Low Level Random Tournament, Round 2

Kelvin the Barbarian took a quick run through the Cold Plains and Stony Field, but got scared in the Underground Passage and decided to play for real. I realized the first act doesn't really matter anyway, since a difference of 10 levels will make only 10 pts difference, but making NM Act 1 at 1 level less than usual will be 6 pts extra per quest, ie running around at lvl 1 and risking dieing just isn't worth it.

So anyway, Kelvin is still level 1 till I play for real.

WP
1 - Cold plains, Stony Field

Quests
None

Rerolls: 10 Remaining
Skills: Sword Mastery 0/3

Hey everyone! alright im going to join up in the tournament cuz it sounds pretty fun. I rolled a 6 so im a paladin and then i rolled a 1 so my first 3 points will go into Prayer.
Character: SickWidIt the Paladin
Rerolls Used - NONE!

thanks for hosting this tournament and I will post my progress shortly.

Nothing really interesting to report, other than that Necrotron has just taken down Duriel. My merc kept dying, so I just had the clay golem tank him while I rained down Teeth. I don't remember what I posted before, so I'll just put up all of Act II.

Act II:
Waypoints: 1 - lvl18, 2 - lvl 18, 3 - lvl19, 4 - lvl19, 5 - lvl20, 6 - lvl20, 7 - lvl20, 8 - lvl21
Quests: Radament - lvl18, Horadric Staff - lvl21, Tainted Sun - lvl20, Arcane Sanctuary - lvl21, Summoner - lvl21, Duriel - lvl21
Skills: Amp Damage=3, Bone Armor=3, Clay Golem=6, Teeth=3, Bone Wall=3, Corpse Explosion=4
Rerolls remaining: 5

Made it to the end of the claw viper temple so far. Got maul as another skill. Not having found a mana leech item I am going through blue pots like they are going out of fashion. Found the runes for steel and decided to make it in a 2 handed sword in the hope that it will help somewhat. Probably a poor weapon for a druid but hey this is my first one. Also found a white wolf hat with +2 to oak sage. That helps somewhat. My next skill after 3 in maul was werewolf. I'm hoping that the next one will be lycanthropy though thats not really likely but one can always hope.

Act 2 progress so far
Waypoint 1 - Level 14
Quest 1 - Level 15
Waypoint 2 - Level 16
Waypoint 3 - Level 16
Waypoint 4 - Level 16
Waypoint 5 - Level 17
Quest 3 - Level 18

Adric level 18 Druid
Raven - 3
Poison Creeper - 3
Summon Spirit Wolf - 3
Werewolf - 1
Werebear - 3
Maul - 3
Firestorm - 3

THAT was the hardest Diablo kill I have EVER had. Of course, I am usually like level 35 or so by Diablo, so that makes a lot of sense.

Diablo dies, and gave me nothing good.

Act IV
WP-- City of the Damned lvl 22, River of Flame lvl 22

Quests -- Izual lvl 22, Hell's Forge lvl 22, Diablo lvl 23

Oh, and my last skill, again, went to holy bolt. So, when I get my next level, I will have 9 in sacrifice and 9 in Holy Bolt. It definitely helped kill stuff in the Chaos Sanctuary, but I would much rather get zeal, thus opening up vengeance as an option, but, it is better than getting, like, blessed aim, or holy fire, or cleansing.

Ok, I've gotten everyone's scores in, and will be uploading them in a few minutes. Answering/addressing particular issues.

Solo, yes, you can join in anytime.

Gabriel74, did you complete the Gibdinn quest? I didn't see anything in your updates about it.

Condor, yes, you can restart, it uses up 3 rerolls and resets your score. You get a new class and starting skill, etc. As for the items, if they were in the in-game stash, they cannot be used for item donations. As in the previous tournament, items in possession of a hardcore character on death are lost with that character. You have to pull these items off beforehand. If you're unsure of how to do this, check the ATMA sticky thread.

