Mafia Game: Cheers/Frasier Theme

1 - If you don't believe it that isn't my problem. Well, I guess it sort of is, since I'm the one that's going to hang for it, but you know what I mean. If I post names Thy deletes them and modkills me. If I don't post them there is a tiny chance that somebody saves me and, if that happens, then by all means investigate or whatever and start listening to what I have to say. Believe me, if you trust me I'm sure we can find some kind of way for me to communicate what I know. If you can't believe me and you'd rather get one flip of town then several nights worth of information, whatever.

2 - Yes, the crazed mob of people that voted for him. I didn't mean the mafia, I mean that what happened to Gory was mob justice. Sure, they turned out to have scum, but that doesn't make ramming through a lock right. If we just wait for people to be offline and then lynch them without a defense what fun is this game?

As for new business, I have a strange question that doesn't really mean much, but that interests me quite a bit. I see that the Masons are generally played as a sort of separate entity, pro-town but almost like their own faction. Do the mafia know of their identities, or that they are town? This game is proving to be impossible to Google, so from now on all my questions about gameplay will go here instead of the Magical Answer Machine.

I'm getting huge mix readings from you. But this question here, you mention the masons and this IS something we have discussed before - it's not laid to rest just yet.


 
crepeman, the slight possibility that you are scum that I voted for you on earlier is crystallising into certainty with every post you make. If you somehow don't flip scum, I am going to be astonished.

I would find it for you but with this laptop hobbling my l337 browsing skillz you can probably find it faster. You'll probably want to refer to the original post but I basically just asked if a Mason faction would show up as Town to the mafia or if they would even know their alignment. I was trying to nonchalantly find out if my suspicion about the Masons is true. I guess since it wasn't actually directly said in any of my PMs I can probably say it:
I have reason to believe that there are two mafias. I cannot give you the exact reasons I believe this, they are included in the non-disclosure part of things, but they are credible. Very credible. However, it hinges on what exactly the mafia know about our possible Masons.

Ok, I did find this and have responded. This idea HAS been flowing through my head for the last 48 hours. I believe I mentioned game balance as a key contributor.

Solar Ice turned up pro town, I am pro town also. How the hell hell can we be a mafia like faction?



 
I really would like to here more about the masons from PCM tonight. I could possibly verify or discard most of it. Even though you don't trust my most likely.
 
I'm trying, but there isn't much to be said. This is a very fine line I am walking, I keep expecting Thy to nuke all my posts and send me a very strongly worded PM about how she isn't mad, just disappointed. I'll try.

I can't be sure, but considering the amount of players I find it unlikely that there would be Masons and multiple mafias. What I can say is that there is mystery faction in this game, and basically I have a list of the players unaccounted for by the mafia. No, I cannot name names. I can say that none of our claimed Masons are on this list.

I'd rather that not come to light - just to be safe.


It sounds like PCM is talking about a cult? If it were a cult in the traditional sense of the game...every night, we lose more and more players to it + the SK + mafia kill. Could be bad, mmmmmkay?


 
Wow, okay. I'm actually inclined to believe pcm because of his first post mentioning his ability. Where he asks about what the mafia would know about the mason's alignments.
Also, Martin gets "foe" for his reading, which can mean multiple factions.

I now think that the masons consist of 2-3 factions.

@pcm,
If you're going to get modkilled but are truly town (and if this isn't considered the most cheesy thing you can do ever) you could just tell us anyway :P
 
I don't know Martin. If he can confirm 4 townies, I think it is worth it. The masons don't recruite. The might be a cult, but then if there is recruiting would be tight on the numbers.

I thought about the cult at some point but wouldn't they have already won by now? wouldn't they have suffered some kills, rather than just townies? Do cult deaths appear as townie death?


 
@pancakeman by D1/D2 you mean the 24 hour day followed by the 48 hour day? This is probably right, but I want to be certain.

At least somebody believes me. It's a bit too late, unless you are the governor, but thanks anyway. That is very interesting about ML's readings, I had forgotten that little oddity. Could explain it. What I was wondering specifically was the mechanics of mafia, basically. Does the mafia get a list of townies or do they just take who isn't mafia and assume?

Oh, and no chance of that last bit. Even if the governor doesn't save me, which he probably won't, I am not going to sink to that. Call it not helping the town if you will, but this game basically runs off the honor system and I'm not going to sully that.
