @ 11m lvl 25.6
Shenk cleared @ 1m
Total time used: 2h30m

Definitely closer to 2h15m than the telenchanter. I could have improved her performance but doing two things.
1)Invest in energy mid game. With the life boost from Angelic's she doesn't need that much vita. I however did not want to respec her later on so I didn't pursue this.
2) Likewise a point i Static Field could have worked wonders.
Besides that I spent too much time leveling i A2. This could most definitely be optimised quite a lot.

I might do another rush with my next sorc project - blizz again for the rush there is at least 15m to be shaved of this timing rather easily and I would not be surprised if a time close to two hours is possible.

That's right! She don't really need Static Field. Crushing Blow vs. CIs are good enough. And she got more than enough -eCR to pwn anything not CI.

Missing all of the three +CSD goodies I looked elsewhere to get +CSD. The most reasonable choice for getting +CSD seemed to be full Tal's and so it came to pass. And thus she don't need CM she get's enough from the +2CM from the orb and +skills.

I initially thought that CoH+Guillame's were a better choice due the the dmg2dem, 15% DS, 35%, but most of the CI enemies are not demons and thus the 1 frame faster attack and +300% dmg from fort were better.

Totalling: 183% vs. non-immune and 115% vs. broken immunes.

Progress
After killing Shenk @ lvl 25 she spend the next four levels at Eldritch. Then she put one some leet gear and cleared the remaining quests and waypoints from the previous acts.
She killed Baal @ 42. She thus started nightmare with some skillers to boost her ridiculous damage even further. At the same time she switched to a Prayer/Insight merc.
Not too much to report about NM. Even without CM everything bowed instantly. I managed to kill her twice regardless. First time in the cathedral due to intoxication and the second time in dur2 when I cast a blizzard on some maulers. Before I got time to tele out some dolls entered the blizzard zone and died instantly taking me with them.

In A4 she swithced to the HF merc wielding infinity (though prayer/insight would probably have been better at this point in time). Just before the ancients fight she got in to her endgame gear and the three barb didn't stand a chance.
Baal's minions did not get much time to live either. My estimate is between two and five seconds. A some it came to pass that she was champion @ 73.

Hell started the hard way. Matting an infi-light sorc just before this girl I remembered how easy A1 was, so I stayed on /p8. Well, well, well about halfway to the Den I had to rethink that plan. Unbreakable CI zombies just owned my merc. Den @ /p5 was tough challenge too. Corpsefire with might was quite a challenge for my merc. /p3 from there on which was much more in line with Denali's firepower and my gaming skills.

A2 tombs were next obstacle. Not unbeatable but not a cakewalk either. Gave Fort to the merc for A3 which proved much better. From there on it was pretty smooth sailing. Anything not CI (post Infinity) was obliterated in a matter of splitseconds and my merc got the hang of the unbreakables too - sans types with knock back/stun (vipers, trashers, etc.). I had to leave a lot more fights than I normally do, either due to the merc taking too long to finish the job or getting his behind kicked in the process but she became matriarch nonetheless and without major obstacles.

Adventure:
Normal went fairly well on the /players 8 setting for this sorceress. She started off using fireball and meteor and found the damage was quite good through all of the five acts. In nightmare she wanted to try something different so she became a meteor and frozen orb sorceress. Nightmare was fun and was played with /players 8 most of the time (some of the bosses were a challenge). She didn't really get much luck for good items dropping in normal and nightmare. She built a 'Leaf' runeword staff quite early on and used that for a good chunk of the time. A peasant crown dropped at one point which she also used for a considerable amount of time. Other than that she was carrying around quite a bit of junk, but it got her through :D. Hell was only played on normal settings (/Players 1) and had quite a few challenges for her. She could deal great damage to anyone who wasn't fire immune (her frozen orb damage not the best) her only problem is that she had such poor resistances and died quite easily. Some parts were easily done and a lot of parts were quite difficult. Her teleporting skills got her into a lot of trouble and she ended up using the skill very poorly and getting herself into much trouble. The best drop she have found so far was the Shako, which came from Meph. None of the Hellforge drops were significant, but she did find an Ist (highest I've ever found) from a chest in Durance level 3 while doing Meph runs. She got most of the things she's wearing from questing, but a few things came from Meph directly. After defeating Baal, she became a pure blizzard sorceress and that is the way she would like to stay. Overall she had a great play through filled with hilarious deaths and lots of meteor showers. She will be the designated magic finder for the future to come. One last notable thing she found (my first picture upload, I hope it works):

Notes:
1. This is the project that I tried to use an Act3 Lightning merc with. Sadly, it didn't work out so well. A summary of the problems can be easily illustrated here. After consideration, I decided to be lazy and switch to an Insight+Prayer merc (with VampGaze + Fortitude), and it made a huge difference.

