Is an Um Rune a good drop from NM Hellforge?

I never did stone myself. I'll have to consider it. I've used um's for upgrading, and a CM phaseblade that was lots of fun.

UM is a nice rune in a Weapon for the OW mod if you don't have OW anywhere else.

Just make a Rune word out of it and call it a day...

to answer your original question. Yes. It is a very nice NM forge drop.

Gloom > Stone! :wink2:
Finally, someone smart around here :P I mean, decent defence, much better resists, some FHR, and CtC Din Vision... It's the best use for an Um rune in my opinion.

"Every one who share the same ideas with me is smart" :) nice conclusion, anyway...

Stone is a better armour for melee chars that dont have problems with resists, Most of my chars dont need the extra 30 Resists All.

Stone:

+defense
+50 FHR i love FHR in melee chars.
+6 Str
+10 Energy
+16 Vit = in all chars at least +32 Life
+300 defense Vs Missile
Level 16 Clay Golem (16 Charges) Very Good the slow motion effect to bosses + Kelpie snare/decrepify

Extra Defense+Defense Vs Missile + Extra target(Golem) covers "15% Chance To Cast Level 3 Dim Vision When Struck".

If you need Resists in your armour Gloom is a nice choice. but can always use Naj's Light Plate + Um or Smoke Runeword is a cheap alternative.

Um's really need to be socketed in armours...to greatly enhance an already kickass item.

I do not agree. Um runes do some things (a couple of cool runewords, upgrading rare exceptional weapons and even the Open Wounds in weapons) that aren´t easily available in other ways. Resistances are.

If I want resists in armor, there are much cheaper (easier to find) alternatives:

* Ral/Ort/Thul runes. Usually, you don´t actually need all 3 resists. You can often juggle equipment around so you lack only one resist in large numbers. That can be filled with one of these (much more common) resist runes.

* Scintillating Jewels. OK, so the perfect ones with 15% Resist All are hard to find, but a few %-units lower would be almost as good as an Um rune, and if the jewel has a suffix, it might even be better!
