Hermit's Odd Build Challenge
I have held the opinion that 99.9% of the resonable or semi-reasonable builds out there can kill Normal Baal if developed properly and played carefully.
To that end, I have thought up a challenge that I will undertake, and invite anyone else who wants to to join in.
Here is how it will work. Anyone who wants to, whether they want to participate or not, can submit a build to be played. You can also volunteer to be a participant. I will match the builds to the participants randomly, and you are responsible to get your build to Slayer status.
Here are the rules for playing the builds.
1) Softcore, but no death's and restarts are allowed. I will explain later.
2) No Twinking or muling in (muling out is acceptable).
3) No multiplayer
4) Finish all quests
5) If you die, you must start over from scratch by creating a brand new character.
6) You can only save and exit the game from town. (To avoid dodging death). If you are in trouble, and can TP to a town then you can save and exit.
7) TPs in belt are allowed.
Now here are the rules for submitting builds.
1) Figure on about 44 Skill points. That is lvl 40 when you kill Baal.
2) Build must allow for a method of killing. IE, no Defensive aura only paladins.
3) Build can be based on a specific set or item. If that is the case, then muling is acceptable just for that purpose.
4) Build can dictate where skill points and stat points can and cannot be allocated.
5) If the build only allows specific items or skills, then allowances must be made till the player can get that skill or item.
6) Must allow all skills points and stat points to be allocated.
7) If the build is based on a specific skill, you must allow the player to put points into the synergies, but you can tell them not to actively use the synergy skill.
8) Merc must be allowed, but you can dictate which merc they must use. They must be allowed to use any merc up till the allowable merc is available tho.
Builds should generally follow 1 specific theme.
I know the rules for submitting builds do not allow for ANY build imaginable, but they have to be at least partially reasonable. Please avoid anything that is completely unreasonable. IE, a naked sorc that cannot put points into Energy or Warmth, and cannot use charms and cannot use weapons.
The game will be played in Softcore to allow for muling in sets if a build is based on a specific set. However, regular Hardcore rules apply. If you die, you must start brand new. No escaping to avoid dying.
This challenge is designed to be fun. I will match up the builds and players by 10:30pm GMT since that is when I get off work and I want to start my build tonight.