2. Obviously she's going to be my new LK runner. 200 FCR = 3.5 spells per second, and with Harmony + Aldur's, she also has a pretty solid foundation of FRW (I'm not sure if I'll add in a few 'Inertia' charms, or just leave my inventory empty).

3. I haven't tried her in LK yet, but here's the first decent map I was able to reroll (~15 tries). If she has mana problems (because she did for questing), I'll probably reroll something better, but if the mana is adequate with that map, I intend to keep it - getting better might turn out to be a lot of work for not much gain.

4. Here's how fast she spams GS. If you consider that's ~4000 damage per shard (~2000, doubled by CM), you realize she can really put out a lot of damage against single targets. Throw on the fact that her spell also freezes most monster's solid, and that she now has a tanking merc, and she's got safety to match that power.

5. She wasn't supposed to make Matriarch, but I initially planned to rescue Anya for the extra resists scroll. That was a bit of a challenge (Siren's spawned, and they killed the merc a few times), but she made it through fairly well. After that, I wanted to finish the FO synergy, so the Ancient's quest was completed to help reach level82. And after that, I figured I might as well see how horrible the WSK was. Except, it wasn't horrible at all, despite a not-great spawn (Lister & Achmel were both CI, and there were several large packs of OK's & Souls in the throneroom).

6. She was played as a pure GS-sorceress from Act2 (Normal). With +mana and +skill twinking gear, it was never a problem though. She made leve77 in Nightmare (on /players8), then did Countess runs (with her only 2 deaths) to get to level80 and the Arachnid's Mesh. After that she pretty much teleported through Hell, killing only the occasional boss pack or three.


Overall:
Those of you sorc-lovers with good gear should consider a spam+cold sorc someday. This is the third spamming coldsorc I've made (FrostNova & IceBolt previously), and each has their advantages. They can be rather fun (at times), and surprisingly effective. Plus, it's possible to get ~50% more damage than I have with items like Nightwing's, Ormus' Robes, and Death's Fathom, and you'd only lose a single FCR breakpoint (and some resists) in the process - do that math and you'll see they can really kick some butt, even comparing reasonably with Blizzsorcs and Orbers at times.

The Quest
I can't really say a whole lot here. All in all, this was a pretty standard sorceress build. Twinked early on with Envy gear and then a Ravenclaw, then it was pure destruction with Blizzard the rest of the way through. I did however forget how much fun Blizzard sorceresses are though. Once you start being able to pump points into Blizzard, it's amazing how quickly the damage ramps up. By the time I started Hell, my Blizzard damage was already over 4k and I leveled everything in seconds. I pretty much teleported through Hell because of all the trouble spots single tree sorceresses have. I thought about making Leaf in a staff I have stashed away, but I was too lazy :p. I quested solo up until I got to the WSK, then I MPed with Xavjr to kill Baal(I couldn't deal with the second wave of minions alone =/). I technically Mated her at level 78(which is my lowest level to finish so far), but I was too lazy to do screen caps or a write up. Oh, and since I'm sure people want to know, her current Blizzard damage is 4610 - 4863. I want experiment with gear a little though; I'm confident I can get that over 5k currently.

The Future
Pindle runs for experience, MP Baal runs, and general MFing. I built her because I felt my Blizzballer was too slow, so hopefully she's a bit faster.

The powers of cold tempted her the most, so she decided to study them first. With the motivation of exploiting the powers of winter fueled her on. She quickly defeated the three Prime Evils.

The second time she defeated Mephisto she decided it was time to look for some loot to send home to her family. She searched his lair over and over, finding great riches.

Eventually she felt she was ready to proceed and quickly went on to kill Diablo and Baal a second time. Andariel and Duriel fell for the third time shortly there after. She was back at Mephisto.

