Gambling...does the Act # matter ?

Well I am sure this has been discussed repeatedly but when I do a search I get popped into the middle of convoluted threads that bounce on and off topic...so I will risk the "Why dont people read other peoples threads" comments...be nice !!

I justed finished Hell act one for the first time and before going East I decided to clean out the gold in my stash by gambling some.

Gheed was very kind and I ended up with several Unique items I found usefull, I got a Seryph's Hymn Amulet with +2 skills & stuff, A 2h poker called "The Impaler" I gave to Hazade who truly has "Put that to good use" !!

It has ignore targets defense (it really cuts thru immune to physical ghosts & such) and 40% open wounds...What does open wounds do? I dont know and I dont care !!! It sounds damn cool...

And lastly I had never seen the graphic on the last item so I took a chance and got a "Griffon's Eye Diadem" with +25% FCR and + 1 to skills and some lightning stuff. The D2 page has this item listed as "Ladder only" but I got it in single player mode.

Woo !!

So my question is does the gambling get better in higher acts or better based on your level? I am currently 75 and was 73 or 74 when I got these items.

Thanks for any input.

JP

Only thing that matters is your clvl i think...
Besides its a little hard to beleive that u got all those items,u have any proof?

Looks like the only thing that matters is your luck. Jeez, you gambled a Griffon's? Seraph's and The Impaler? In what time frame? How much gold did you gamble?

You must be one lucky mofo. Especially on the Griffon's.

Gambling only depends on character level.

Since Diadems are qlvl 85, I thought that it wasn´t even possible that a gambled Coronet would upgrade to a Diadem until the character is at least level 81. I guess I was wrong.

Wow, gambling an elite unique. The chance for the upgrade to elite is never much higher than 2% (1/50), and then there is the 1/2000 chance of it being unique on top of that. That´s 1 in 100 000!

OK, I gambled a Bloodfist in 1.09. That has about the same probability. But I had gambled several thousand pair of gloves in that version up to that moment.

My thoughts exactly. Last i knew you had to be clvl 93 to be asured of a +2 to all skills ammy, and at the minimum a clvl 86 to have a remote sniff at one.

Monsinour lvl 85 Avenger

i call shinnanigans..

i've spent about 14 million in gold and got jack squat not even a unique or a set item.. this was gambled on a lvl 89 pally in hell diff

Gambling, in general, is best done for rare items (and sometimes for magical ones, especially amulets and circlets, because they can´t be bought and they can have some juicy magic-only affixes).

You have a 10% chance for a rare, a 1/1000 chance for a set item and 1/2000 chance for a unique.

I have gambled 2 unique amulets in the past (in 1.10 or better) so they do crop up from time to time - mind you I mainly gamble amulets... No idea how much I've gambled but my MF summoner regular gambles several million at a timea nd sometimes does so a couple of times a week.

I gambled for 30 to 40 minutes or so I can't say exactly, I was looking at the stuff I was wearing and comparing stats so it could have been longer. I spent roughly 1.6 mil gold, That was about all I could carry at that time, I have been using the bank of Atma and I was joking with someone and told them that the Bank of Atma thinks I am a money launderer or a drug dealer because of the rate of my deposits. He told me that I should gamble some because what the heck else was I gonna spend the gold on? I know now though...rezzing my damn merc..42k a pop and counting !!

Naab, I don't know your nature and you don't know mine so take this the best way you can...this is a video game, believe what you will I suppose I can figure out the Atma thing that will let me post the stats of these items but honestly I don't think I need to prove anything. I am not trying to trade anything here or profit in any way. I thought I was just asking a question about gambling...I realize I am new here and I welcome any and all input, comments and suggestions...but the claws came out rather quickly don't you think ?

Anywho, integrity matters and so does trust, I paid real US $$ to support these boards because I find the information here informative and helpful and quite amusing for the most part.

I guess based on these responses I got lucky...I also got a ton of crap items that I turned around and sold to Charsi. As I am new to this game when I saw the items I got my response was ohh neat. I guess I should have been more excited !!

I am still learning the mechanics of the game I spent almost 4 years playing EQ online and while some things are similar there is still alot to learn. I was told that gambling could net some nice items so I gambled. Now I am what... defending myself ?

I had this response typed out and then read the other reply's. I will post the stats on the items, what is better screenshots or the Atma readout ?

Can I just cut and paste from Atma to a post here ?

JP

ATMA readout would be the one to show, if you feel you need to prove it...

I myself just spent 3 million gold in the vain hopes of gambling a Mara's in act 4 Hell. 90% of the results I gambled I sold right back to Jamella, but I did find a 35% MF amulet and a +2 warcry ammy, so it wasn't a total waste

Incidentally, can a lvl 83 character actually gamble a mara's in the first place?

This tends to be a VERY defensive forum omegamann, some people's claws come out very fast when they see incredible, almost unbelievable luck like yours. Griffon's Eye is a ridiculously good (and rare) item that many people (like myself) have never found from MF runs, let alone from gambling.

That said, congrats on the gambling luck.

Cutting and pasting the ATMA readouts would be fine.

edit: pwned by nightfire and cenerae. Ouch

Usually I'm in favour of anybody claiming even very rare finds, but this one I outright cannot believe. 1.6 million gold? Circlets at that level cost more than 100k, ammys always cost 63k, dunno about impaler base type. So you only got about 20 tries with 1.6mil gold, and 3 uniques? I don't believe that, sorry.

EDIT: Well, maybe it is possible to gamble them, but not without a mod being involved. Was that really a vanilla unmodded game install?

I gambled a Stormlash (which I have never found) awhile back, but that was after gambling over a billion gold through the years. I am a very inefficient MFer because I sell alot of items I find to support my gambling addiction.

If you gambled them, more power to you. If you didn't, come clean now and ask for a second chance.

As Cenerae, Nightfire and MadMardigan posted, this is a very defensive forum. Most of us are players from cattle.net whom got could not longer stand the b.net attitude and form of play (dupes, hacks, item-creating, etc.). We found a paradise here in the SPF, where legitness means everything.

That's why we are so defensive with new people posting incredible finds. Most of the new people whom have posted impressive finds were proven to be cheaters, that's why we are so cautelous with this kind of things, is not something personal omegaman.

Recomendation? Open ATMA, look for the item, left click to it, select view, copy the stats and post them, this way you can free yourself of these imputations, since once a member is suspected of cheating or duping, it is very hard to win the reputation back................ again, nothing personal, just to mention you how much the SPF cares about its legitness

Bnet changed it, you can with ridiculously low chances.

Which I've gambled several million on only amulets and circlets, and so far I've only found magical, a handful of rare, and a single set, cathans. Is it really seen often to find so much gambling? And does mf change gambling chances?

I thought you couldnt gamble for set/unique items.

You can, but as has been mentioned, rolling a unique is generally a 1/2000 chance, elites are 1/50 at best and he says he gambled 1.6 million. At best that mean about 20 shots, out of which he hit the 1/2000 chance twice and 1/2000 x 1/50 or 1/100000 once.

Add to that jiansonz says you can't gamble Diadems until clvl 81. I'm sure jiansonz has been wrong before about d2 stuff but I can't remeber when.

While the odds are a bit stagering, gambling a diadem at clvl 74 is either possible or impossible. At the moment, I would have to bet on jiansonz being correct.

so in classic u could gamble SoJ but u needed manald and nagel ring in game someplace on you or in your stash or someone elses.. is that still true?

Griffon's is qlvl 84.....still need a lvl 80 character to gamble one though.