Now, for my updates:

Waypoints:
Outer Cloister - 10
Jail Level 1 - 12

Quests:
Countess - 8
Malus - 11

Time to switch tournaments for a while, and go back to some weaponless fun.

if i thought baal took a long time, well duriel was 3 times longer. My general tactic was to tp down, volcano, potion for the merc, volcano or two, then tp back to town and heal when my merc got into the red. I used in excess of 60 tps and 150k gold on ressurections.

It's no longer really safe to run past boss backs so i am having to make some kills.

Sewers - 38
dry hills - 38
halls - 38
oasis - 38
city - 38
palace - 39
arcane - 39
canyon - 40

quests
rad - 38
snakes - 39
summoner - 40
the other one (name?)- 40
staff - 41
duriel - 41

Kelvin is fun to play. It's been a while since I made a barb. First skill was sword mastery, then second roll was mace mastery: reroll, got axe mastery: reroll, got howl. 3 set was sword mastery again, 4th set got howl again, decided I really wanted to try for a combat skill, rerolled and got taunt. Usefull skill there so onward.

Kelvin has now reached lvl 11 and has the following info:

WP
lvl 1 - Cold plains, Stony Field, lvl 7 Dark Woods, lvl 10 Black Marsh, lvl 11 outer cloister

Quests
lvl 5 - Den of Evil, lvl 6 Blood Raven, lvl 8 Rescued Cain, lvl 10 Killed Countess.

Rerolls: 7 remaining

i rolled HoW again, but i'll take it, maybe my merc will appreciate it someday.

3 rerolls used

Loved reading about the last version of this tourney and have already got hooked by this one so I have decided to unlurk and join the party.

Rolled a 5 - Paladin - and then a 3 - Might. Happy enough with those (even though I've not played a 1.10 HC Pally before), so no rerolls used.

Now for a name...think I'll go with Leopold.

I don't get a lot of time for DII nowadays, and I still have 3 survivors in the TWD, so progress will be slow. Hope that's OK with everyone here.

Good luck everyone!

Great! I started again and used the 3 roll penalty to do so. Post of the current stats should be a message before this one or so. New character name will be Randazon since I rolled an Amazon this time.

Ok, Biggin's Bonnet was on Randomizer when he bit the dust, so that leaves the following in the ATMA stash:

Eld & Tal Rune
Axe of Fechmar
Miscellaneous Gems

Do you want me to send them in or are they too low?

Might? From the start?
Oh, you lucky #%¤%¤#!

Might opens up the Offensive Aura tree that has lots of useful skills. This means that there will be considerably less risk that you will roll multiple points in Resist Fire/Cold/Lightning, Defiance, Prayer, Thorns, etc.

Mort is green with envy...

I believe the rules say that any gold/green items are fine for the stash, so the Axe is in. Only runes of Amn or above though. And a prize stash is much less fun if you just fill it with gems. I'd until you are done with the tournament before sending in any of the prize stash, that should give you a good idea of which rares/magics/etc. are worth sending in.

That is actually a good idea. You never know, I might die again and have to add to it.

Time for a real update:

Rolls: Druid: Werwolf, raven, oak sage, oak sage
Rerolls Left: 10

Act 1: Quests:
(1) 3 (2) 3 (3) 1 (4) 7 (5) 9 (6) 11
WPS:
(1) 1 (2) 1 (3) 1 (4) 1 (5) 2 (6) 10 (7) 10 (8) 11

Ran back for some questing after my initial WP frenzy. I'm surprised I managed to kill blood raven at lvl 3. I got some gloves with +AR to help me out, and I had to avoid all of the zombies & skelies. Was all that running around worth the extra 2 points? We'll see. After that countess wasn't too bad. I had to run around the smith to return the malus before killing him, due to an imminent lvl, and taking andy at lvl 11 was anything but easy. Fortunately I had a lvl 5 oak sage helping me out. I've been hoping for some Lycanthropy... but I didn't feel that the raven or oak sages were worth re-rolling. I think I'll grab some Act 2 WPs before questing, although as soon as my merc kills anything that's a lvl for me.

