@Dinnin
1 - Synergizing Poison Explosion, Allowed or Not?

2 - Golem Mastery and Summon Resist, Allowed or Not?

1. Yeah but I'm not sure if you'll need it...
2. Mastery yes, resist no... :)

Another two questions

1. Poison Dagger AR Bug/Feature - Can I use this with my bow or not?(using a bow so I can keep out of the line of fire and let my golem take the pounding)

2. Curses - Can I use them or not?

I ask these questions because the original discription was rather loose and non-specific.

Update on Hermey. He's defeated the Countess and stopped at the nearby WP. Still not using teeth (now at slvl7) - may not at all until A2. Amp plus my socketed scepter are doing the trick. Amplisa is now powerful enough to take down some monsters by herself :)

Hermey the Dentist, lvl17 Black Marsh

Update on my rabies wolf.

Mad dog has just rescued Decard Cain. At lvl 13, his mana is sufficient that he can mantain wolf mode all the time. Killing has become faster since large axes have started to drop. I need to make a choice from here though.

1) Do I carry on with the Iron man concept? ie. no ids/healings/tps etc
2) Do I place any pts into skills besides rabies?

If I carry on as an Ironwolf, I'm going to need at least 1 or 2 pts into summons to survive.

Btw AE, how do you get to lvl 17 in the back marsh? Thats a lot of replays.

Hmm, I did that too, once full clear everything, still lvl 14 entering the black marsh. Shouldn't the experience start slowing down around then. I normally finish Act 1 on lvl 18.

Update, to be in the spirit of the build I've abandoned the iron man concept. So MadDog is now accompanied by a pretty lady. Skills are still restricted to feral rage though until rabies is available.

Foppish The Lordling Of Mages has finally reached lvl 12 and summoned his first minion. hooray. then it got slaughtered by rakanishu..bugga. Foppish is now sitting at the entrance to the underground passage, guarded by naught but one ice shooting skeleton *deep breath*

Perdition the Inferno sorc is on the verge of retirement, Inferno is not effective beyond normal, it just can hit any monsters long enough to kill them in Nightmare. :(

I have not heard anything from hermit_boy about my "completely unreasonable" Sorceress build. Technically, nobody suggested the build as was intended so I don´t know if I have "green light" for competing with this build but I am going to play her either way. Here are her rules:

* No clothes, weapon, shield, charms, rings or amulet. The resists will be 0 (unless a shrine is active) all the way up to the Anya quest. If I ever get to NM, they will be -30.
* No points in Energy.
* No Warmth (which also means no Enchant and no Hydra).
* Any type of mercenary is allowed and he/she can use any equipment I find.

I started her yesterday. With no clothes allowed, STR and DEX are pretty much useless. Thererfore, please welcome Vitalita, the completely unreasonable, naked, all-Vitality Meteorb Sorceress! :lady:

Vitalita began her quest by punching her way through the Blood Moor. At the first level-up, I gave her a point in Frozen Armor, a staple for a punching sorceress engaged in fighting with monsters that hit far harder than she does (which is pretty much everything except Quill Rats...).

Second level-up and point in Ice Bolt. I didn´t use it much, though.

Vitalita met some terrible foes in the Cold Plains: a four-pack of Champion Gargantuan Beasts. Yikes! She had to take them on one at a time, chilling them with Ice Bolt and her frozen armor and punch them for all she was worth. Many healing potions were consumed in the process.

When Cold Plains and all the undead in the Burial Grounds were cleared out, Vitalita had about 1/6 of the XP bar left to reach level 6. She ducked into the Cave and was almost immediately greeted by a double boss pack: Spectral Hit archer women and some skeletons. She ran past all those, killed some Hungry Dead and started to lure out a minion at a time. After she had killed a couple, she levelled up. Time to face Blood Raven. Armed with a Skill Shrine, a bunch of small mana potions and some new awesome spells, she assaulted Blood Raven. The battle went some thing like this:

Frost Nova, Static, Static, Ouch! Healing potion, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, mana potion, Frost Nova, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, mana potion, Ice Blast, Ice Blast, dead Raven...

Enter Paige, the level 6 Cold Rogue. The two of them cleared the three remaining dungeons easily. Frost Nova ROCKS in those Fallen settlements! Paige is going to be with Vitalita for the rest of the first act. Vitalita has now retired her boxing gloves and tied Ice Blast to the left mouse button, where it will remain until level 18.

The plan is to get a Prayer merc in act 2, then a Might merc if she survives until act 2 NM .

Skill plan:

Lightning
Telekinesis and Teleport: 1
Static Field: ~10 (eventually)

Cold
Ice Bolt, Ice Blast, Frozen Armor, Shiver Armor, Frost Nova, Glacial Spike and Blizzard: 1
Frozen Orb and Cold Mastery: a lot

Fire
Inferno, Fire Bolt, Blaze and Fire Wall: 1
Fire Ball: 1+
Meteor and Fire Mastery: a lot

Vitalita, level 7, Stony Field next.

@ sunbearie - I've done a p8 full clear including marsh (tower and cave), and am about to enter the highlands. I very rarely replay areas.

Did I miss something? Last we heard, Perdition had just completed A1. Is she a Slayer already? :surprise:

Wasn't the point that every class can kill baal normal? No need to tell us that some of these build can't survive trough nm.. anyone who can take a really odd build and lift it trough hell is either good / patient / crazy

Theres a bug with inferno such that it only does like 23% of the damage listed, thats y its not viable.

