Low Level Random Tournament, Round 2

Can someone confirm for me please;

Is the Horadric Staff quest finished after making the staff,

or

When you actually take it to completion and put it in Tal Rasha's tomb?

Condor

Its when you put it in Tal Rashas Tomb.

@goltar - yes only 2 rerolls, not 3 Thanks Lots!

Kind of stuck at the moment with Duriel. This sure a challenge! I have nearly died the 3 times I went in. Trying to figure out next move. Keep looking at the merchants for a new weapon, level up and hope for new skills, or exactly what my next move will be. Kind of bummed that I only have that 3 points in Jab so far. I could really use some more points there.

Well, there is my update and I am off to start the game again to see if any merchant has a good weapon to sell to me with measly 40k in funds available that I collected in loot.

Status update for Necrotron, currently Level 24 and about to fight Big D. I managed to find a wand with +1 to Bone Spear, so I have an almost decent attack after synergies with bone wall and teeth. It certainly helped against Mephisto. I got some Golem Mastery so the Clay Golem at least stays alive a little longer, and rolled Blood Golem after rerolling yet another Corpse Explosion skill. I'd really like to get some Bone Spear of my own; a necro without bone spells or skellies seems kinda doomed. In other fortunate news, the Hellforge dropped me an El. Fantastic.

Act III:
Waypoints: 1 - lvl22, 2 - lvl22, 3 - lvl22, 4 - lvl23, 5 - lvl23, 6 - lvl23, 7 - lvl23, 8 - lvl23

Ran the Countess again, because I needed an 'El'. After the second run I had 2x Eld, 1xTir, 1xNef, 1xEl, and 1xTal. I made a 'Steel' flail, which is kicking butt right now (I had to fight a Stone Skin Swarm, which are physical immune in normal-only the second PI boss I've faced in normal, and the Open Wounds rocked him good). I found another Tir&El in Lost City, and a second Nef from a cruddy zombie there as well. I found my first ammy in Halls of the Dead  and now I have an Amulet of the Bat. Rockin!

New Skills

My first update:

Character Name: Helios
Charcter Class: Necromancer
Character Level: 13
Location: Act II Normal
Current Quest: Radament
Rerolls Left: 8

Act I WPS:

Cold: 1
Stony: 1
Dark: 6
Marsh: 8
Outer: 8
Jail: 11
Inner: 11
Catacombs: 12

Act I Quests:

Den: 4
Raven: 5
Cain: 7
Countess: 9
Malus: 10
Andariel: 13

Skills (In Order):

1. Teeth - 3
2. Amplify Damage - 3
3. Bone Armor - 3
4. Raise Skeleton 4 (6 with shield)
Clay Golem - 1 (from shield)

Well he started Act I and completed it in the same game. Played all of Act I on /players 1 and had no NDE either. I found the unique mace in the catacombs and man is it a good weapon! 33% Crushing blow helps a super lot and especially vs andariel and coming up bosses. Also has +15 strength, 50% fire resist and knockback. My skills are pretty good so far with teeth for bone skills and Bone Armor helps a lot. Raise skeleton is always a good skill with 2 picks in it already.

Your deeds of valor will be remembered. :hanky:

Adrics quest came to an end in Tal Rashas Tomb.

Just after I managed to find my first unique, Gorefoot. He was wearing it so alas I have nothing for the stash. I have used 1 more reroll so only have 3 left. I am considering using them to try one more go.

Last update for him.
Waypoints 6,7,8 - Level 18
Quests 4,5 - Level 18.

Another quick update:

Character Name: Helios
Charcter Class: Necromancer
Character Level: 17
Location: Act II Normal
Current Quest: Horadric Cube
Rerolls Left: 8

Skills (In Order):

1. Teeth - 3
2. Amplify Damage - 3
3. Bone Armor - 3
4. Raise Skeleton - 6 (8 with shield)
5. Dim Vision - 3
Clay Golem - 1 (from shield)

Act II WPs:

Sewers: 15

Act II Quests:

Radament: 16

I started playing on /players 8 so I could get some more levels and get more skills. I just beat Radament and am now at level 17. New skill is Dim Vision which is a pretty good skill and I use pretty often... especially later. Very good for any parking and ranged enemys. Looking for Cube now.

Gonna start using rerolls now...

Ohh, yeah. First time I've ever defeated Duriel in a tourney...He didn't drop the Ral (which was my best Duriel drop ever) that my HC barb got (I started praying after the countess coughed up a Tal, just like that same barb recieved), but this is the second best Duriel drop I've recieved. Gogo Skewer of Krintiz! Seriously, I think I will upgrade this unless something really really good comes up (Islestrike, perhaps?).

