How do people get SO rich?

So i go into this brg godly zon gear and this guy pulls up trade window and shows what he wears...
-perf griffs with 5/5 in it
-perf maras
-perf 15/15 eth treks
-9 +jav lifer 30+ life
-15/15 ias/res jewel in a ss
-perf COH
-perf eth 200% titans with 9 ll
-1 soj
-1 bk ring
i asked him how he gets so rich and he said lots of trading and ive been playing forever.

Well....the ladder hasnt been on for that long, i trade all the time but never really get anywhere(maybe im just bad at it) and i mf constantly,my entire ladder season doesnt even compare to his maras and griffons, am i doing something wrong??

well i think that some people just play a little too much and just get uber lucky on certain items and have just the right friends to help.

even though it would be nice to have them items, the maras, titans, griffs, probably all dupes, who wants to play with items they know are duped?

there is a thread on obtaining wealth posted

some people cheat and dupe things

some people have bots that run 24/7

others play this game nonstop

when all of the above doesnt work they purchase them

Sites like this with a trade forum or the other very popular d2 site something@jsp bring a ton of people together , so it's much easier to trade and list/find other items

there is no one size fits all answer here.
For me , I like key/organ/torch running for quick wealth

Looks like his wallet is full of fake money.

Also hard work cannot be discounted. If you glitch rushed 30+ mules to hell HF very early in the ladder, you would've had the currency to get some real bargains. Some very nice items were going extremely cheap in the first week/weeks of the ladder. Items you could sell now with a very nice profit.

While I don't consider myself that rich, what I can tell you is what MFing can't get you, key running can. HRs are a common currency for those higher-end items, and those can be obtained rather easily through key runs. That's my success story, at least. That, some friends, a bit of free time over the summer while I had mono, and a little bit of luck.

Just keep at it... you'll have your success in due time.

It really isn't hard to get uber rich in this game.

You just have to take advantage of good deals as they come- something which does require time, and some effort.

I haven't been finding that I have the time anymore with the advent of school and the new ladder, but I'll get somewhere sometime.

I think at that type of richness I would get really bored really fast...no more running baal constantly waiting for that gold diadem to drop because at that point you have everything...What else do you need? Well besides the fact he made my javzon which i thought was good look like crap

I trade, trade, and trade. I also MF, and sometimes score some very nice finds. It's funny what cool stuff you can find when you clear out an area a few times.

Oh, and the giveaway now and then helps too. :wink3:

Score a few nice finds, and then proceed to rip off everyone in each trade. Rip off enough people and you'll end up with more than you had before.

That, and sponge like heck in the "free" games for more nice finds, then rip off more people until you're wealthy. Rinse and repeat.

What has always worked well for me is a mf sorc plus a smiter for my first two chars (since the advent of the ubers that is).

Both can be geared cheaply. Run for keys/items --> Trade items for keys --> Run trist --> Unid torch = currency.

That way you can buy whatever you want with a lil' effort and no need to join the endless parade of shop buying lamers.

It's mainly luck, which is related to how much time you dedicate. IE: the more time you spend, the more likely you are to get a good deal, or find that big item.
I make a ton of my money from the "overpay" people, high level people who have money to burn and want to avoid hassle.

My most recent deal? Draculs (x2), War travelers, Tal Rasha's Armor, and Marrowwalks, for a pair of Frostburns.

I remember one game fondly. I got ist for 98 shako and wizspike. Apparently the guy was so rich, ist was his lowest currency.

hey enigmer, Let me know if you ever need anything (like another pair of Frosties) ill hook you up

Nvm i reread that and u got the dracs n travs for your frosties my bad lol