This time as well she would search his Durance of Hatred for loot, finding more riches than she'd ever imagined. And again, once she felt ready, she braved taking on Diablo for a third time.

Diablo's minions were more of a challenge than Diablo himself, but once Hazade had been properly equipped and the minions who'd figured out how to avoid her attacks were off guard, she managed to fight her way past them. Eventually taking down the prime evil himself. Hazade died multiple times in the process, but Tyreal brought him back from the dead several times.

After Diablo was dead only Baal stood left. She flew past most of the monsters outside the Worldkeep, simply because they didn't seem to be affected by her spells.

She stood before the Ancients and she challenged them, but they proved too much for her.

This defeat affected her greatly. Not knowing what to do she went back to searching for more loot inside Mephisto's chambers.

After rebuilding her self esteem she proceeded to free Anya in the Frozen river, although in reality it was more Hazade's achievement, as all the monsters were unaffected by her spells.

This was another confidence booster and she decided to try the Ancients again. After teleporting around outside the entrance to the Worldstone Keep for what felt like ages two of the ancients were defeated. The last was taken down by Hazade, with her stabbing him in the back with a venomous dagger.

After the Ancients were down it was only a question about time before Baal was down. Again, the minions before who were unaffected by her cold spells proved the biggest challenge. But in the end they died and the way to Baal was open.

Baal was quickly disposed of and she stood victorious. The way was open for Tyreal to destroy the Worldstone.

I started a Fishymancer, but he proved to be too slow to efficiently farm mephisto for basic gear, so I started a sorceress. She was supposed to be a blizzballer, but ended up as a pure Blizzard sorc. In the end it means she's wasted two points in the fire tree, namely fireball and firebolt. She flew through Norm and NM, but had issues in several areas in hell. She farmed both NM and Hell Mephisto quite exstensively before proceeding. I had serious issues with freeing Anya (what's the point of having a wonderful Pindle-farmer, but not being able to free her in the first place?) and killing the ancients, but eventually Anya was freed and the Ancients went down. The biggest problem in the throne room proved to be the cold immune mages. Wearing Nature's peace really made things easier. This is my first 1.11 matriarch.

The battle was long and hard, especially against the CI in the Throne Room (something like 20 Vampires) and the first three times I got to Lister he spawned CI - I thought he always came that way and I started to wonder how people run Baal with a Blizz Sorc. I finally got through though, especially after I got my Shaftstop back from my roommate and tossed it onto "Kasim." I went into town and bought a toxic winged knife to stop Lister's life regen, as it was getting to be faster than my merc could deal damage. Baal himself fell hard to the single spell build, and with a Kelpie Snare in my cube my merc slowed him to molassas.

Baal dropped me nothing at all good though. 2 rares and 4 blues... and I had on around 300 MF. Oh well, I don't play for drops alone.

RANDOM THOUGHTS

Freckles was far more fragile than Tracy, but I expected that. The good news is that it doesn't really matter. Blizzard (around 5500 - 5700 damage) just wipes out everything. As long as I was able to drop a blizzard or two in time, everything was demolished before being able to mount much of an offensive.

I specifically tried to make the mercenary more lethal than the usual walking Meditation aura, (hence the particularly nasty "Insight", coupled with 20 IAS on the helm and 15 on the armor to reach the next breakpoint), because I wanted somebody who could take down the pesky cold immunes. And he did exactly that. As long as they didn't swarm him, he killed them with a little help from static field.

Never the less, I did a lot of teleporting through some areas, especially the ice caves in Act IV.

Final note: Although she has less MF than my current Meph runner, she's quite a bit faster, so I think I'll use her for the rest of the Mephathon. And after that, it's leveling in the Ancient Tunnels and Pindleskin.

Well I finaly made my first single player matriarch/patriarch.

Matriarch Roller

She was a pure blizzard sorc. I was using it to mf both pindle and meph and never expected to bring her all the way through. I really had no problems at all. It stayed on players 8 all the way through nightmare, and hell was pretty easy too. There were a few problems with cold immunes, but my merc handled it pretty well.
Crushing blow + poison + lifesteal = dead monsters + living merc

I got to hell pindle at level 66. :shocked: Then I leveled up to 86 doing players 3 pindle runs. The Hellforge drops were Sheal, Pul, Ko, in that order. :laugh:

The stats were pretty simple because it was pure. Point Placements
At level 86 I had a block chance of 62%
Strength: 110 (Maybe more if I decide to use stormshield)
Dexterity: 178 (Mabe more if I decide on max block with stormshield)
Vitality: 139 (The rest)
Energy: A fish ate it.
Extra Points: 43 + 15 from quests

I got to hell diablo with the act 2 defensive and the cold immunse started to regenrate faster than he attacked. Then I came up with the perfect cheap solution and switched to hell defensive merc.