Cellar 1-lvl 19
Arcane-lvl 19
Canyon of the Magi-lvl 19

Quests
Staff-lvl 21
Arcane-lvl 19
Summoner-lvl 19
Seven Tombs-lvl 21
Golden Bird-lvl 21

I went Kaa hunting, for the first time ever. I blew all but two of my full rejuvs (which thankfully are still intact) and about fifty merc ressurrections...in the lesser tombs. I have no idea why the real tomb is so damn wussy...seriously, in one room (sadly I couldn't get a screenshot) I fought a Stone Skin ghost (the second PI boss boss today), a conviction Vampire, and a Mana Burn mummy in the same room. That wasn't the best room...one room contained two boss mummies (Extra Fast and Cold Enchanted) PLUS two vampires-Extra Strong and Lightning Enchanted. Fortunately I've got decent resists and CBF on Death's Sash, so everything worked out, but the merc dying was a bit of a problem. Kaa himself was no sweat, he spawned with three skellies and five scarabs, and though my merc died instantly, he was no trouble. I rolled Spirit wolves for my next skill, but it turns out they did nothing when fighting Little D anyway. I went ahead and did the golden bird (I still think it's an Act II quest, seriously). Guess what the mod on the first Unique was...

Incidentally, does anybody else think it's hilarious that Meshif says that "I gave you my word and brought you to Kurast" as if you didn't know you were on his stinkin' boat?

Well Randie_jr made it father than mom, mostly because the only cold encht archer she got was all by his lonesome (3 minions) and she' gottten to the inner cloister. Plus she got Bloodfist, her first unique, and one I can USE! Whewho! andy's gonna die! eventually...

lvl 14 Malus
lvl 14 Jail wp
lvl 15 Inner Cloister wp

Well, Necrotron managed to defeat Diablo at Level 25, continuing the strategy of storming Bone Spears at a Clay Golem slowed boss. Took a while, but seemed to work. And he did drop well! At least, for a melee character. Both Griswold's Edge and Swordback Hold, which makes me want to try some melee combat given my total lack of otherwise useful skills along with Bone Armor and plenty of life. We'll see how it works in Act V.

Another Update:

Character Name: Helios
Charcter Class: Necromancer
Character Level: 22
Location: Act II Normal
Last Quest Completed: Radament
Rerolls Left: 7

Skills (In Order):

1. Teeth - 6 (7 with shield)
2. Amplify Damage - 3
3. Bone Armor - 3
4. Raise Skeleton - 6 (9 with shield)
5. Dim Vision - 3
6. Corpse Explosion - 2

Act II WPs:

Sewers lvl 2 - 15
Dry Hills - 18
Halls of Dead - 19
Far Oasis - 21

Act II Quests:

Radament - 16

Well, Still playing on /players 8 full-time for exp for more skills and better merc. I have managed to get into the Far Oasis and grab the WP after going through the Rocky Waste and Dry Hills getting the cube at last. My merc is VERY POWERFUL in Act II, because of his new weapon he gambled for. I had to use my first reroll in a long time getting Dim Vision again, so I reroll and I get CORPSE EXPLOSION! Perfect! Just what I was looking for... now I am gonna reroll until I get Bone Spear unless its something that I can manage with. I am turning into a MF character with a strong merc for kills. I found my first 1.10 gull dagger and am now using. I have found 4 uniques and no sets. Finds are Gull, Razortine, Serpent Lord, and Crushflange. I use gull for mf and when I fight bosses or anything hard too kill I use crushflange for 33% CB. Everything easy in Act II about to enter the Maggot Lair and get the Staff. I am having a very lucky time gambling in Act II, gambling good rare gloves first try, good rare belt first try, and a rare poleaxe for my merc first try. 3 gambles = 3 good rares. Total MF: 135 (merc has 0 mf)

Good going everyone. Chaos_Knight has finally killed Andariel, and is moving on to Act 2. Still haven't used any rerolls, but with the skill set I've gotten, I think I should use some soon. I've got Resist Fire, Resist Cold, and am now putting the first 3 into Resist Lightning. Also have Might and Sacrifice. So I'm probably going to use up a few rerolls and go for either an Avenger or a Ranger, whichever I get the skills for first. Anyway, time for my update.

Quests:
Andariel - 14

Waypoints:
Inner Cloister - 13
Catacombs - 13

No great finds, though I've gambled a few decent rares. I'm uploading scores now.

ok, another update,

waypoints,

city - 45
river - 45

Quests

izzy - 44
forge - 45
d - 49

Almost exactly double my lvls through normal. And killing big d was a bit of deja vu too. I used the same tactics; volcano, run sideways run sideways, ad nasuem. He dropped a gold shamshir to which my first reaction was, too bad i'm not melee. *click* hasn't that got +3 fire skills? yay!

