Golem FAQ Revised

So, can that make iron golems moderately useful as killing machines?
Also, what classes of weapons are best to make them from?

The IG is still handicapped by his 1 hit per second attack speed. Class of weapons doesn't matter too much since his attack speed doesn't depend on it.

I just thought of something probably useless that I'd like to ask.

Lets say I make an Iron Golem out of something with +life. Would Golem Mastery and/or Blood Golem's synergy add to that? I wouldn't think so, but you never know.

Another question, is Blood Golem's synergy addititive or multiplicative with Golem Mastery?

As far as I can tell it's simply +% life, which does multiply +life.

Additive.

Heh.. I really need to get around to touching this thing up with all the info that's been gathered since. I think I'm also going to put together a general necro skills FAQ this weekend. Somebody stop me if there's already one floating around somewhere on dii.net.

that would be cool. I still wonder why my iron golem's life did not drop no matter how bad the situation is, ( I killed my merc to test him).

However, I never tested him on PvP.

The iron golem (before BO, has around 6k life) and is made out of delirium.

its so confusing. I tried delirium because initially, I wanted to make one out of exile, but seeing that hes doin extremely OK, i might just save my exile for other things.

Ive always wanted to make a beast IG (dont really have the runes lol, but I got some items from MF that i know can trade those low-value HRs *sigh).

But, IM scares the **** out of me. Does anyone here know, if IM would affect the IG that much.?

Actually i can just test on SP. hmmm

I might do that.

later.

Just caught this. Beatboxer wrote a general Necro guide. I believe the link to it is still in the Guides sticky. You might want to check it out.

Depends on his life and what you made him from. Some IG's can withstand IM a long time, but if you used a high damage weapon he'll certainly bite the dust.

Yeah, it's an interesting guide but not what I had in mind. This would be more of a general skills FAQ. I think I'll go ahead and do it and put it up for discussion like the Golem FAQ. I think a skills FAQ needs to be put out there because very few sources have updated their skill descriptions. Even our own dii.net section on necros describes skeletons as being too weak to make it through the entire game.

Would a Fire Golem benefit from + % fire damage gear?

No. Since it is not on the Golem. Those kinds of mods only work for the person equipped with them. So your Necro would do more Fire damage, but the Golem wouldn't.

WHAT IS THE BSE DAMAGE OF THE BLOOD GOLEM at level 20 into hell ?
The reason i'm aking is because that base damage can be multiplied using amp and might to around 600%, the paladin and barbarian have an average o 700%, depends on the build soo 600$ is prety good.

Without +skills or synergies the base damage of a BG in Hell is 76 - 206 (ø141.5).

So a 76-200 multiplied 6 times goes to about 500-1200 damage, is that worth 20 skills?
What do you think?
I don't know about AR and resisits of BG at level 20 in hell can you share some insight(give me some info about it :P )?
Do goloems get the -100% resists penalty in hell, or only the necro get's it, otherwhise 4-5 skills into sumon resists would be great great.

No. Since you'll be getting only 30% of it. That sounds like a lot of health, but that is only if BG hits. Since he'll swing about once every second you can see that when he gets surrounded you'll end up taking more damage than he'll heal.

His AR at level 20 with 1 point GM is 193. Adding level 20 GM makes this 668. That is not a lot.

Indeed, those points would be great. Golems and our other minions do not get the -100% resist penalty in Hell. Keep in mind that a mere 1 point with +skills will be more than enough in almost all cases.

Ok I get it, blood golem BAD.
What abut Iron Golem, he has nice resists even without SR, what about his thorns damage, does that get amplified by might and amp?
The way I see it: 150% (thorns damage) with 200% might = 450% damage. Doubled by amp = 900% damage.

Is that how it works?

P.S. Thanks for the other info Mad Mantis. Necros Rulle

Damage from Thorns is independent of amplify damage and might. I think the only way to increase damage returned is to use the iron maiden curse.

10 - 41 actually. The skill gives +% enhanced dmg.

Thorns dmg is modified by the physical resistance of both the attacker and the defender. So having your golem amped means he dies faster, but also that Thorns deals double dmg.

Edit: Golems can't block btw. Not even the Iron Golem with a shield.