The crushing blow hit hard. So I socketed it with a perfect skull a flawless skull and a flawless emerald. The poison stoped the regeneration, the crushing blow killed them, and the damage was high enough that the lifesteal was effective.

Overall this charachter was loads of fun and now it's time to get back to endlessly running bosses!!!!!

This build is based off Clerv's bearsorc , which, by the way, I would highly recommend for anyone wanting to make a dualdream bearsorc. The idea is to have a sorc which is quite rugged and can kick butt anywhere in hell. Thus it incorporates a lot of damage mitigation factors in order to make a successful melee sorceress.

Guardian angel is the linchpin of this build. It knocks out nearly all elemental damage and provides a huge boost to block chance and speed thus making it viable to go for blocking on a dream shield. Max block, 10,000 defence and some pdr ( from dungo ) were very helpful in mitigating physical damage. 2k+ hp provided a good cushion for some tacky situations ( more below ).

Curses, namely confuse and lifetap are very useful to this build. Dreams proc confuse when struck, so the monsters all attack each other which is very nice. Lifetap heals me up to full in a few attacks when hitting a target that is cursed and is not PI. Also 10% LL and 10 life per kill on dracs were helpful during the in between periods when tap isn't there.

I have to say that this was easily one of the most fun characters that I have ever played. Normal attack is rather nice, just hold down the RMB and run around one shotting things with huge elemental damage boosted by conviction. No need to worry about mana burn and attack is fast, fast, fast.

The inventory was filled with almost all res/life charms to get 90 allres and good life. Only one skillers was included ( a burning of sustenance ) and like most of my characters she also had both tomes, keys and 2x4 empty space. I did not bother with swapping prebuff equipment for call to arms, enchant etc. Just used the bear form switch to cast enchant, chilling armor and werbear.

Not everything was fun and games though. Mainly in act 5, there were problems. Things that ignored block and defense, like pindle skeletons and serpents charge attacks hurt ( when amped a charge would take out half my life sometimes, ouch ). Stygian furies in large numbers were a problem even with confuse, since they could easily kill my merc ( he isn't buffed with call to arms and they ignore defense ). Dolls could be problematic when amped. Lightning immunes were slower to kill and two consecutive levels in Nihlathak temple spawned all-LI, which was frustrating. A cursed dual-LI/FI frenzytaur boss proved difficult, and there was a nasty pack of conviction gloams in the Icy Cellar. But eventually the game was completed fully on p8, with no deaths and no monsters parked. That's pretty impressive, I think.

Matriarch Ingsera - my first sorceress. After mat'ing, I obtained a Tal Rasha set and ran mainly Countess, Andariel and Mausoleum. Build is meteorb. Fire-sorcs don't really do well in hell. Actually I don't know when I last played this character. Haven't needed to run countess for a very long time now.

Matriarch Kira- my main magic find character. Tal Rasha sorc again, pure blizzard. Did hundreds, maybe thousands of Meph, Pindle and ancient tunnel runs. Found some rather good stuff.

Matriarchs Zarine and Nynaeve - Writeup here. They are basically dual tree sorcs that pwn hell. I like the blizzballer the most. In fact she is my #1 character of all time, extremely versatile and high damage.

Matriarch Moiriane - Levelled as a lightning/firewall sorceress, then converted to a pure lightning sorc to do some Baal runs. Boring and limited. I respec'ed her to an Ondal's baal runner in an attempt to make her more interesting, it didn't work. Litesorcs are tedious, limited and basically only good at Baals.

Matriarch Traxex - Basically the same thing as described here, with a few changes, notably, getting a 'Dream' helm to do some lightning damage. Her fire damage is very impressive with splash and pierce, like owns p8 pindle no problem. But lightning isn't up to the mark with one dream and it doesn't splash. New LCS, enchant cast at lvl 32 with call to arms.