I-I-I-I-I am so sick of...Act I

All right, I was out camping all weekend (oh, I know that it's October (or December, which would actually be the tenth month)) so I just got home yesterday to play Rick_Bayless. I would never have thought ordinarily of attempting to run past most of act 1. I waited till level 7, when I got my oak sage to do it though...

Skills:
1-3 Werewolf
4-6 Lycanthropy
7-9 Werebear (rerolled to Oak Sage)
10-12 WB (rerolled to WW)

Rerolls Used: 2. To be honest I should have taken WB, since I would have a)loved to have the option either way and b)really liked to have Hunger.

At any rate, I can't stand Act I at the moment. My Necromancer (who indulged in the MFO, since he's on the brink of being permanently retired) ran Andy a few dozen times. My Barb is struggling in Act I NM. My S/U tourney Assassin is still dawdling in /players 8 Normal Act I. I brought my HC fire druid past Andy last week, after killing every darn monster, every cruddy fallen and carver and devilkin and dark one, and basically the whole thing is starting to bother me. That and that despite killing the entire tower and finding at least six Druid helms, not one had a Lycanthropy or Oak Sage bonus, is making me glad I didn't try the Underground passage or the Tamoe Higland (which had at least 4 Extra Fast Uniques ON the path).

[/endrant]

Den of Evil-level 7
Blood Raven-incomplete (I'll get to this in a moment)
Cain-Level 7
Countess-Level 9 (A moon clan wandered in right after and I got level 10)
Malus-Level 7

Waypoints
Cold Plains, Stony Field, Dark Wood, Black Marsh, Outer Cloister-Level 7
Jail, Inner Cloister, Catacombs 2-not gotten as yet.

I have never been beaten around so badly in Act I Normal. Some will say "that's cause you were running around at Level 7." But with Oak Sage and Lycanthropy, I had nearly 190 life, which is way more than I've had with any character in Act I, except my Fire druid, who needed no points in Dex and few in Strength, and had his own Oak sage. At any rate, this was really sucky. I'm AFRAID of Blood Raven, for crying out loud. After getting NDE's from Mana Burn rogues, Extra Strong skelly mages, and generally getting my precious life orb getting taken down to half in about five seconds, I am getting REALLY angry with this. I am not going to reroll to start a new character unless I get stomped by Duriel, the Summoner, or Meph, so I have to treat him carefully I guess.

Got some bonus time to play today! Hooray. Took Kelvin through the rest of act 1,

WP
lvl 1 - Cold plains, Stony Field, lvl 7 Dark Woods, lvl 10 Black Marsh, lvl 11 outer cloister lvl 12 jail and inner cloister lvl 13 catacombs lvl 2

Quests
lvl 5 - Den of Evil, lvl 6 Blood Raven, lvl 8 Rescued Cain, lvl 10 Killed Countess, lvl 12 Malus lvl 14 Anariel

And that wrapped up act 1.

at lvl 13 had to roll for skills got polearm mastery, rerolled to leap. Realized I should've used rerolls early when there were less masteries to worry about. With 6 masteries to choose from, I think they will unfortunately drain away a lot of points.

For act 2, immediately ran the outdoor wp, getting the dry hills, far oasis and lost city at lvl 14, went into the sewers and got that one too, but hit lvl 15 before I could get the halls of the dead lvl 2 wp. Grabbed the cube, and killed radament at lvl 16. I had to roll new skills for lvl 16, got polearm mastery again... don't want to waste my rerolls but....tried again, got howl, once more (please bash!) got shout. well, better than polearm mastery. Kelvin is starting to look like a warcry barb. But pretty soon no reroll chances will be left and I'll be stuck with what I get.

Rerolls: 4 remaining
