How do quest drops work?

I just read something about this on another forum if this is the same thing. It said to do every quest in act 1 in order fully completed including the imbue then talk to Warriv and every time you kill Andy afterwards, she will drop "quest drops" which is like killing her for the first time every time for better rares and other stuff. You can do the same thing with Duriel as well.

Quest Drop:
When a person that hasn't complete a boss, say Andarial, opens a game, anyone who kill her will be quest drop.

I think you are confusing two things. First, there is the "Andy glitch" which is that if you talk to Warriv after the Andarial killing that gives you the quest, then forever after in that difficulty killing Andarial will give you the improved quest drop. Most people have the Andy glitch unless they did something odd. But Andarial is the only act boss for which this works. For Duriel, Meph, and Diablo you will get the improved quest drop only if you kill the boss and have not yet completed the quest.

The way to get the quest drop every time is to have a character which has not completed the quest which joins a game in which the quest cannot be obtained and then the character kills the boss there. For example, if you want to kill Meph for the quest drop each time, and you join games made by someone who already has Meph, then each time you kill Meph you will get the improved quest drop. You can never progress beyond Meph, though, as once you get the quest you'll no longer get the improved quest drop.

To my mind, it's not really worth taking advantage of with the possible exception of Hell Meph. Here's a reasonable way of doing it that takes only one computer but two characters. Suppose you have a character A who has completed Hell or at least is in Act 4 and a character B who is in Hell Act 3 but has not yet received the final quest in Act 3, killing Meph. Character A makes the game, plays for a while (5 minutes) leaves and then character B joins and kills Meph. It's better with two computers, as then A can make the game and there is no need to wait- B can join and play and A can enchant/BO/loot the corpse of B if needed.

You do not need to do the imbue or any other quest. Just when you kill Andy the first time, pick up your goodies go to town and talk to Warriv and go to Act 2 and save/exit game. DO NOT talk to anyone except Warriv. DON'T get your items IDed by Cain or healed by Akara, just Warriv. And DON'T talk to Jeryan in act 2, enter act 2, save/exit game. After that whenever you kill Andy, she will drop like a quest drop everytime, meaning lots of rares and uniques.

And unless something has changed, this only works for Andy not Dury or any other boss.

That's actually pretty much backwards from how it works. If a character who hasn't completed a boss-killing quest kills a boss, that will result in a quest drop, no matter who made the game. If the quest wasn't available because the character who made the game already had that quest completed, then the character who hadn't killed the boss and who got the quest drop will be able to do it again and again, but if the quest was available, that's it and that killing character won't be able to get a quest drop again.

Andy glitch is a 3 step program. Take these three steps without leaving the game.
1. Kill Andy for the first time in that difficulty
2. Talk to Warrif
3. Take Warrif's caravan to Lut Goleim.
Bessides that you can do whatever you want in that game.

---===---

To avoid Andy Glitch do this :
1. Kill Andy for the first time in that difficulty
2. Exit game
3. Create a new or join another game
4. Talk to Warrif
5. Take Warrif's caravan to Lut Goleim.

Does the glitch then work forever afterwards, regardless of what you do?

Yes, once you have the Andy glitch in a particular difficulty, then you will keep it forever, getting rares or better on every drop. You may still see some blue magic items as failed set items, but as long as you aren't seeing arrows, potions, etc. you're getting the benefit of the Andy glitch.

You may be right, there was a lot of talk and rumors about this and what to do. I was told never to talk to any NPC except Warriv and go to Lut G. and Save/exit. But I've heard some pretty wild rumors about it. It seems that talking to Warriv and going to Lut G. in the same game are agreed though.

Indeed, gold is also a give-away that you managed to avoid the glitch. If she drops gold, your char won't be deleted when Blizz sends the rust-storm over the glitched chars. ;)

Now Warlock, stop before someone believes you. lol.

(runs off to look for "Will haveing Andy glitch get your charectar deleted by Billazard?" thread.)

On my MF orber I know when I do andy hell I mostly get Rares, Uniques, and sets. I guess I got the glitch by accident.

As you can see from my steps, it's very hard to avoid the glitch. 99.99% of the new characters have it. Only those who wanted the glitch and thought they had to talk to warrif in the next game managed to avoid it.

If you have zero MF on you, you will get all rares. They will most likely be a low quality, but they will be all rares. put on some MF, you get some magic items aswell(from Hell Andy), note the durability on those magic items though, they will, relatively frequently when compared to normal playing, be double dura(failed set).
Just give a go with different amounts of MF, do 5 games with that amount and then try another amount to find the droppings that suit you.
I've found wearing a 3 sock helm, gull, 38-ish chancies, 25MF boots and a 30MF nagel works well for my sorc. It costs about 8 squares of inv space, since I use my cube to store most of those MF items while traveling to Andy.