Notable find: she obtained my first ever Sazabi's Cobalt Redeemer in WSK2. I pool all my runes in the GoMule stash, so I have no idea which were her forge rewards.

Notes: Like many of my toons, I started this character back when 1.10 was current, and played her off-and-on through patches 1.11, 1.12b, and now 1.13c. I found her quite versatile, and fun to play. I think of her as a "hybrid" trapper, because she has three trap skills that she uses consistently: Lightning (and Death) Sentry, Wake of Inferno, and Blade Fury.

I simultaneously maxed DS (with three points in Fire Blast for another shot) and Shadow Master skills first. Next, i maxed LS and WoI simulatenously. LS was used both as a co-synergy with DS, and to have a ten-shooter instead of a six-shooter (for the same mana cost) at those times when corpse explosions weren't necessary or beneficial. WoI was a support trap against LIs; thanks to it's damage synergy from DS, it became a reasonably fast killer, not weak at all. Future points will probably be invested in Fire Blast, to strengthen WoI (and evenutally DS) even more.

She relied a great deal on her Shadow Master to engage foes and hold them still enough to be hit consistently with her blade fury shuriken and sentry traps' missiles. The Shadow Master would occasionally lay her own traps, which would cause some of mine to evaporate prematurely, but this generally only slowed the killing a little, and it was well worth it to have the extra minion. She used the cloak skill a few times to help her get past ranged attackers like archers and slingers, but otherwise, she really didn't need to rely on it. She used BoS a lot more than Fade; I generally preferred having the quicker run/walk and sentry-summoning speed over the resistance boost.

The final battle with Baal was tedious: his AI produced lots of festering tentacles and dopplegangers to distract her sentry traps, and he aimed his hoarfrost wedges and mana-burning attacks at Quor each and every time, never once targeting the shadow nor the mercenary.

Merc, act II, Might: Shaftstop, Rockstopper and Reaper's

The whole point of this build was to test the power of -light res%. Since I don't have a Griffon's, a build centered around this CM sword I kept for a future tesladin seemed like a fun experiment. The high dex needed for the sword suggested a max block variant, which I like to play anyway, so no problem there.
Short conclusion: -40% light res. obliterates stuff, until she hits LI's. Then she just sits down and cries a bit while her merc pokes holes in those annoying creatures.

Katarina yawned through early Normal with some jewel of envy twink gear. She yawned through late Normal with charged bolt. She yawned herself a dislocated jaw through Nightmare, and decided to let the cat play D2 after she got hold of the CM Phase Blade. Flowing tapestries of Charged Bolts obliterated anything in her path. She even had to check whether that darn fake-MP /players 8 setting didn't wear off in the meantime.

Then she hit Hell.

I won't lie here. Katarina dropped to /P3 throughout all of Hell for safety. She didn't want her merc to waste too much time on LI's. After act III, she teleported as fast as she could to get to the Hellforge (Fal) and beyond. She tele'd through Act V in one hour. Really, single tree sorcs are such pussies (see avatar) sometimes.

Notable finds: totally forgot, I played many characters at the same time, so I forgot what Katarina picked up.

Ancients: First try: 3 lightning immunes. [BLEEP]. Second Try: Only the Axe Man spawned LI+mana burn. Didn't see much of the others, since chain lightning/lightning toasted them. The funny thing was that he threw junk at me (75% block rules here) while my Merc scratched his back. He never bothered to turn around to open up a can of whupass on Emilio.

WSK: Gloams, teleport, more gloams, more teleport.

Throne room: Went quickly, no minions of Baal are innately LI apparently. Cool!

Baal: Katarina died to a tentacle :cry:. She kept spamming lightning under a blood curse and by the time she noticed a lack of red, a sneaky tentacle poked her to death... I'm SO not ready for hardcore yet. Second try went better, she lived, Baal died: Matriarch!

Retirement plan: Countess runs/Ancient sanctuary runs, cows maybe. She'll be my specialist rune huntress.

This is a fairly standard cookie-cutter lightning (+infinity) sorceress. I remember when Denton first posted his sub 2:30 baal run with a lite/infinity sorceress. Ever since then (2007), I’ve wanted to build one. I finally built my infinity a few days ago (thanks 1.13b!), and immediately started this gal. She is remarkably fast at baal-runs, and is a lot of fun to play.

