Re: Green with Envy II Tournament
Allisandrina has reached Harrogath, and is now a Phoenix Striker worth the name (PS at level 6, FoF at level7).
The combo of Prayer merc and Shadow Warrior (using Blades of Ice and Burst of Speed) has been quite succesful. They have been able to take on rather large packs of monsters, and come out alive. The continous healing combined with group freezing has helped a lot to keep them alive.
In Act IV, Allisandrina has been more active herself. Venom Lord breath was not kind to the Shadow (Alli froze many monsters with PS 3rd charge) and then there were spawners in City and River (Ack! Kill them fast!).
The greens have dropped in OK numbers, but strangely enough, not a single weapon yet. I see that as a good thing, because I can keep my Prayer merc do decent damage.
Speaking of merc damage, I found a Crude Partizan in Act IV. Even a Crude one does more damage than a Pike, plus it´s faster. And I have the means to normalize it. Nice! I left it on the ground because I was doing a selling trip. I sold the merc´s 3s Pike, got back and tried to equip it.
"I can´t use that"
No, of course you can´t! I know this. Really. I mean, in most tourneys I have a cubed Savage Partizan ready. Merc can usually equip that around the Anya quest...
I guess I was too excited and tired to remember...
So I had sold my Pike, and had no weapon for him at all. Sigh. Back to Fara and buy him a Spetum...
(Good thing I found a Halberd a few minutes later.)
Diablo. A major hurdle for this character. And too much green potential to fight him on /players 1. I chose /p3, and I chose to not use PS. That is far too dangerous! Blade Fury was an option, but it takes a little while to get the blades flying. I do not have much time. And my resists were bad. I had found Isenhart´s Parry a short while earlier (in the Infector´s wing of the CS) and the two Resist All partial bonuses on the helm/shield was all I had for lightning resist (really bad luck with lightning resist charms). 49 Fire and 16 Lightning. That is
bad.
With such bad resists, you might think I would choose to go with Fade in this fight. However, I thought that speed was more important. Better to avoid getting hit than to resist damage. Alli has about 360 life, so she should be able to take at least small bursts of lightning breath.
I fought Diablo with
* Level 1 Burst of Speed
* Javelins bought from Charsi
* Level 1 Venom
* Level 1 Shadow Warrior, to provide short moments of distaction to D, and get him to stand still a little more.
I soon got into a
nice rhythm. Dodge D´s attacks, throw a bit, stay on the move often, summon a Shadow when I have time. Drink healing potions when needed. Keep track on my javelin stack. Go back to town when there are 1-3 left (so I don´t need to bug Charsi for more of them).
During the town trip: refresh BoS and Venom, cast a Shadow, see Jamella for mana refill (and greater healers if I´ve used any, and TP scrolls if they have run low). Visit Halbu to refill the javelin stack (for 1 gold) :badteeth:
Repeat about 25 times. I was beginning to feel like :crazyeyes: before I had finally won...
Current gear:
* Isenhart´s Horns
* (no amulet)
* 3s Blade Talons
* Isenhart´s Case
* Milabrega´s Orb (gambled)
* Cleglaw´s Pincers (kind of annoying to use PS wearing these...)
* Angelic Halo
* Hsaru´s Iron Stay
* (no second ring)
* Greaves
Weapon switch:
* Javelin
* Isenhart´s Parry
Prayer Merc:
* Cathan´s Visage
* Halberd
* 2s Plate Mail
I have been very unlucky with green jewels. On average, every 6th jewel is green. I have not kept track, but it feels like less than 1/10 of them have been green for me.