I was wondering abt Perdition too. Thats a D2 marathon over the weekend then

Well I shall introduce Dodger the passives only Amazon.

She has completed act 1 and the 1st quest of act 2. At clvl 19 the sewers in act 2 were quite teadious to say the least. I could have went the /players 8 way but since I have started 20 characters this month alone I decided that I am pretty tired of playing lengthy amounts of time in normal act 1 so I decided to go the players 1 route killing only whats in my way I will have to level some before I get too much further but I would like to do that in act 2 where the enemies are a bit different then what I have been facing lately.

Dodger has decided to go with:
5 points in critical strike, penetrate, pierce, evade, avoid, and dodge.
1 point in slow missles and inner sight.
the remaining points will be spent in valkyrie and decoy as needed.

So far critical strike is at ~42% dodge is at ~38% and avoid is at ~39% IIRC.

It takes less points in avoid to get a reasonable % so I may stop placing points in it early also I find that I am standing or attacking more then running so points in evade may be a waste.

OT: my computer with D2 on it started acting funny so I may end up the creek sometime this week. i hope I don't end up losing my characters again I will try to get them backed up as soon as possible.

WOW, good luck on the unreasonable build.

There have been so many build suggestions and people joining in that it is hard to keep track, but it is nice to have such a good response.

Bulkmeister the Barb Equalizer is doing OK, and getting close to Anadariel. With only one point per skill, he is pretty item dependant. I am looking at using some runewords, since I cannot twink over any uniques.

Have we found any builds yet that are not viable through Normal Baal?

Clay-Face the Golem-mancer

Main Golem - Clay Golem
Main Artillery Skill - Corpse Explosion
Back Up Artillery Skill - Poison Explosion (one more level to get it)

Tactics Thus Far - Keep a bow/x-bow equiped while droping occasional Amp Damage curses to let my clay kill a bit faster. Help out against problem monsters or tactical targets (shamans)

Current Level 11

Were He's At - Stoney Field

Thus far Clay-Face has been slow, but mighty. His clay golem can take on whole hordes of monsters at a time and once I get more mana built up (currently base Energy since I'm trying to get my str up for armor) things will be spead up alot thanks to corpse explosion. I'm going to take poison explosion up to help with physical immunes (if I live long enough for that) since even with Amplify Damage a 120% phys resist monster will only come down to the 80 to 90% range iirc.

Blood Raven was a pain in the rear, but with my golem keeping the zombies busy(and slowly killing them off) I was able to concentrate on the fallen rouge. Soon enough she fell. Now I'm off to search the Stoney Field.

Well I have good news and bad news first the good news.

A passives only amazon is fairly easy to play and works quite well in normal better then my passive only barb so I see no reason why it couldnt make it through normal and probably nightmare without any problems.

The Bad news my brother in all his ifinate wisdom went onto the internet with my computer and since I havent been on the internet with that computer for about 6 monthshe didn't update my virus scan. I was playing Dodger getting a few levels by running Andy at a higher players setting. out of memory error came up and closed my D2 I restarted my computer tried to figure out what was going on with it. Thought I figured it out started leveling by running andy the game went really laggy I died and then the memory warning came up. So I got online and updated my virus scan. Ran it and what do you know I found 50 trojans on my computer all dated the may 16th for their creation. So I have a virus problem with my computer now and will be fighting to clear them probably for the next week or so. Trojans have that nasty access denied rebuild issue you can eliminate them but not all of them at once and they keep multiplying so you can adventually find them all but it takes time.

No worries though I can access the forum from different computers.

my build:
The Monk
a staff weilding palidin
must melee with a two-handed staff or by punching
no 'metal' armor in any of the 5 armor slots (armor, belt, boots, gloves, helm) except circlets (i.e. leather anything is ok - no studded leather though)
allowed skills:
combat: sacrifice, zeal, vengeance, conversion
no offensive auras
defensive: all but redemption (although recommended to go with prayer/cleansing/meditation to best fit the theme)
moron from act 1 only allowed (your young 'grasshapper')

jewelry is allowed

Since for some reason I'm experiencing incredible lagspikes atm @ bnet, I think I might pick up this one.

I would like to request one change though... I'd like to take along an Act II Prayer Merc.

I'll get started on him now and check back later (won't make it to act II anytime soon anyway).

CynicFyst is underway.

Didn't run into any particular problems along the way with two exceptions :
1) a fanat enchant dark spearwomen pack
2) Bloodraven summoning new undead too fast, meaning I couldn't reach her anymore.

Set the game back to players 1 for the BR fight, and finished her off after a while.

Seems like my monk has just acquired his young grasshopper @ lvl 7 =]

Plan so far is to go as a Deviant Avenger. Defiance will keep my Defense acceptable, as that'll suffer a fair bit after act I, and I like the idea of the multi elemental attack of Vengeance.

Well... Ole man Cain has been rescued... and there was much rejoicing =]

CF is now lvl 14. His main gear is a +20 life (double chipped ruby) Cap, and a Ctopaz/Cemerald Short Staff that I'd be glad to swap for something better.

Will probably see if I can't harvest the Countess for a few good runes to make life easier.

Just wondering. Can I only use sashes ? Or can I use heavy belts too ? (3 rows would be a great improvement)