Her name is the latin name for the Northern Hawk Owl. It’s a nice, fairly handsome small owl of the boreal forests of north America, occasionally showing up in the US during particularly cold winters up north. No real relevance to this build, but I have always thought it was a cool name for a sorceress.

Thoughts:

A warning to anyone thinking of building one of these: they are really as fast as advertised, and will make all other baal-runners feel slow. I did tons of baal runs with my Blova (Sturnella_Magna) and was feeling pretty zippy with ~4:00-4:20 runs. This gal is routinely well under 3:00 (players 1/8/3), with a fastest so far of 2:38, and with practice and some levels (and maybe a more ideal map), she’ll even get faster. Nothing slows her down. The biggest risk is unseen dolls when clearing the throne, but nova works well for them.

I tried multiple gear rigs with her, including Denton’s 200FCR (Hoto, SotVM, FCR ring, rest the same), a 117FCR rig with more + skills (Hoto, powered ammy, frostburns for more mana), and a MF rig (occulus, Shako, wartravs, etc).

I am definitely happiest with this set of gear. I didn’t notice much difference, to be honest, with the 200FCR rig. The difference that the -56% ELR (crescent moon + griffons) makes for lite immunes once they are broken by infinity is amazing. With just griffons (hoto or occulus build), lite immunes are still pretty darn slow, and potentially dangerous. With crescent moon, they die nearly as fast as those that aren’t immune. There is not a lot of value (my opinion), in pushing the + skills much higher. There is no appreciable difference between a 28k lightning and a 34k lightning against non-immune monsters. They melt instantly either way. The difference between 28k (-56%ELR) and 34k (-21%ELR) is dramatically in favor of the former. I think it is faster against all monsters, but especially against lite immunes that are left with high resistance still after infinity breaks them.

The only downside to her is that she doesn’t have much MF (49% currently). I feel sure that I could switch out some charms to add some MF (gheeds, SCs) without any issues. I also have another griffons (+10/-20) that I may socket with a PT to add a bit too. Overall, though, I couldn’t be happier with her.

She’s going to rest for a while, though. There are other builds waiting for that infinity!

Thoughts:

Short version: fun, but not worth the hype.

Long version: I’ve read a number of threads where people suggest that holding the stick yourself is comparably effective to putting it on the moron. I know Thyiad has had great success with her Atil, who is even using a high-requirement infinity. I'm impressed by that, because I think I've got good gear, but maybe my skills aren't up to snuff. Overall, I’m not seeing it. Its certainly a fun change, but not nearly as effective, safe, or fast as my Crescent Moon/Spirit (inf on moron) sorc (mat thread).

She kills plenty fast, with slightly slower kill rate (but still VERY fast) compared to Surnia. The total –ELR that she has is -73, which is nice, but with a lower base damage I think its not quite as effective as Surnia (who has – 56 with much higher base damage). The main difference I noticed, though, was not killing speed. It was much harder to get adequate resists, mana, and FHR with her. Spirit shield is just so awesome…

With adequate mana and FHR, my other lite sorc could pretty much teleport at will, and could get out of trouble fast if needed. With inadequate FHR, this gal gets stun-locked and dies without careful play and strict avoidance of mobs. I'm not good at careful. She died a LOT.

It took nearly every piece of other gear to get FCR up to >117, so resists were a problem. I ended up using mostly shimmering SCs. When I originally built her, she had base energy, and only around 350 mana. Even with a prayer/insight merc (and a low-level warmth), she was downing blues and purples faster than my other sorcs that didn’t have insight. I re-specced her and switched a bunch of points into energy, to get her mana up to ~1k (after BO), and that made her much more playable…

Also, having the conviction aura dependent on character positioning instead of Merc is actually a disadvantage when using CL or lightning. Both of those skills make great sniper-style long-range killers. With my other sorc, she generally stays out of the fray and annihilates whoever is around the merc. With this gal, she really needs to get pretty close to the enemies to use the conviction. I think that if she was focused on Charged bolt or Nova, this would be an advantage instead of a disadvantage. Perhaps with the next build…

This may sound like complaining, but in the end, I’ve really enjoyed playing her. She’s a lot of fun, quite powerful, and fun to look at. Sure, she’s not as powerful as a textbook lite-sorc, but she’s certainly strong. I think that with some rebuilds, I’ll get the most of out of a self-wielded infinity…
