Frost Zeal Paladin - Moving Forward? (Need Advice)

Re: Frost Zeal Paladin - Moving Forward? (Need Advice)

Uber Mephisto's Conviction aura is pretty wicked. Take your current resists and add -125 to them, that is what you'll be staring at when Meph turns you green in Tristram. There are 3 ways to get around that:

#1. Overstack your resists with items. Including the 3 Anya quests, the Hell difficulty penalty, and Meph's -125 Conviction aura you will need 270 to all your resists to maintain a 75 resist all. That can be tough to do and limit your gear choices.

#2. Run Salvation. While facing Meph using the Salvation aura can bolster your resist all. Level 10 offers +97 resists while level 20 offers +108 resist all. This gives you more gear flexibility but means you lose your Fanaticism aura until Meph is gone. Slowing down your Smite is survivable, but not preferred.

#3. Cancel Meph's Conviction. The highest Conviction aura is the only one that works. If your Conviction level is higher than Meph's, then yours overrides his and his has zero effect on you. Of the top of my head I don't know what level you need, for some reason I'm thinking level 21 or 25 does the trick but I can't remember.

Personally, I prefer #1 and keep "Uber gear" in my stash to only use when Ubering. This is all high resist gear so I can keep my Fanaticism on while smiting Meph. For example a 15/15'd Kira's replaces the Shako, tri-res boots replace the War Travelers, etc.

I Would advise against a Frosty doing uburs as they have a HUGE amount of resists. Respec or remake a pally to run as a standard fanatic zealot with 1 point smite using pretty much the same gear.

Its possible to do it with your frosty but would require a grief weapon to get some decent physical damage and at a acceptable speed.

Grief PB + HoZ +gores+Guillames+Dracs and run salvation will give you a decent smite attack and decent speed thats more than adequate to take out uburs but with that gear a switch to fanatic zealot would be more efficient.

You are correct. I tried it with my Frosty and it was extremely difficult, only semi-effective, and required basically a complete gear change. I also couldn't do it with Zeal, it had to be Smite.

Since that learning experience each ladder my first character is a Frost Zealot who builds wealth for a Hammerdin. Once geared my Hammerdin uses his 1 point Smite as an Uber killer. With a few gear twinks here and there Uber Tristram is pretty easy.

Well once I can locate a rush via ladder I'll make an Uber Killer Paladin there, this paladin will continue to **** face without touching ubers. Atleast, for now :)

If either of you find the time and happen to wanna rush me via ladder, let me know. I'd love to create a uber killer.

The ladder paladin is now level 78 only 4 behind the NL one lol. 25-60 was fast as you stated it would be Wolf. Just right back in the same boat that my NL paladin was b4 you turned the world into a sunny place lol.
