Forum Mafia - The Dark Tower Game Thread

Is this a real question?

I am a huge fan of Dark Tower and Stephen King. Like ginormous. I have read almost everything he's ever written. "The World has move on" is written at least 100 times throughout the series and in Drixx's right up and the man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed is the first line to the entire series. I am a happy fanboi with this stuff and it's going to seep out all game from me, it just is.

Go read the last page of the signup thread.

Ok, thanks BA. It was a real question, I skimmed the wiki of the first five books and nothing about "white" or "red" popped up. Had no idea that there was information in the sign up thread. Also, the rules and the beginning of the day post contradict each other about votes/lynching (Gory does not lynch without locking).

While not quite a LAMIST statement, I took it as something along the lines of a "Look, I'm Making A Joke About Me Being Scum, Therefore I Must Be Town" (LIMAJAMBSTIMBT) statement.

Couldn't we just day LAMIST? I dislike this passive aggressive behavior. Very troubling it is.

This is a good way to describe it. I was trying to think of a way to explain the purpose or reasoning behind that post, but dat_acronym explains it pretty well.

Ewwww....complimenting your attacker.

Somewhat for fun, somewhat because it feels like you're trying to get on CG's good side.

I can Haz 2 votes toooooo?

Fair enough. But if you do look at his post CG does describe it pretty well. I was going to post about how it seemed like BA was making a joke out of it as some sort of "cover" or something, but CG beat me to it. I'm still irked by this section of BA's response to CG from yesterday: "...I guess now that the riddle is solved, the world must move on."

It's weird, maybe it's just an opportunity to put in some more Dark Tower references or is it something else?

More ewww.

Is this a real question?

That's was pretty much exactly my thought. It also makes me think: "is he thinking: How do they know the red are scum?!!??? :scared:

Drixx said in the signup thread that he was giving fake claims to mafia.

Is it common on these forums to see votes this early on day 1?

I couldn't remember if he said for sure that he was or not.

Yea, it is common. Not common to see any serious moves toward a lynch this early though.

I have no idea what fake claims are or the significance of them, if someone could explain?

It just means that mafia will have a claim that looks like a legit town claim given to them, so it will be hard to distinguish alignment from a roleclaim. Most times mafia don't get a fake claim so they either make something up or take the name of someone they killed.

Day 1 has begun: With 21 players left alive it takes 11 votes to lynch and 12 votes to lock. Day 1 will end in 48 hours on Monday at 5pm Eastern

The lynch rules of post 1 conflict with the # of votes to lynch/lock in this post. I gather this is the correct count?

Did anyone else interpret it like kegs/BA?

Reading Drixx's sign-up thread posts, I can't discount the idea of a group of neutrals and I'd lean more towards yes than no. If Drixx were a player, I'd say he's breadcrumbing about a group of neutrals. He's the mod, so maybe he's just keeping the door open to each and every possibility.

I think his stated method of handing out roles to neutrals if we chose option #2 was a big clue though. I'm betting there are neutrals (plural) in the game. Whether or not they are a group/faction, that's an entirely different matter. Does it fit the lore?

Phillinicus: If you were forced to kill someone as of this post, who would it be?

Love this type of question!

Why Phil?

No one as of yet seems suspicious to me, so it would most likely just be a random affair. Maybe someone who hasn't posted yet, since the last game I played there were like 6 lurkers which made the game pretty boring.

How many players would you label as lurking so far this game?

Hmm, that's a good question and not one I can really answer using the lore. I can't really think of a team of neutral characters, unless perhaps it could be the breakers or something like that. But what would a neutral team have to do to win? how many?
Cult?
Oh, cult of vampires perhaps works.. :/
Love this type of question!
Agreed

Updated the lynch/lock bullet point to be fully clear with intent. That's what happens when you revise a bunch of times and don't take your final revision and post it.

This is just off the top of my head from who I remember posting so far, but:

- Laarz
- Noammr
- djmbbandie
- Zauper

I think Zauper has posted before, not sure about the other three though.

Oh, and we got name and alignment in the thread. That probably means that mafia have fake claims given to them.

It's in Drixx's PM to you where he tells you to claim a different name than the one in the beginning of the PM. Mine tells me to claim VT, yours any different?
Heh, mine just tells me I am VT.

So, what are you really since, you're not VT (just claiming it)?