I'll have to pump the dex for my next couple of levels to be able to use it though.

My other good find was the meat scraper for my merc. and my 3rd pair of bloodfists.

poor form baal! The "lord of destruction" didn't live up to his name. He didn't take half as long as mephisto and i didn't have the same rush i did fighting diablo. He did seem keen on making sure his brothers didnt die in vain though

Lister's pack seemed to have their sights set on my immune to phys oak sage and didn't present much of a challenge.

The ancients did pretty much the same thing. I got lucky on first roll too, extra fast, stone skin, spectral hit.

So onto hell, where the men and the boys are separated (or something like that)

And baal dropped me an occy, and LoH. And a minion dropped lycanders flank. Very useful, but not for me!

WPs

Frigid - 50
Arreat - 51
Crystal - 51
Glacial - 54
Halls - 53
Frozen - 54
Ancients - 54
WSK - 56

As you can see, I'm going the 'ultral-low level' route. I've never killed dury and meph at such low levels. Being at ~400 life with my oak sage and in WW form, with about 50% block helps running through certain areas to maintain a low level. Nothing was hard except for the act bosses. Dury I was almost able to tank, but had to return to town a couple times for a small break and to put pots in belt. My merc managed to not die, but spirit wolves were useless. Meph wasn't too bad, except when he let loose his charged bolts. I had a NDE when he killed my oak sage, and then CB'd me. I'm not sure how much life I had left, but I couldn't see red in my orb.
Used 2 rerolls, 1 to avoid arctic blast, the other to avoid more points in raven. I've been pretty lucky, but I'm waiting for Dire wolves so that I can have a real tank. My merc, at lvl 16, has stopped getting exp, so I'm gonna run the sewers a few times to help him out, and to avoid getting exp myself. I've found 0 sets, and 0 uniques, although some pretty nice rares have shown up.

Just killed Baal, it took a looooooooong time. At times it seemed like I was doing no damage. (which is possible seeing as my chance to hit was like 47%. I am seriously thinking about leveling up some and worry less about points.

Act V

Waypoints-- Frigid Highlands lvl 23, Arreat Plateau lvl 23, Crystalline Passage lvl 23, Glacial Trail lvl 23, Halls of Pain lvl 23, Frozen Tundra lvl 23, Ancients Way lvl 23, WSK 2 lvl 24

Quests-- Shenk lvl 23, Barbarian rescue lvl 23, Prison of Ice lvl 23, Nihlathak lvl 23, Ancients lvl 23, Baal lvl 24

This was interesting, in that I have only done the Nihlathak quest twice in all the years I played Diablo II. I haven't been in the Halls of Pain for a long time.

No new skills
only 3 rerolls used still.

Thank god for Atma, (the program too but I mean the inn keeper) I've never gone through the sewers at such a low level and since I was running through to try to stay just below level (didn't work, my merc got lucky and my way got blocked 1 too many times) I forgot about Rad's poison. Running back to town to pick up some antidotes, heath, & rejuv pots, I had to stop at Atma to heal my rouge before she bit it and get rid my own poison. Andy was easy but I'm having too many NDE and I think I'm gonna players 4 (I aways do full clears) so I don't have to repeat areas too much.

lvl 16 Catacombs wp
lvl 16 Andariel
lvl 17 Radament
lvl 17 Sewers 2 wp

BTW Madmaxxam you say ultra-low level? Goltar used to get so board w/ the early stuff Diablo died when he was lvl 25 at worst. Although that tended to be SC and directed skills, there _is_ a reason why he thought this up. (I play the opposite so I'm really into the long lived = more wp & quests)

oh yeah, got burst of speed for the last one so I have
Tiger strike-3
Fist 'o Fire-3
Psyic Hammer-3
Weapon Block-3
Burst of Speed-3
next, who knows?

Level 25 you say?
Act 4: Quests:
(1) 21
(2) 21
(3) 22
WPS:
(1) 21
(2) 21

Diablo fell at the nice low level of 22. Was probably my hardest normal diablo fight ever. Since I was using a steel runeword my strategy was run up to diablo, attack until he was open wounds, and then retreat for a bit. This went on for a long time, and used up over 10k in healing pots and tps. The rest of act 4 was uneventful, although I've started to get some interesting finds.

Ghoul Scarab
Jewel
Required Level: 14
Poison Resist +28%
30% Extra Gold from Monsters
3% Better Chance of Getting Magic Items
9% Damage Taken Goes to Mana

Still 0 sets/uniques, even though I'm now wearing some mf. That may be a record for me, all the way through A4 with no set/unique. Hellforge dropped a Thul, not bad. Will probably save it for a cube formula
