Gambling...does the Act # matter ?

It's more like: "How the landlord is, he trusts his guests."

Allthough I don't really believe the sentence is completely appropriate in this case. I can imagine a Landlord being deceived that many times, that he does not quickly trust his guests anymore...

I translated it as "Everyone here can kiss my..." Oh wait, used the wrong translator.

I'd love to continue the discussion with you by the way, but I don't want to hijack this thread any further. Are you aware of a neutral forum that wouldn't mind our use? If not, I host a few that I'm sure we could have a thread in without too much trouble.

Yes, it's called the OFF TOPIC FORUM.

Yeah you indeed and obviously did, for I have no intention AT ALL to get my *** kissed.

It was just my (way too difficult) way to say that some people jumped on it a bit too fast and furious. I think that if you accuse people THAT fast, you're a bit obsessed maybe with something that should be entertainment, because that's what the game is isn't it?

From my part, the discussion about my *** stops right here and right now. I hope you will all do the same.

ZOMG! Infernosorc FTW! (3...2...1... FWOOSH!)

Anyway, glad you're staying omegamann. I'd trade with ya, but my characters have been on OPEN BNET (oh noes) in completely private and passworded games with just my fiancee (but that doesn't matter one bit because they're TAINTED ZOMG).

Now, on to the subject of freekje's three asterisks...

OMG! Protect the children! That's the most indecent thing I've ever seen on this forum.....well.... except for when freekje streaked, but that's another story.

Hey Omegamann, I'm impressed that you perservered for this, and I'd like to throw my 'Welcome' in with the rest.

For the record, I still believe you are mistaken that you gambled it, but I do believe it is a legit item and that you should keep it and use it without fear of the evil 'taint' Either way, I respect you sticking with your story.

Of course, it might have been for the better if you gave up D2, it has been known to be very addictive....

It´s a good idea to keep track of the ilvls of the Coronet class items we gamble, for a while now. Maybe there is something going on that we don´t know about?

Gambled Diadems with a character less than level 81 or Tiaras with a character less than 66 is what´s interesting here.
Interesting thread.......

Anyway, out of interest I just burned all my gold on Coronets from NM Anya with a 76 sorc and had this result:
No Diadems, all coronets.
Distribution of iLvl:
71: 1
72: 4
73: 1
74: 2
75: 2
76: 3
77: 2
78: 3
79: 1
80: 5

Total: 25
Mean: 76.04
Std Dev: 2.96

I'm sensitive? Well I guess you're right.

BTW, what is ~MM except millimeter or minion-master?? PM me please if it's indecent...

Once I build up a decent char again (started all over, and NO I was not tainted, just grew tired of SC) I will definitely gamble for coronets when I'm lvl 76, hoping for a Griffon!

Moving forward...

Well I am glad to see that this thread calmed down, I was almost relieved to see it hijacked to a conversation about some Sweedish guy’s a@@…err what does that say about me? Freekje don’t take offense Sweed, Nord all the same right?

After a lot of additional research and reads and re-reads of some of the information posted I really see that I came off as a Braggert nice vocabulary usage !!

To be sure that was not my intention, when D2 came out all those years ago I played a Barb, killed Diablo in normal and went back to EQ / Evercrack.

So this is the first time I have taken any character this far, when I entered Nightmare I was surprised at the number of drops and now that I am in Hell…geez I can barely clear a zone without my stash full of what seems like stuff I really need to keep !! How do you guys do it? Do you look at everything? Do you only pick up green’s, gold’s and yellow’s?

So when I was gambling and got some good stuff I thought damn no wonder people gamble !! Cha Ching !! I thought well this is Hell and in an effort to make the game more fun or to reward players for getting this far Blizzard kicked everything up a notch, drops, rewards etc.

But I clearly don’t read enough threads and don’t do enough research before shooting off my big mouth…FB was going to warn me but I jumped the gun in my enthusiasm. DOH !!

Soooo…moving on I will take the Griffon’s and name it to make it…what a named unique ? I don’t know what that is called in D2 lingo. I never did the quest in Nightmare because that closes the portal to Nith right? But I suppose if I want to do Pindleskin runs I would do them in Hell and not NM.

As far as reinstalling…here comes the ignorance…I have not done it before and I am worried I will lose this character that I have a lot of time invested in.

If someone will to PM me with some instructions or maybe a link (don’t get in trouble by posting one please) that will explain I would be grateful.

Last night I made the Staff of Kings in Hell, The Maggot Lair really blows, skels are dumb as stumps…don’t just stand there kill something !!! And after I went to Elsix (sp) and cycled thru several screens to a few coronet graphic’s, I gambled 3 all of which were 118kish and got magic items, nothing spectacular. Selling them back at roughly 35kish gold. Along with another 1.8 mil or so, no real keepers, a few blues again nothing unique.

So well I cannot explain my previous luck I see that I can postpone that trip to Vegas cause the luck she’s a run out !!

Sorry to be long winded, I see that based on my post a lot of time and effort was spent including people actually spending their gold to test some theories. So this seems the least I can do.

1 last thing, no one else uses my system, I have a 26 year old son…don’t say it... I know I'm old !! but he is attending culinary college in San Francisco and rarely make’s it down for a visit these days I pay for it so there better be some damn good meals in my future. So the accidental mod install should not be possible.

Alrighty then…thanks to you folks that PMed me with words of encouragement and those of you that posted good or bad.

If you want to reinstall but keep your character + items, you can just move the .d2s files somewhere else. iirc, uninstalling doesn't wipe them anyway, but if you want to be sure...

As far as drops go, I typically only look at items that I might have a use for. Sometimes I leave rares on the ground if the item is of no use to me anyway (ie, quilted armor...), though boss drops I tend to take a look at anyway. Just in case it has interesting mods (my best non-runeword non-unique melee weapon is a rare Mithril Point dagger), and such.

And of course, after a while you stop picking up green breastplates.

Pindles portal only closes if you kill Nith AND get the waypoint in there. Just don't bother with the waypoint and you'll still have the portal open. Of course you are correct, pindle running is generally done in Hell for items but NM Pindle can still be a decent source oc experience.

While I'm at it. I don't remember what the game does but I wouldn't trust it to keep your chars. Locate your save folder under the Diablo II folder (usually under "Program Files") and copy it somewhere. Then uninstall and reinstall and lastly put the save folder back. Remember that you won't be able to see your chars until you upgrade to at least the patch version you are using right now.

I'm Dutch, not Swedish.

And don't take it seriously ~MM

For all interested, I suggest the following procedure for a reinstall:

1) make a copy of the "Diablo II/save" folder on some other disk / CD (serves as a backup as well ;) )

2) uninstall the game

3) remove the complete Dialblo II folder (sometimes the uninstall doesn't remove everything, especially mods and such)

4) Reinstall the game from the original CD

5) Connect to bnet once (don't need to make a char) to get the latest patch installed [optional, of course. You may want to play the patch level that is on your CD]

6) copy the save folder back to where it was.

I pick up everything except non-magical stuff that I know sells for very little but uses a lot of space (like some polearms, katars, etc.). That's why I play so slow: I pick up as much as I can, go back to town, ID and sell all of it , usually unless it's better than what I have, take a look through the shops to see what's there, go back and pick up whatever couldn't fit before, repeat... I've got this down to a habit so I can get everything off of the ground before it disappears.

And I don't mule or use ATMA, so it really adds to the strategy of the game, trying to decide what to keep! Sometimes I even store nice pieces of armor or helms on my merc.
